Glad Mike Williams Was Off The Board When We Picked
TheElectricCompany replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We passed on two potential franchise QBs with our pick. I don't think we were running to the table with a WRs name on that card under any circumstance. -
What would you do with $100.00 right now?

Yes, calling tech support on day one of using the grill sounds quite enjoyable. -

Too funny, my neighbor was out of town last weekend and I cooked a 14 lb brisket and 10 lb pork shoulder on it. It was the Jim Bowie model. The good: Hudddggeee smoke ring on the pork shoulder, super juicy, a 9/10 performance. The bad: Major temperature swings (up to 75 degree difference between controller display and grill lid), probe temperature was wrong (showed 200 degrees internal brisket temp in 4 hours at 250????), burned through $22 in fuel in 12 hours, auger jammed 6 hours in required complete breakdown of grill. Basically, the "set it and forget it" appeal was gone, and all the issues I've had in owning a wood pellet stove at my home flared up again. I will not be buying one. Kamado has a huge temp range, uses less fuel, less parts to maintain, and can crush grill, smoking and hot oven requirements with ease. -

I would put it into my large Big Green Egg fund. -
Buffalonians vs New Yorkers
TheElectricCompany replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Nobody lives in Manhattan, it's too expensive Buffalo is no longer a place of manual laborers in overalls. I don't really know a city that still is, too many overseas and L.A. options to do it cheaper. -
Zeke Just Can't Stay Out of Trouble
TheElectricCompany replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So many assumptions, let's confirm he punched the guy first... Anyway, I think he's the second best back in the league (I'd go Johnson - Zeke - Leveon (availability is your best ability) - Shady) He has the best odds out of those four in sustaining success, mainly because of the 5 man wrecking crew ahead of him, but also because of age, skill set and the QB next to him. When you're OL can do this, you should sleep your way to 1,200 yards: -
Panthers Fire GM Dave Gettleman

I guess we see what we want to see... I see starter - starter - starter - rotational player behind Star and Shortt - TBD... -

They've retained their key players, that's what is important. Yes, they let Norman walk, but you do have to keep in mind that he was a one year wonder and was going for the #1 CB contract in football. They sign him, they can't give out the contracts to Matt Kalil and Kawann Short this year. -
Buffalonians vs New Yorkers

One of my favorite players, the hype on BBMB was insane, Vince Wilfork esque with the pass rushing skills of Reggie White -

He must have been quite a challenging personality to work with, because I don't think his draft, free agency and cap management warrant this. -
Buffalonians vs New Yorkers
TheElectricCompany replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The NYC "bluntness" doesn't bother me, but the "holier than thou" and "our way is the best way" mood that many of them seem to display does bother me. I have met wonderful people all over the country. I find those who live in areas with a "work to live" mindset to be my favorites. -

NYCers have no filter and generally less patience. Buffalo people tend to mind their own business. -
Livan Hernandez - Another Sad "Broke Former Pro" Story

The league does offer resources for financial guidance. How would you feel if your employer and their cronies told you what to save and what to spend, for your "best interest" and "because you don't know better"? You'd tell them to pound sand, as you should! Could be worse for these athletes, they could sign non competes, NDAs, or receive no financial guarantees beyond 12 months, like much of the work force already does. -

After you turn 18, there are no shortages of opportunities, or willing participants, to bury yourself in debt, work like a dog for pennies or be sent to a 120 degree desert to get your legs blown off. We need to do a better job of educating folks to make better personal, financial and professional decisions. When there are distressed and broken individuals all over the country sleeping under highways and begging for enough change to buy a sandwich or cup of coffee, I am not sympathetic to the troubles of professional athletes who earned millions and squandered it all. -

Quick read on what the NFLPA provides: https://www.sportsfinancial.org/the-nfls-financial-advisory-program/ My employer sure doesn't care about how I spend & save my money, yours probably doesn't either, so they are certainly the exception to the norm. In a perfect world, financial literacy would be a foundation of high school education, not employer's responsibilities. I'm not sympathetic to these stories. -
Q about getting to airport after game at New Era...
TheElectricCompany replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, you should be fine, assuming you can get to the airport by 615. I have never needed more than 15 minutes to get from the drop off to my gate. BUF may not have a ton of destination options, but my goodness, it is so damn easy to get in and out of the place. -
Embarrassing moments in your life
TheElectricCompany replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Working catering in college, had a Freudian slip. I had set up an ice cream bar in the gym, and this hottie I had seen in a few classes came up and asked if she could go ahead and serve herself. My response? "Yes, go ahead and touch yourself". -

Making of a Murderer
TheElectricCompany replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yes, was just going to say that, here is a link with lots of info on that: https://www.reddit.com/r/MakingaMurderer/comments/46ihaa/the_36_million_lawsuit_fiscal_impact_on_manitowoc/#bottom-comments $1-18 punitive + $1-18 compensatory. $100 million in county assets, $80 million in operating budget, doesn't add up. -
Making of a Murderer

There is much to dislike about MC & many of the characters involved. It was clear that Len was not serving in his client's interest from the start, and regardless of the crime and their role, that is the not purpose of a defense attorney. It was also clear that MC was far from "fair and unbiased" in their approach and likely hoped from the start that Avery was guilty. It was also clear that the methods the police department took with the case, especially with Dassey, serve as a cautionary tale that one should "shut up and lawyer up" pretty damn quick! All of this is true, but that doesn't take away from the evidence that did point to him committing the crime. How easily we gloss over the body parts, blood, bullets and DNA that convicted him. I don't know enough about the lawsuit in particular, but what happens if MC is found guilty? Bankruptcy? It's the county coffers at stake, not Ken and Len's personal assets. Life would go on. I don't think your employers bank account getting pillaged is enough motivation to push everyone that would have to be involved to to conspire, murder and frame. -
Making of a Murderer
TheElectricCompany replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I think you are giving people to much credit. An unsettled lawsuit against a rural backwoods county isn't enough to get multiple attorneys (on both sides of the courtroom), DA, LEOs from two police departments and some random people in between enough reason to conspire to murder and frame, all while escaping any prosecution of their own. You watched the show...I don't think Ken, Len, Andrew and Company are the sharpest tools in the shed. No way they could pull it off, even if they wanted to.
