  1. Just found some old best,R’s records cleaning my attic. Actually found about 200 (+/-) records total, and an old technics turntable. Found some old EPI100 speakers too but it sounds like they need a new woofer (not worth it). Anyone here into home audio?
  2. First big upset - Montreal eliminated Pittsburgh from the play-in round. Montreal will advance to the playoffs. Coyotes eliminated the Predators too. Leafs are facing elimination tonight (8pm EST). I’m torn because I’d lie to see them eliminated but I don’t want them getting the 1st overall pick. That would be a nightmare. Adding LaFreniere to Marner, Matthews, Tavares, Morgan Rielly, Nylander... ugh.
  3. Hey @Hapless Bills Fan did you see this study yet? https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(20)30228-5/fulltext Cerebral Micro-Structural Changes in COVID-19 Patients – An MRI-based 3-month Follow-up Study Looks like it was a follow-up study done 3 months after the patient got covid. Ages: It looks like they were not elderly patients. bit over my head here... lol
  4. The first rapid test was used because he was visiting trump. Anyone who visits Trump has to take that rapid covid test before they visit. It’s part of their protocol. I don’t know for sure why they use that test for people visiting the president but I would guess that they use the rapid antigen test because PCR tests are sent to a lab and it takes longer to get results, which would complicate things. Some details on what happened: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/06/us/mike-dewine-coronavirus.html
  5. It doesn’t really diminish my confidence in the widespread daily testing being done with the general public. The way I understand it is the rapid antigen tests (the one that produced a false positive) aren’t as accurate as the PCR tests. But as far as I know, I don’t think those rapid tests are that widely used in the general public. When the general public is tested for covid, I believe it’s a RT-PCR test the vast majority of the time (which is why you hear of people having to wait to get their test results vs getting them instantly like the tests used for people visiting the president). https://www.eamc.org/news-and-media/a-look-at-the-three-most-common-types-of-covid-19-tests ‘A Look at the Three Most Common Types of COVID-19 Tests’ With PCR tests (or I believe it’s a reverse transcription PCR test in the case of covid), I believe it’s is much more difficult to get a false positive simply due to the nature of the test (the viral RNA has to be there for a reaction to happen). Info on PCR testing for covid: https://discoverysedge.mayo.edu/2020/03/27/the-science-behind-the-test-for-the-covid-19-virus/ I believe @Hapless Bills Fan has addressed this topic once before. I don’t want to post incorrect info so I’ll let hapless answer (and possibly correct me....lol).
  6. I was thinking the same thing! Who’s going to do it...? Split the profits? ?
  7. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/06/us/united-states-failure-coronavirus.html#click=https://t.co/PJO9fCJzP3 interesting read.
  8. Selfishly, I hope Tre plays. But I won’t hold it against any player that opts out this season. Even someone crucial like Josh Allen. Many of us have had to make tough decisions because of this virus. I know I certainly have. Tre opting out would leave quite a hole to fill, but I have faith in McDermott when it comes to his defense. I’m confident that he’d find a way to still field a good secondary + defense.
  9. I’ve been curious about that 15+ minute thing myself. I feel like there’s definitely been examples of people who got covid without 15+ minutes of exposure, but I think the numbers are much lower than for longer exposures. So I’m thinking maybe it comes down to the probabilities? Infection = Exposure to virus x Time. (as hapless has mentioned) You need to receive an infectious dose of the virus (I’ve read that it could be as little as 1000 virus particles for covid, which may sound like a lot but a single cough/sneeze from a covid infected person cans release as many as 200 MILLION virus particles). The more time you spend with someone infected, the greater the chances you receive that infectious dose. The chances of receiving that infectious dose with a quick contact are low (unless they cough/sneeze in your face or something). I also wonder if the 15+ minute exposure time has to do in part with setting an attainable goal for contact tracing? I think it would be almost impossible to trace every contact someone had, especially with case counts as high as they are in some places. How would you even contact random people they may have come into contact with anyway? You’d have to have some type of contact tracing/tracking programs on phones (which I think Apple may have been working on? I remember reading something about that in an update for my iPad but I don’t know if it was ever implemented). Found this on the CDC site:
  10. The NHL’s success so far is making me hopeful for an NFL season, even if they have to go to a “bubble” like the NHL is using (assuming players are willing to agree to it for an entire season). Im hoping things continue to go well for the NHL. I’d say so far, so good though (knocks on wood...). Maybe the NFL won’t even need it if they can get the initial positive cases under control and then the players + staff all make sure they don’t do anything to put themselves at risk of contracting covid. Without a bubble I think a lot of this is going to fall to every player + employee (and their families) really adhering strongly to every precautionary guideline, especially when they’re away from the team. They’re almost going to have to create their own bubbles for the season. Meaning, keep their group of contacts small. Don’t have lots of guests over. No undue risks, like going out clubbing/bar hopping. I don’t know how it’ll work with players who have kids (especially those attending in-person schools). You can’t tell a player not to be with his kids. This virus is so damn sneaky in how it spreads. It’s definitely going to be a challenge to pull off this season, but the NFL and teams/owners seems willing to pour an awful lot of money/resources into it. I wouldn’t bet against it happening.
