  1. Er, that is what those three yapped about for 30 minutes. The Admiral up now is giving more details.
  2. Ok, so Dr Fauci was up, the guy with the beard was up, and now Dr Birx is up, and I am feeling super stupid while my eyes are glazing over. They are talking about the testing, the tests themselves, the need for testing who, what, and where. She just mentioned the American Society of Microbiologists annnnnd it sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher to me. I hope someone else has better Cliff notes. See what I wrote above. Turn it on, or watch today's presser when it is available in full. It is very detailed.
  3. Ain't it the truth...
  4. Pence: States today have enough tests to implement phase 1 (states that meet phase 1 criteria) if state governors should choose to do that.
  5. Pence: New cases are low and steady on the west coast. Cases are declining in NYC, NO, and Detroit. Steady progress is being made. Trump approved American Samoa natural disaster order, now all 50 states and all US territories are under nature disaster order, first time ever. Sent a letter to all the Governors outlining what was sent to them from the feds. Pence: We believe the states can double the amount of testing by using all the labs available to them. Dr Birx will be going over that.
  6. There are 4 authorized antibody bests. Asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic. He's praising American scientists. Public/private partnership with us and other countries for testing. (I missed this whole part, might be worth seeking out the clip later.)
  7. We will help NYS and all the other states get even better on their testing. Note: when I write "we" it is what Trump is saying and that means the feds. Safety first. We may be opening, but safety first.
  8. Perdue up: food supply chain starts with farmers and ranchers. They have been hard hit. USDA food assistance program. Two parts - direct payment to ranchers, farmers, producers ($16B), the funds that are currently in the CCC + COVID money. There will be additional CCC funds needed. The USDA will be purchasing ($3B) to distribute through food banks and other institutions (sounds like churches?) Trump: 3.78M tests done (I "think" he said) Distributed 660M Abbott tests. Saliva test, self administered (he mentioned this the other day) Governors are responsible for testing, he hopes they will be using the capacity we have. The next week, states will receive 5.5M swab tests will be going out to the tests. If the states need swabs, the feds will help them get them. We will be helping Mexico and a few other countries out with ventilators.
  9. Trump up He had a call with faith leaders earlier today. https://www.whitehouse.gov/openingamerica/ (guidelines) https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment if you have not gotten your check Sonny Perdue will be implementing $19B relief program for farmers and ranchers. Direct payments, plus mass purchases to get to the people in need. More money in July ($14B) for them.
  10. A lot has been lost in the sauce these last three years. This thread is two years old:
  11. These states need a slush fund for payola and graft. Cut 'em some slack.
  12. Michigan is gonna start reopening May 1st. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said on Friday she is hopeful the state can begin to reengage parts of its economy beginning on May 1, days after facing a barrage of criticism for her strict measures to combat the new coronavirus. </snip>
  13. What is odd? The override? Or the veto? IOW, what came first, the plan or the override that forced the plan?
  14. The Lisa Page testimony... if she lied about this, what's her testimony really worth?
  15. Look up, and read, the National Emergencies Act. Stafford Act. The PEADs were what were released by the CIA. Some of it is still redacted and classified. I linked to that one since it isn't easy to find (that doc, some of which is still classified, was released for us to read in the early 2000s). Yes, those are the acts you need to look up and read to see what happened when we went to a 50 state emergency. Those acts are from the 70s and 80s.
  16. They've been tame since the press got their ass handed to them, went home and actually did some research, and found he was not talking out his behind. I look forward to some fireworks!
  17. I've posted this numerous times: National Emergencies Act. Stafford Act. Presidential Emergency Actions Documents. Look them up... well, as far as you can. Apparently, some powers are classified. (Isn't that scary?) What the president has the ability to do, and what he eventually does may well be two different things. But, there is no question that these acts give him the final say when a disaster is national. And for the follow-up questions sure to come, I wrote this too: When the 50th state went to a declared national disaster (Wyoming on Saturday), things changed. That Uncle Sam Sugar-money comes with strings. Sometimes long strings. Trump seems to like making a declarative line in the sand, makes conciliatory noises to bring people in so they are (or at least feel they are) part of the decisions, and then he negotiates from there. Push-pull. Do I think he is going to do any of these things? No idea. I sincerely hope not. Does he have the legal authority to do them? Apparently so.
  18. I think he was going to veto their override... did he? This is the last I read.
  19. Making a facemask... not for the faint of heart. ?
  20. This is really going to be the Democratic candidate?
  21. Michael Cohen is being released due to COVID-19 and will serve out his sentence at home. </snip> Cohen is currently locked up at FCI Otisville in New York after pleading guilty to numerous charges, including campaign finance fraud and lying to Congress. Cohen began serving his sentence last May and was scheduled to be released from prison in November 2021. He will remain under quarantine for 14 days before he is released. Federal statistics show 14 inmates and seven staff members at the prison have tested positive for the coronavirus. After he is released, Cohen will serve the remainder of his sentence at home, according to multiple US media reports citing Cohen’s lawyer, Roger Adler. </snip>
