  1. These takes about Beane leaving Josh hanging in terms of the players around him are...something, I guess. Two straight drafts now they've spent their first pick in the guy Josh wanted. He wanted Kincaid last year, they jump up a couple spots and give him Kincaid. He wanted Coleman this year, they give him Coleman while being able to gain more draft capital in the process. Some of y'all are hung up on the speed thing. John Brown, Isaiah McKenzie, Deonte Harty, even tried to get a guy like Tavon Austin going again, now they have KJ Hamler to see if he can bounce back. Aside from Brown, the speedster guy hasn't really had much impact for this team. Some of y'all said they didn't give him a #1 WR. They went out and got Diggs for him. Oh, they don't have a decent enough run game to take pressure off him. They've drafted Singletary, Moss, Cook, and now Davis. Singletary was fine, Moss didn't quite work out, Cook really came on last season and if you can't get behind a guy like Ray Davis then I don't know what to tell you. It's clear that some of you are locked into your stance on this regime and no matter what they do, they're always gonna fall short of your ever changing expectations. I dunno, man, but for me, in the grand scheme of things this is still just a game. A highly entertaining game that can be a lot of fun and I know a lot of people are very passionate about their teams. Maybe I'm just an old fart but these days it's much easier for me to sit back with the wait and see approach and not get worked up about this draft pick or this trade or which guy KC got and blah blah blah. I'm guessing some of you didn't live through the drought years where there was real, actual incompetence running the show. That is not the case with this front office.
  2. Were they part of SB Nation? Because I guess they shut down all their team-specific podcasts and blogs. I think, anyway. I mean, the lights are on but I ain't ever quite made it back home, ya know?
  3. Yeah, I agree. I mean, is it nice to have a "true #1" WR? Sure, I guess. Is it a necessity? I don't really think so. Diggs has some great moments but when it came down to make or break in the playoffs he wasn't much of a factor save for the 2020 playoffs. They're gonna have different guys schemed to step up from week to week without worrying about "how do we make sure Diggs gets his 10 targets?" It'll all depend on their opponent and who they think can take advantage the best. They have a number of different players with different skill sets with a pretty creative OC. I really think it's gonna be alright.
  4. All the negativity about Claypool is expected and probably warranted. But what if they feel like their culture can help him remove his head from his rump? Maybe he'll be motivated to catch rocket balls from Josh, who knows. And all aboard the Duane Train! Carter and Smoot shall revitalize the DL! I'm also aware that's not how either of them spell their first name but hey that's how my old spells it for himself so I went with what I knew. 😀
  5. I could see this kid being a captain in the future. He's got a personality that people gravitate towards and he shows he can keep it fun and lighthearted while still being focused and all about the game. I let the negativity get at me when the pick was first announced. I got caught up in the "he can't separate" thing more than the 4.6 40. But then you see the game film and see that the skill and potential is there. Combine that with the character and the fact that he's gonna have a top QB throwing to him in a system that's gonna play to his strengths and it's not difficult to get pretty psyched up for this dude. I'm not usually one to make any kind of predictions, it's all "wait and see" at this point but I just get the vibe that he's gonna end up being one of the best WRs from this draft class.
  6. Groot gets a lot of pressures and is pretty solid against the run. I know a lot of people wanna see him blow it up for 10 or 12 sacks a year but keep in mind he's in a defense that relies heavily on a rotation along the DL. So while he's a regular starter, he's averaged about 55% of the snaps thru his career. He's also much better off the left side but that's where they've lined up Von and Floyd. With Floyd gone and Von looking at a more reduced role at this stage of his career, that should open things up for Groot to line up on the left a lot more this season. I hope he balls out.
  7. Last time the Bills had an RB named Davis he was backing up ol' Thurm. It's come full circle. Ray was the missing piece. They about to run four straight!
  8. I was waiting for when they picked one of the guys with an interesting name. Coleman, Bishop, Carter, Davis, all pretty standard and then bam, Van-Pran Granger!
  9. This is where I'm at as well. I still read some reports, check out some highlights or film breakdowns but nowhere near as much as I used to. And I just don't see much point in getting worked up because they didn't take a player I thought they should or did a trade I didn't like. I dunno, it's kinda strange to me how some people really seem to get irritated and angry and make comments insinuating Beane is not a good GM, or nitpicking on value and needs and all that. None of them have a 100% success rate but you'd think that's the expectation some folks have around here. At the end of the day it's pretty much a crapshoot. It's either gonna work out or not. For me it's just more enjoyable to take it as comes and they've definitely earned the benefit of the doubt at this point. It's all good.
  10. Figured they'd grab an RB at some point. Looks pretty good to me. Admittedly, I'm not out here handing out harsh grades or getting angry because Beane didn't do a thing I think he should do. Kinda strange how worked up some folks get over this stuff. It's all good to me. It works or it don't. Life goes on.
