  1. I disagree with your contentions that Spain and Long have not been good. Apparently, so does the coaching staff. I've seen this said a few times, but I disagree with it. McDermott is strictly a tackle, and hasn't really impressed this preseason. To me, it means the door is now wide open for Ryan Bates. Bates has looked better at tackle than McDermott, and can also play center and both guard positions. Dawkins - Spain - Morse - Ford - Nsekhe Depth: Long, Feliciano, Bates, Boettger/possible waiver claim. They'll either keep 8 O-linemen or 9. If it's 9, I won't be surprised if the 9th guy isn't currently a Bill.
  2. Great post, and I think you're exactly right on both of your last points. Bates made this trade possible and offers versatility that Teller did not. Spain will be ready for the opener. Oh, and one more thing: the way that Beane is able to recoup draft picks for players that weren't in the Bills' future plans anyway has been masterful thus far in his tenure as GM. Another feather in his cap, this.
  3. I liked Teller, too. But the fact is that he had fallen on the depth chart and was no lock to make this roster anyway. It's possible they just flipped someone who was going to be cut for a 5th round pick. Another way of looking at it is that he originally COST the Bills a 5th round pick, so they've recouped what they spent on him and swapped a 7th in two years for a 6th next year in the process.
  4. I just can't see Jaquan Johnson clearing waivers. He has played REALLY well this preseason and offseason, and I'm not sure they want to risk him. While Vosean Joseph hasn't shown much, I'd still feel nervous waiving him, as well. I'd rather see those two kept at the expense of Dean Marlow and Deon Lacy, respectiely.
  5. You're the first person to ever say this. Great, hard hitting, original, thought provoking content. Well done.
  6. Great find. I'm now rooting for a Bills loss. Alright, Tyree. Forget what I said. Keep being yourself. You got this.
  7. As most probably know, the Bills have NEVER gone 4-0 in the preseason. I know, I know, who cares? Their chances to do so this year took a big hit when it was announced that Tyree Jackson would start the whole game. D'oh!
  8. I know that at the end of the evaluation process, the Bills had Josh Allen ranked as their number 1 QB in the draft. It worked out well for them that the first two teams taking QBs didn't see things that way. t's funny, looking back, knowing that the Dolphins were looming and wanted a QB, that they wound up with Rosen just a year later. I also remember hearing on draft night that the Cardinals LOVED Josh Allen and were absolutely crushed when they couldn't jump the Bills to get him. Not surprising, then, that they player they "settled" for, Josh Rosen, is no longer a Cardinal. Oh, and one of the little tidbits I found interesting: Josh was scheduled to fly to New Jersey to meet with the Jets after his workout here, but his flight was cancelled, so he stayed in Buffalo for the night and wound up having dinner at Bar Bill with some of the Bills braintrust and bonding more. Kind of neat. Last but not least: I don't want to be a downer, but speaking of the plane turbulence thing: They make it sound pretty serious in the article. Like, Daboll was Facetiming with his wife because he thought they might not make it. Can you imagine if that plane DIDN'T make it, and the Pegulas, Beane, and McDermott, well, ya know...Yikes. I don't want to even ponder that reality. Phew.
  9. I'll just say this: It would be stupid to cut Zay Jones. You want to trade him? Sure, fine. But cut him outright? That's silly. A healthy third year receiver coming off a season where he had about 700 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns? That's not a guy you just cut. I'm not saying he'd fetch a huge haul, but I think you could get, at worst, a 5th round pick for him. Hell, even a SEVENTH round pick is better than just cutting him (see: Sweeney, Johnson).
  10. This article alone is a good reason to get a trial subscription to the Athletic, if you don't have one already. It's articles like this that make me feel that my money is well spent.
  11. I'm not sure where my original post stated anything about how he's played lately. I simply pointed out that he's a top all time kicker and it was nice that the Seahawks messed up and let him go. That being said...I get the Bills fans are nervous about him, but the worry is a bit overblown, in my opinion. If you want to see a kicking game that gives real cause for concern, go look at the Bears or the Jets.
  12. Meh. He was admittedly bad at the end of last year, but it mostly came after the cheap shot when he was clearly dealing with injury. This preseason, he's been rotating between two holders every other time he kicks the ball. We'll see how things shake out come regular season. The fact that Hauschka says in the article that he had a really good spring and summer and the fact that the Bills re-signed him and Beane has full confidence leads me to believes the team is not at all worried.
  13. The question, now that the Bills appear set to keep 4 DEs instead of 5, is where will that extra roster spot go? 7 WRs? 7 LBs? 4 TEs? An extra DB? Should be interesting.
  14. Hauschka's 86.7% career field goal conversion rate ranks 7th all time in the NFL. He also holds the record for most consecutive made field goals from 50+ yards at 14. Yeah, that's right: Stephen Hauschka is a top 10 all time kicker in the NFL. The Seahawks were silly to let him go after one down season, and their error has benefitted the Bills greatly.
  15. You've obviously never heard my wife talk about that one woman from her work that she doesn't like.
  16. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/07/15/the-fans-seem-to-want-to-stick-with-16-games/ The fans seem to want to stick with 16 games Posted by Mike Florio on July 15, 2019, 12:00 AM EDT With the sudden proliferation of stories about the NFL’s desire to expand the season to 18 games, we decided on Friday to get scientific. Or as close to scientific as social media allows. A Twitter poll asked you, the reader, to vote on four options for the length of a season: 16 games, 17 games, 18 games, or 18 games with maximum player participation of 16. More than 44,000 responded, and the initial returns nearly matched the final numbers. A whopping 62 percent of those who responded want to stick with 16 games. Of the remaining 36 percent, most (24 percent) wanted 18 games. And nine percent opted for 18 games with the 16 per-player limit. Only five percent cast a vote for a 17-game season (which is my own personal preference). The idea of playing 18 games with a limit of 16 per player has lingered for several years. The NFL reportedly has proposed the concept during labor negotiations with the NFL Players Association. Many have criticized the concept, loudly. Fans don’t like it, the media doesn’t like it, players don’t like it. Packers CEO Mark Murphy spoke out against it.
  17. I get anxious about every Bills game for as long as they're in playoff contention each season. Every single one. It'll be a hard fought matchup. Neither outcome would surprise me. Weeks two and three the Bills should win. Week one? It's a coin flip to me.
  18. I wish that -- apropos of nothing -- he had just blurted out "Alright! I admit it! Beebe's feet were out of bounds and that play shouldn't have counted!". Oh well.
  19. I don't honestly have a problem with the Dolphins making this move. If they think it will help them win more games, then more power to them. I'm simply stating that it's a little weird to see "the whole team is on the block, they're tanking for a QB!" one minute and then "they want to trade assets and give up big money for a pass rusher in his prime" the next minute. It's just a little weird to me. They should pick a lane.
  20. Because realistically, the team isn't going to be ready to compete for a championship for the next few seasons. So you're paying probably the biggest contract for a defensive player in league history for a guy whose presence isn't likely to change the fact that you'll be sitting on your couch come playoff time.
  21. The next thing of value you contribute to this forum will be your first.
  22. You're so consistently on brand. You never post a thing on this forum that doesn't just SCREAM "ScottLaw".
  23. He's gonna be a Dolphin. Kind of a weird move for them, given that they're JUST NOW starting a multi-year rebuild.
