He’s not an NHL caliber goaltender, at least not for the Sabres. We desperately need a better backup goalie (Johansson isn’t NHL caliber either. He might not even be AHL caliber) or Krueger just needs to start Ullmark for every single game (not very realistic). You can see how deflated the team gets when Hutton lets in a softie. It has to be demoralizing.

Bills fans seriously need to stop paying attention to that guy. He says ridiculous stuff on purpose because he knows hundreds of bills fans will get all worked up over it and amplify his comments. He’s a troll that craves attention. Don’t give it to him. (this comment is not directed at you, just talking in general).

With a win today the Sabres cam move into a playoff spot. Lets see how bad the players actually want to make the playoffs. A lot of times I kind of feel like it’s just lip service (even with Eichel). If they truly want to make the playoffs they should look like the more desperate team on a nightly basis, not just an occasional game or period here and there. I really do think they’ve been playing pretty good overall this season. Their team defensive structure has been impressive and they’re creating more scoring chances + starting to get to the dirty areas more consistently. But I’m still left wanting a more consistent effort. I know it’s tough to play every game with the energy they had during that 1st Philly game (where they looked like they simply wouldn’t be denied), but that should be the goal (IMO).

Hopkins can celebrate that play all he wants, but he looks like a fool for doing it. If that’s the highlight of his career, that’s actually kind of sad because it was a meaningless play in the grand scheme of things. Arizona lost 3 straight games after the “hail Murray” and 5 of the last 7 games of the season... His team went .500 while the team with Hyde, Poyer and White went 15-4, won the AFCE and went to the AFC championship. So glad we got Diggs instead of Hopkins!

I wouldn’t trade him if I were Houston. He is BY FAR their most important player AINEC. He seems to be upset because he wasn’t included in the GM hire. But What QB ever is? Im not aware of any NFL teams that consult their players on GM hires. Now, if Cal McNair offered to let Watson have say then went back on his word, he deserves blame. But I still think Watson is being a bit unreasonable here.

I’m excited to see what he does in year 2, although the sophomore slump has been real for a number of recent draft picks. Hopefully it won’t be an issue for Davis. Im also excited to see what isaiah hodgins can do. I read that he was looking really good before injury. I remember some reporters even saying that he looked better than Davis.

Sabres desperately need to at least get league average goaltending. Ideally they’d trade for a starting caliber goalie. Get a slightly above average goalie and they may actually have a shot at the playoffs, especially if the goals start going in for them. The chances are there and net front presence is definitely getting better. They’ve been unlucky though (according to the advanced stats).

Seattle hired Rams pass game coordinator Shane Waldron as OC but what’s up with Miami? I didn’t know they were interested in Dorsey.

I think I’d rather face Brady than Rodgers. Rodgers is having an unbelievable season. Plus it would be so much fun getting to face, and hopefully beat Brady in a super bowl.

Same here. By no means do I want to lose Frazier. But if I had to choose either him or Daboll, I’d choose Frazier. McDermott made his name as a defensive coordinator, and I think we have some really good in house candidates to be DC already - like Eric Washington and John Butler. If Frazier is hired I just hope he doesn’t raid the Bills coaching staff to fill his. He has tons of connections around the NFL though. It’s not like he needs to hire Bills coaches.

It’s an interesting trade. Both players were unhappy and wanted out. Neither really got what they wanted... PLD (reportedly) wanted to go to a big city. Winnipeg is like NHL’s Siberia. But I read his dad coaches Winnipeg’s AHL team in Manitoba. Laine (reportedly) wanted to play with a true #1 C and the blue jackets current best center is now Domi(? 😬). Supposedly he also wanted to go somewhere he could kind of be the guy and get steady top line minutes. Laine is definitely the better goal scorer. He’s one of the best pure goal scorers in the NHL (IMO). PLD plays a bit better 2 way game (but still isn’t the greatest 2 way player). Laine doesn’t really play much defense from what I’ve seen in my limited viewings. So I think it all depends on how Tortorella and Laine mesh. I don’t exactly see Laine as a Tortorella type player but he made it work well with Panarin. It also depends on what happens with both guys contracts - if either team can get the player signed long term. I think Columbus wins this trade if they can sign Laine and he meshes with Torts. Laine is the better overall player IMO (when he’s playing like he did his 1st two seasons) and Getting Roslovic for a 3rd should help their C depth (assuming he’s able to stick at center). If Torts uses Laine similar to Panarin it changes the whole dynamic of that Blue Jackets team. Panarin drove their whole offense. They haven’t really been the same since he left. I don’t know if Laine can drive the offense the same way, but we’ll see. he’s also been somewhat disappointing in recent seasons. And I’m not sure how he looks with CBJ’s current centers. PLD was their best center without a doubt. But CBJ needed an elite goal scorer. PLD could be a nice fit for Winnipeg too, if he’s happy and willing to sign long term there. He was a beast in the playoffs. They really have some envious depth at center now.

Good article. Thanks for sharing. When Diggs was traded here I was hopeful he and Allen would be a good match. I wasn’t all that worried about the “diva” stuff because I trust Beane and the Bills locker room culture, but also because from what I had read the issue with Diggs was more about Cousins than anything else. I read that Diggs and Cousins just didn’t mesh well. That Diggs didn’t think Cousins was a “dog” on the field (like Case Keenum was). Felt that there were times Cousins didn’t want to win as badly as he (Diggs) did. So I was hopeful that he would be a good match with Allen, and he certainly has been! It feels like the perfect fit for Diggs. I hope he’s found his new permanent home (and I think he has).
