  1. And what we don’t know is the long term damage we’re doing to kids when we send them to total hick schools in a place like Florida. Is that a conversation you want to have with your kid?
  2. If the kids are as resilient as you say, they can certainly handle a little depression and anxiety from not attending school until they can be vaccinated.
  3. It just isn’t a realistic argument to make with this many unknowns still out there. Is there any reason to believe that we won’t get some bad news about the long term effects of the virus in 2 years from now? Like Irv said, the data is always changing. My kid certainly wouldn’t be attending a Florida school right now, or since March 2020. I wouldn’t want to explain that poor decision to my kid. No thanks!
  4. There was never going to be a one size fits all fix but yeah, I’d be ok with a few suicides as opposed to wrecking millions of children’s lungs and who knows what else. When your kids become adults and have serious damage to their bodies, are you going to tell them it was for their own good because you were worried about their mental health from missing a little school and soccer practice? I can work on the kid’s depression and anxiety at a later time. What I CAN’T do is get him new set of lungs when he’s 40.
  5. If you take a look at the updated GOP platform you’ll notice that it’s the Heritage Foundation handbook. Everyone should know what their true intentions are at this point.
  6. As far as I’m concerned, the only unknowns left are the long term effects of Covid on the body. The whole approach with schools has been a travesty. People saying things like “the kids are fine” never sat well with me. Sure, they aren’t dying in huge numbers but we really have no idea what Delta is doing to them.
  7. All politics is local Kay. We may very well be close to a checkmate nationally, but we’re getting killed at the local and state level, Governorships, etc., and we’re seeing the effects of that today. This is what happens when a party gets distracted by social issues and gets away from a strong meat and potatoes economic message. The courts are their last stand and I’m in “believe it when I see it mode” as far them going crazy and straying away from national opinion on any one issue.
  8. There’s a lot of moving parts but what’s very clear is that 70 percent of the country doesn’t like the 30 percent and continues to marginalize them, which is causing them to lash out. It will turn to violence soon. There’s no doubt in my mind that the North will be putting the squeeze on the South real soon. The GOP abandoned democracy and that’s made it impossible for a healthy multi-party political system. As the party continues to shrink, it’s only going to get worse, until something is finally done. Their goal now is to take control by force, an Apartheid, and that’s going to be met with force. It won’t start out with bombs. It will start with the removal of federal funding, starving these states out, to change political behavior. Truth is, these states don’t have any industry and they’ll just need to be put in check. They can’t sustain themselves. It wouldn’t take much to turn DeSantis into AOC in a matter of weeks if we took the money away and they couldn’t run on lowering your taxes every election cycle and quit the nonsense.
  9. You mean don’t trust anything you hear because it’s much worse than we think? or don’t trust anyone as far as being vaccinated and knowing who they’ve been in contact with?
  10. I would just leave it be. Most of us know where the line is and we keep it real most of the time. I’ve only seen a few vicious attacks so far and someone let that person(s) know to chill. if there’s a moderator then half of the news sources would get removed and the entire place would just turn into victimhood/censorship whining. The level of discourse probably went down because American politics is no longer an art form and now resides in the gutter since 2015. Maybe just a moderator to make sure there aren’t physical threats and violence.