  11. Yeesh, some of these takes and comments. It's all gonna be alright. Let the kid take the field before we decide he's a bust. They'll have a plan for him.
  12. Holy crap I thought Sean Payton was never gonna stop yappin....nope, he's still not done....geez Louise...yappity yap yap this guy.
  13. I'd go with NFL Network. I'm not subscribed to NFL+ right now tho so I'm watching McAfee and Bellychunx on the YouTube.
  14. Pat's alright. He gets on my nerves a bit when he gets super loud and a little obnoxious. There are times it definitely sounds forced, like he thinks okay we just got some sort of scoop, lemme get loud! But then there are other times it kinda looks like he doesn't wanna be the loud frat guy type. I guess it just depends on the day. Sometimes I can listen to those guys for most of a show, other times I can make it thru a clip or two. Ol' Billy Bellychunx was actually pretty entertaining when he was on recently and he pulled back the curtain a bit on how teams process the draft. I'm sure it'll be pretty interesting. Is it going to be on YouTube?
  15. This seems to be trend with Nike's redesigns. At first they change it to what you said, a real arena league kind of vibe. Then eventually they must get the message that most fans dig their teams throwbacks more so when the next redesign happens it's scaled back to a much more traditional look. Detroit's a perfect example of this. They had those thin, almost italicized jersey numbers for a while and now they've switched to the old, block-style digits.
  16. It's all about the engagement these days. They throw a wild hot take out there, not because they believe it but they know it'll prompt people to respond and start talking about it. And for sure some of them probably try to call their shots and rank someone super high when the general consensus has that same player ranked much lower. It is what it is, I guess.
  17. Yeesh, that's rough. This doesn't go for all of the draft dweebs in the media but some of these dudes definitely go with some off the wall or head scratching mocks in order to drive engagement. People see that some draft nerd has their team going with guy that hasn't had any first round buzz or whatever and ta-da, they're commenting on the website, going at the writer on his socials, and talking about it on other forums and platforms. It's the same reason the talking heads are always trying to one-up each other with the next incredibly dumb hot take. I mean, I get it. But some of them aren't that great at hiding the fact that they have zero belief in the BS they're spewing. I can't sit thru more than five or ten minutes of pregame shows or discussion shows, hot take shows, etc. It is what it is, just this day and age. Just kinda lame sometimes. Anywho, it worked on me because here I am to tell Chad Rueter his Bills picks in his mock draft are straight poop. You hear that, Chad? Big, stupid, poop.
  18. JTs stuff is really good and he seems to be a pretty big fan of Josh. I liked his breakdown of the Eagles game last season, JT was just about shaking his head at the number of wicked throws from Josh in that one. Woulda been noice to come away with the W on that one.
  19. Depends how many times they call that shotgun jet sweep where all I'd have to do is pitch it forward half a yard to a skill player zooming thru. They count those as completions, ya know. I bet I could make like... probably...one out of 43 of those bad boys. And that's why I'm bound for the Hall.
  20. They're all over the place with this stuff. Yesterday I read that he was most interested in the Giants. I have inside sources that say ol' Bellychunx is off to coach the Northside Porkpies Pee Wee league up in Saskatchewan.
  21. When I see posts like this, I have to ask, what exactly are your expectations? That he has a 100% success rate on every draft pick, contract, trade, and free agent signing? It just seems trivial to complain about this stuff when the team has made six playoff runs with four division titles. He also kept those teams mostly intact for four years, teams typically have more turnover than that from year to year. Now here we are with an inevitable retooling of the roster and this is where you're at with it.
  22. As long as they have Josh they should be contending. I think, anyways. I myself did take a step back just now when I stepped on a GD crayon. Toddlers, man.
  23. Adding Samuel makes for a decent group. But there are still some question marks. Can Diggs bounce back? Was he hurt, or was the offense in general just not always on the same page? Would having other, more dangerous options that Gabe open things up for Diggs? And then after this year I think his contract becomes more flexible. He's at an age where teams maybe start thinking about moving on. And I'm sure the idea of a solid young WR on a rookie deal is enticing for Beane. Not all of those guys are gonna go in the first...but would any of them still be on the board when Bills pick at 60 in the second round? Beane has a bunch of mid-round picks he could wheel and deal if he wanted to go BPA in the first and then move around and grab his WR in the second. Either way, I'm good with whatever direction they go.
  24. It's a bummer they had to move on from him but it's just business. Benford emerged as a viable starter and then they traded for Douglas and had drafted Elam the year before so the writing was kinda on the wall. Makes you wonder if they were set to move on even if he hadn't gotten hurt. Best of luck to the guy. Seems like a great dude.