  11. This is pretty cool. Didn’t know where else to put it. more: https://sportsnaut.com/2020/08/look-denver-broncos-using-misting-booth-to-help-protect-players-from-covid-19/ they’re using a product called “microSure”, which is touted as a powerful nontoxic disinfectant that kills viruses like E.Coli and Coronavirus on contact.

  13. Praying for everyone there! ?
  14. Masks are a personal choice according to Paulding county, and social distancing will only be observed if possible. 70% of parents chose in school learning for their kids. 30% chose online, but the ones who chose online still have to go to school in person in the mean time, while online learning is set up. Link: https://www.11alive.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/paulding-at-home-learning-wait-list/85-00d037bd-eaa0-4fbe-9c06-dd21b40d335a and here’s Missouri’s Governor: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/07/20/missouri-gov-mike-parson-says-kids-get-over-covid-19/5474557002/ 'They’re going to get over it': Missouri Gov. insists kids must go back to school even though 'they will' get COVID-19 I sure hope he’s right. I know there’s no easy answers to this situation. But I feel like some of these school districts are basically using these kids as a giant medical/science experiment.
  15. So is the NHL covid bubble working? I would say that it appears to be so far. I really hope it continues. It gives me (more) hope for sports this year!
  16. I (thankfully) don’t have any kids in school, but talking with friends and family in multiple different counties and states, plans definitely seem to be all over the place. Like my friend near Rochester, their school is likely going with a hybrid plan - 2 days in class 3 days remote (or vise versa, can’t remember). They have detailed guidelines and require the kids to wear masks at all times. My cousin who teaches elementary school upstate, her school is having the kids at school 5 days a week. They have to wear masks entering the school but are allowed to take them off once they sit at their desk. She’s very worried about this, to say the least.
  17. https://twin-cities.umn.edu/news-events/research-brief-new-study-explores-how-coronavirus-travels-indoors Research Brief: New study explores how coronavirus travels indoors interesting read.
  18. Yep. https://thehockeywriters.com/2020-nhl-draft-lottery-round-2-explained/ I feel for Detroit. That was worst case scenario for them. But I’m also kind of glad. There was a chance the top 3 picks from this draft all landed right in our division (Detroitx1 and Ottawa x2). So now the teams left in our division that are in this play-in round are Toronto, Montreal and Florida. If any of those 3 fail to quality for the playoffs, they’ll get 12.5% odds at that #1 overall pick. The other teams in the play-in round: East- Pittsburgh, Carolina, NYI, NYR, Blue Jackets West- Chicago, Calgary, Edmonton, Nashville, Arizona, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Minnesota
  19. Philly vs. Boston today at 3pm (EST) should be a good game!
  20. It’ll go to one of the 8 teams that don’t make the 16 team playoff round. So if a team loses in this play-in round, they’ll get a chance at #1 overall. I believe each team gets a 1 in 8 chance iirc. So, for example, if Toronto doesn’t make the 16 team playoff round they’ll end up with a 1 in 8 shot at the #1 overall pick. It would be a f’ing nightmare if they added LaFreniere to Matthews, Marner, Tavares! I’m hoping the pick goes out west somewhere.
  21. It so nice having hockey back! Im enjoying this Montreal Vs Pittsburgh game. I’m kind of rooting for Montreal. Actually, I’m kind of rooting for every team in our division during this play-in round. Even Toronto. I don’t want that 1st overall pick to end up in our division. After the play-in round I’ll pick a new team to root for, but until then, Go East! lol play-in round Tv schedule: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/2020/08/01/nhl-playoffs-times-tv-stanley-cup-games/5557652002/
  22. I am thrilled to have live hockey back to watch, but It’s also kind of depressing watching all these other teams get ready for the playoffs. I know they didn’t deserve to be there (though neither do some of these other teams....) but I would have loved to see what Ralph Krueger could do in more of a tournament setting like this. He’s pulled off some pretty huge upsets coaching tournament play over the years (beating team canada for silver has to be the most memorable. That was Insane!). Plus, with all the time off and strange circumstances we see some weird upsets in these play in rounds. The Sabres have been known to get hot for a stretch too... It would have been a lot of fun. Well, maybe. If they didn’t **** the bed right away. ?
