I don't want to quote that long post, @Foxx but yes, if you (generic you) listened to Sonny Perdue on Wednesday, it was clearly one of the reasons the country needed to reopen. There have been a few articles alluding to issues within the food supply chain over the last few weeks, and I "think" it started with the milk dumpers. Greg Gutfield on The Five (shesh, I have never watched so much TV as waiting for the pressers to start) has been making comments about this for the last few weeks that we don't have cross-over, how the supply chains work, etc. For all I know Fox has done a few segments on this (no idea, I don't watch), but it is a concern. This was also the day Trump was pissed off about his appointments still languishing after 3 years, and one was for the Undersecretary of Food. This was when he threatened to adjourn Congress (to make recess appointments is my guess). The Democrats really do not care about the people. Anything to obstruct Trump, and if people die or starve? Eh, so what?

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
When Trump said "county by county" as part of the presser yesterday, I was hoping Cuomo was listening and took it to heart. Buffalo is nearly 400 miles away from NYC. Washington DC is closer to NYC. Heck, the North Carolina state line is just about the same distance to NYC as Buffalo is to NYC. Big state. One size has never fit all, more so at this time. -

The Roger Stone Case
Buffalo_Gal replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Stone was denied a new trial. Can he appeal? He's scheduled to report in 14 days (as they let out murderers due to COVID-19). Will Trump pardon him if he cannot appeal? -

No one who wanted one (a ventilator), didn't get one. (He's said this before.) -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Trump: normal is going to be normal. (He's optimistic we return to the way things were before this virus, quickly.) 11 companies are making ventilators. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Trump is hoping that something will be happening onthat $250B SBA funding. Democrats like it, Republicans love it, we are negotiating with the Democrats. Asked by the press which states will be opening, Trump said that he will allow the governors to announce it themselves. -

Press asked Fauci about large crowds at sporting events in phase 3, Fauci said yes (watching for setbacks). A number of Governors will be opening soon (press question, Trump answered). Trump talking about sports, they will start without fans (made for television). Someone asked Trump (again) about states opening tomorrow. He said "yes" they can if they met the 14 days. -

Dr Birx: They are doing sentinel sightings for asymptomatic cases (nursing homes, clinics, and (somewhere else - native American populations). They are really gonna watch the nursing homes. the first cases always were in nursing homes. Also listing face coverings, washing hands, stay home if sick, wash your hands, etc. -

Pence: focus on mitigation and watching that no new hot spots start (these can be statewide or countywide). Dr Birx: going through the phases quickly. Downward trajectory for 14 days. Hospitals need to be able to treat patients without resorting to crisis care. She is going through charts that OAN is not showing. ? -

Pence: on those phases, there is also recommendations for state preparedness. The feds will work with the states. Pence is going through the rapid ramp-up in testing listing how many were done xx date vs xx date vs today. -

Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
As new and better testing solutions come online, we are seeing commercial lab testings drop (since we can do the tests easier and faster without the labs, including on the spot tests). Calling this a science based reopening. Border control is more important than ever. Pence: joined today with a bipartisan group for input. The new guidelines are a produce of science and common sense, and a broad range of advisors across the nation. -

At least 35 clinical trials are underway. Continue to expand testing capacity. Have now completed 3.5M tests. Hot spots have done more per capita. Distributed 600K point of care 5 minute tests. -

Trump now chatting about the new guidelines. Strategy is based on data. Thanking Dr Brix in crafting these guidelines. Going into the three phases, "one careful stage at a time." Focus is on sheltering highest risk individuals. (He mentioned seniors) Governors will be allowed to tailor their approach based on their state's needs. If they need to stay closed, they can. Harmonize regional efforts. Some states will be working very closely together. The goal is to rapidly put out any hot spots. If the guidelines return in the fall, these guidelines will help put out hot spots quickly.
