NFC Playoff Games: Vikes at Saints 1:05 pm
Boatdrinks replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I’m ready to see new blood at the championship level in the NFL. Nothing against Brees ( and I don’t believe Cousins is very good...he won’t win here) but I’d like a SF vs KC Super Bowl. It would be a great game. -
Great hot take. You will be loved by Banger, Rober et al.....Enjoy !

At least you’re honest about what you want to happen. That is, Allen’s eventual failure and the Bills beginning the process of finding a QB yet again. These things ,however take time as many peoples very livelihoods are at stake and owners don’t give up on GMs, coaches etc all that quickly. So if you’re hoping for change , stick around. It’s the NFL and it’s more common than not. You may want to take a hiatus for a couple years while you’re getting older though. Tempus Fugit

I don’t think Allen did his best in any way, and that’s what’s disappointing about his game yesterday. Even though he has next to no weapons and a suspect offensive coordinator I expect to see better. They need to make improvements to the offensive personnel( a RT, a FA and drafted WR, perhaps a TE and a new 2nd RB) and consider a change at OC with the playcalling duties. Allen’s best was most likely what he did vs DAL. He’s capable of that, and it’s what I expect most weeks. He didn’t deliver in that regard, but many failures around him contributed to the loss. Watson didn’t win his first playoff game either, so all isn’t lost. That’s just lost on some fans, who must blame the QB in a loss and credit everyone around him in victory. Just a weird way to watch football, with so much ire directed at one player.

Josh Allen didn’t allow 19 points by HOU in a quarter and a half of football. The reality is that in a 3 point OT loss, any number of plays not made by many Bills would likely have propelled the team to victory. Allen must shoulder some blame, but so do many defenders, WRs and coaches that failed in many areas. It must’ve been hard for you watching the Bills amass a 16 point lead with a player you despise so much at QB. It’s probably vindicating to watch a team fail in many areas so you can blame that player and pound your chest postgame on a message board. Doesn’t sound like an entertaining way to follow a team, though.

And what did Watson do in the first half ? Allen’s second half was disappointing for sure, but the coaches blew this game in a quarter and a half with a 16 point lead. Their all pro WR had 90 yards the second half as well, so he won that matchup. If either of two Bills defenders get Watson on the ground, the Bills may have pulled it out and you would be staying away from this board for at least a week or so.

Zero in-play penalties called on Houston
Boatdrinks replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didn’t really notice as the game was going on, but I’m not surprised. Don’t forget the Bills TD that was overturned when Corrente had correctly given the TD signal. The Texans basically got the New England treatment, as the NFL obviously wanted the JJ Watt/ Watson show. -
Completely different situation as it was an INT ( the rules don’t call for a signal from an intercepting player fo obvious reasons) and White made no effort to advance the ball. He may have even went to the ground. In this case the ruling would have been correct and absolutely should have been a TD for the Bills. If it was the other way around, the TD would have stood and the Bills coaching and player would be skewered for not knowing the rules. The lateral was a reckless play in many ways, but it did not cost the Bills this football game. It didn’t even cost them the chance to win , so it’s pretty pointless to think of what calamity may have happened if HOU recovers, etc.
-
And yet the team had a 16-0 lead on a division winner in the playoffs with less than a half of football to go. The coaches and players blew this one, there just isn’t any other way to spin it. Now, it’s quite likely that their playoff road would have ended at Arrowhead stadium . The offensive deficiencies we’ve all seen this season may have been too much to overcome. The Bills, however were not overmatched vs HOU. I will agree that going forward, offensive improvements are necessary and your premise is valid. That doesn’t excuse them from not securing the franchise’s first playoff win in 25 years this weekend.

AFC playoff teams were 4-0 versus NE this season
Boatdrinks replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That’s a bad sign, and shouldn’t be overlooked. The offensive coaching, personnel and the QB haven’t been good enough to solve the riddle of Belichick. McD has managed to foil Brady , but the Bills need to take a long look at everything on the offense. -
Duke today, did the bad outweigh the good?
Boatdrinks replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That’s a catch NFL WRs make with regularity. He dropped it. -
I really hoped Sean was the guy to bring some respectability back to the Bills. Now they’re talking about “ yet another in the list of epic Bills playoff losses”. That really sucks. It’s one thing to lose in the playoffs, but the more you look back at this one the more embarrassing it is. A 16-0 lead in the 2nd half should lead to a win in the playoffs, but McD was McDud tonight.

Daboll Brutal Down the Stretch
Boatdrinks replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Daboll can go. He’s not the OC to take this team where it wants to go. McD / Beane need to do a lot better here. -
Rules are in the book for a reason, and attention to detail should be admired not scorned. The Bills ST players knew it was a TD and reacted to the play accordingly. If a Bill had done that on a KO it would have been called a TD for the Texans and it would be pointed out incessantly on ESPN etc.

Post Playoff Game - Is Josh Allen the Bills Franchise QB?
Boatdrinks replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This poll needs an “ incomplete/ maybe”. -
They need better players on offense for sure, but this one is mostly on the coaches and their unwillingness to close the door on HOU. That’s an excuse for poor play that followed. It was about 25 yards of field position different from a punt.

We need an improved O-line and WRs
Boatdrinks replied to Lieutenant Aldo Raine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wrong. If it is fixed and Allen does not improve , that will be a problem. -
play clock ran out on 3-18 by a full second
Boatdrinks replied to oldschoolfootball1963's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A full second lag is usually deemed beyond the margin of error and will be called. It wasn’t. -
Didn’t seem like the coaches found him troublesome, if the 1 on 1 blocking was an indication. They should have devoted more attention to him.
-
This game was lost many ways, but the biggest was blocking
Boatdrinks replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good blocks lead to points. You don’t want a new QB, you want a magician ? -
Hauschka - made 19 out of his last 20 kicks
Boatdrinks replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seemed to get rid of the yips he had earlier in the season. -

Add that in with the bad illegal block call, two missed facemasks, blown call on KO that should have resulted in a Bills TD and a 20 -0 lead etc etc. League got the matchup they wanted. Watson and JJ Watt Vs Mahomes. -
Most everyone on this board is ticked off. This game was more winnable than at JAX as they had a 16 point lead in the 2nd half. It may not have been 35-3, but HOU got their revenge. Not sure what you’d like fans to do about it, but no one’s smiling after this one.
