  1. Maxine Waters stays. That’s non-negotiatiable.
  2. It just backs up numbers that we already knew anyway. Not a surprise to anyone.
  3. I go back and forth with it. I think there’s a $ sweet spot there but I don’t know where it is. Bottom line, no one is paying it back, so we’ll have to clear the books at some point and it should be framed as “boosting the economy.” I don’t like legislation that targets specific groups and leaves others out, like the child tax credit. If they do it, do it across the board and just set the amount somewhere fair.
  4. I didn’t say it was. Most voters think it is to some extent. It depends on how it’s framed.

  6. Bernie: We're going to tax the wealth of these billionaires, and with the Budget Reconciliation Legislation, we are finally going to invest in the needs of the working class of this country. Trust me, I wrote the damn bill.
  7. He’s already been doing loan forgiveness piecemeal. By the time we get close to the midterms, it will be more than halfway done already. Looks like they already have a deal. Sept. 27. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2021/08/24/afghanistan_is_already_fading_on_television_news.html
  8. Plot twist: American soldiers are fired upon and Biden bombs the Taliban and ISIS. oldmanfan starts doing cartwheels and Biden’s approval shoots up to 70 percent.
  9. I no longer follow the day to day on these large packages. It’s just postering and nonsense. In reality, these moderates just want some pork to bring home to their districts and they’ll have a deal. Infrastructure is polling in the 60’s so it obviously will pass in some form at some point.
  10. It isn’t so much that Dems are running on those issues. They’re just trying to take them off the table so they can’t be weaponized by the GOP. I’m talking about law and order and immigration. So far that’s working. A huge chunk of Republican voters are shifting away from Trump’s position on immigration, which I thought was interesting. Nancy wouldn’t schedule a vote if she didn’t already know it will pass.
  11. Afghanistan won’t be on anyone’s mind on Election Day. That’s why he did it. No one genuinely cares now. Healthcare Covid Voting rights w/ a little college loan forgiveness sprinkled on top.
  12. So, it appears that voters are warming up to Crist. Fried’s numbers are also improving. I assume that’s because she’s being introduced to voters. I’m not there so I don’t know. DeSantis probably has a 2 point lead today. That’s not very good BTW for a guy that’s been on Fox each day and has all of this national attention. Key takeaway: DeSantis is consistently under 50 percent now and trending in the wrong direction.
  13. That’s Bernie’s influence. I still believe that HC may be the top issue in these midterms. Edit: I just saw an ad on that proposal.
  14. ‘The moment you’ve been waiting for is here’
  15. His numbers are upside down on the mask thing. It’s over 60 percent against him.
  16. Voter’s don’t like when you attack the public school system and teachers. Just ask Chris Christie.
  17. It wouldn’t matter if he was down 1. It still spells trouble.
  18. Yikes. He nosedived. Rubio plus 10 and Ron getting slaughtered. Even if those numbers aren’t accurate, it clearly shows voters have a problem with HIM personally, and that’s very troubling for mini-Trump and his team. His other recent polls aren’t good either!
  19. Well, the senate is the “elitist” check on the people’s wishes. You can’t support the filibuster and also support term limits. The filibuster gives members cover and they can then serve for decades without ever taking a deciding vote. That’s the only reason it’s there. The only reason why Trump-care got so many GOP votes is because they knew McCain was going to kill it. It allowed them to vote for something that they knew would never pass to save themselves from political fallout down the road. It works the other way also. It’s easy for me to vote against something in a swing state when I already know it’s going to pass. That’s not a functioning body. The joke is on us!
  20. You’d be better off admitting that you’re a far right conservative and you enjoy gridlock because it prevents change and progress in any direction. You like the status quo.
  21. Well, how do you like your balance of power right now? The senate is 50/50.
  22. That didn’t work for Trump. The checks and balances, courts, etc. held and the institutions survived. I don’t mean 1 party rule across the board. I mean less gridlock in Congress, because that’s the main reason why Congress always has a 15 percent approval rating. I would abolish the senate altogether and add house seats.
