  1. I think Beasley alone gets him there presuming he uses him, as he did in preseason. All young QBs do. I am trying to figure out when the idea of a young QB learning was replaced by having a young QB having to be what he’ll be within a year or two. The only rookie QB I can remember ever walking in and being really, really good was Marino. The list of guys that would be discarded today is crazy. Guys like Bradshaw, Aikman, Young, Brees and so on.
  2. I’ve gone through the math before and will do so again here. Let’s say Allen throws 30 passes in a game. A 52% rate is 15.4 catches and a 60% is 18 catches. So 2-3 incompletions have to turn into completions. Now does that reallly seem that impossible? Really? Just getting rid of Benjamin and his drops get you close probably. Not having to throw one ball away with a better O line vs. running for your life gets you there. Having Beasley running his routes gets you there. It is so tiresome to keep reading about how he’ll never be accurate as accuracy has little to do with completion percentage. It is so tiresome to keep reading that he has never done that in high school and college since it says nothing about the style of offense he ran or that his high school career has a tinker’s damn worth of relevance to the NFL. I am not transfixed on what his numbers will be or not be this year. In a second year QB I want to see the game slow down. I want to see his decision making evolve, see him go through progressions quicker, go to his safety valve and take the easier throw more. If he does that his numbers will look better. Putting some artificial limit on what we have to see is meaningless.
  3. There is not one player in the league with some God given right to play in the NFL. Why teams put up with this crap is beyond me. Indefinite suspension, and I wouldn't pay him another dime.
  4. D always has the edge early in the year
  5. It was Brown who F’d this up
  6. Been saying Zay all offseason so I’ll stick with it
  7. Because threatening your girlfriend should merit a raise.
  8. I’m just glad he’s not a Bill. I wonder with guys like this if an old school approach would work. Get 3-4 veteran linemen in the locker room, pin the fool up against a wall, and just beat the crap out of him day after day until he straightens up? If I were a teammate it would have to cross my mind.
  9. You and biscuit understand law better than me I’m sure. So my reaction is more heart than head. But at some point enough has to be enough, doesn’t it? I guess where I come from is this: AB does not have some inalienable right to earn a living as a WR in the NFL. If his behavior is such that no one wants to deal with his nonsense, then why not just be honest and say it?
  10. Roses are red Violets are blue I’m not schizophrenic And neither am I
  11. Even paranoid people have enemies.
  12. Yep. Collusion. And I’d challenge him and Rosenhaus to go to court.
  13. Good points. If Bojorquez is important to Hauschka performing then keep him
  14. The Raiders should cut him, take their signing bonus back, the 32 owners should state there is no place for him on any team and dare Brown and Rosenhaus to sue them.
  15. Now I know I’m getting older and my memory can get hazy, but two things come to mind here: 1. Has Barkley ever held for kicks? 2. The stuff about him getting hurt etc.? Go back and watch the comeback game. Christie’s holder wore # 14. Fellow named Reich. The starting QB that day. Concerns about a holder getting hurt seems overblown at minimum.
  16. I think anywhere from 8-8 to 10-6, and by the way I agree completely with your opinions in the two other big threads today. I think a team that will fall back includes the Rams. People will start figuring out MacVay.
  17. Best thing the team did in the offseason was bring in so many O linemen and bring in a competent O line coach to teach them.
  18. I don’t get upset by negative preseason stuff and I don’t get all excited by positive preseason stuff. No one knows what’s going to happen - every year teams that are supposed to stink do well and vice versa.
  19. The best football game I have every been to live was the ‘74 opening game, Monday night against the Raiders. The most exciting and emotional game was the ‘80 opener when after an entire decade of futility we finally squished the Fish.
  20. I will always take pride in helping carry the goal posts
  21. Because some folks don’t think
  22. Interesting. If they want to throw that kind of money at this kid, good for him. But my question is whether he's good enough to merit that once teams start to plan against McVay's schemes. You saw evidence of that in the Super Bowl when Belicheat shut them down. My gut is that the Rams will come back to earth a bit; I'm not convinced McVay is that much of a genius compared to the rest of the league. And with this contact and Donald's the Rams better win now or they will run into cap considerations and have to let some talent go in the upcoming years.
