Here’s the info on Xbox pre orders for anyone interested.

Staal is definitely playing, so we can put any talk of retirement to bed. It’s always hard to tell from a single interview just days after a trade, but I felt like he seems to be embracing his new role here. This guy is such a massive addition to the locker room if he’s bought in and embracing his role as a veteran leader/mentor here. He’s not washed up either, like some of the vets we’ve added during this rebuild. He’s still performing on the ice so his words should carry weight. He should have instant respect from everyone in that locker room. Honestly, IMO, we haven’t added a leader of this caliber since probably Chris Drury.

I would imagine they may eventually make an emulator to play old PlayStation games. But It will be backward compatible with the ps4 games from day 1. The Xbox (series x with the disc drive, not the digital one. That one looks crappy) actually has more raw power than the PlayStation, and Xbox game pass has tons of games + they just did a deal with EA to put their entire game catalog on the game pass. So they will soon have the entire EA lineup (60+ games) on game pass. I guess the series x is going to upscale all of the old game pass games to 4k. Sounds pretty cool. There’s actually a really cool deal on the game pass ultimate too (which gives you game pass, Xbox gold and game pass for Windows PC). You sign up for Xbox gold (up to 3 years. Gold is 1/3 the price of game pass ultimate) and then it converts how many ever months/years you have of gold to Xbox ultimate for $1. I ended up doing the full 3 years since you can only get the deal 1 time. I like Xbox’s game pass a lot better than Sony’s. They have more games overall and they add new games more frequently. I know I’ll get the Xbox eventually but I went PlayStation first just due to all the exclusive games. Plus Xbox frequently has sales on their consoles. I feel like It’s much more rare that PlayStation puts their consoles on sale. you’re lucky man. They didn’t even show in stock for me and I tried exactly at 9pm too. All my friends had the same issue. I think maybe 1 of 10 different people I know who tried were able to get one. Are you planning on pre ordering the Xbox too? I thought about it (and I still am) but I think I’ll most likely probably hold out and see if I can catch it on sale some time in 2021. Honestly, with how in demand these ps5’s are I thought about trying to get the Xbox pre order then if I’m able to, sell my PlayStation for 2x the money. That way I could eventually end up with both consoles for the price of 1 (I know I’d likely have to wait until 2021 to be able to get the PlayStation again, but that’s when most of their big exclusive games come out anyway. The only 2 that I know of that’ll be out at launch are ratchet & clank + the new yakuza series). I don’t even know how you’d go about selling a pre order though. It’s in my name, on my CC. How would that even work? I don’t want to be one of “those guys” anyway, scalping my PlayStation. I can’t stand the people who buy them all up and sell them for 2x the money. There were some people on eBay with 10+ consoles, all listed for ridiculous prices. Every store needs to start going to a 1 per customer limit IMO to help avoid this issue. A number of them did, so I don’t know how some people were able to buy so many. hey, btw, did you check out that virtual haircut video I posted above? If you have headphones you should def. check it out. It was so cool. It’s going to be so cool to play games with 3D audio. I’m in the process of upgrading my home theater too so I can’t wait to try 3D sound on my big home theater speakers!

Nice! Yeah I tried to see if I could get one at 9pm, just for ***** & giggles and they showed that they were sold out within about 30 seconds of going live at 9pm. I only tried once or twice (I wasn’t actually planning on buying another) before I gave up. Saw tons of people on Twitter bitching about how they went out of stock in 30secs. So you are lucky you got one man! how did you get it to work? Did you just keep refreshing the page or what? Mine is being delivered too. Best Buy gives you the option to change it but I’m scared to. I initially tried doing store pickup but it told me that method was out of stock, so I’m scared if I switch it to store pickup it’ll cancel my order. 😂 I can wait a week or whatever it is for shipping (once it comes out). One thing I saw mentioned about Xbox giving a time so far in advance is that people were saying it gives people a chance to set up those bots to buy em all up. Don’t know if that’s true or not. This is the first time I ever tried t9 pre order a console so this is all new to me. Guess we will see how Tuesday goes.

this was one of my first thoughts as well. Staal is the perfect player for Cozens to model his game after. They both use that long reach they have and staal is such a smart player. Cozens could learn so much from watching his game.

Starting to look thin is putting it nicely. 😂 They don’t have a top 6 center on their roster (IMO). Listening to their GM it sounds like Johansson is going to be getting a lot of minutes. I’d call him a top 6 winger (or top 9 on a good team (like Boston)). I’d call Rask a 3rd liner. Heres what their GM said about Johansson: Also said he will be playing center. Id be nervous about that quote as a Minnesota fan. But as you said maybe there is another move coming? I could see Dumba being traded for a top 6 C. They’re definitely doing a major retool. Staal was one of the main leaders in the locker room. I guess Koivu was told he won’t be brought back. They almost traded Parise to NYI at the deadline (and I could still see a Parise trade happening). They did just sign Brodin to a 7yr deal though, and they did finally get Kirill Kaprizov signed to an NHL deal. Wild fans have been waiting forever for that dude. He was drafted in 2015! It’ll be interesting to see what other moves they make.

I signed up for pre order email alerts from Best Buy, GameStop, amazon and Sony and I have yet to get a single email from any of them (even though they’re already out of stock...) 🤷‍♂️ I heard WalMart is releasing more stock on the 22nd (both online and in person iirc). I have a feeling you may see Sony release more that day too, just to mess with the Xbox series X pre orders that go live on the 22nd. If I see anything I’ll shoot you a message. Check out @IGNDeals on Twitter. They were all over it. They were sharing links to live/in stock pre orders on every site as soon as they went live. Also @geoffkeighley on Twitter. He’s the one who leaked that PS5 pre orders were starting last night and he was sharing links to pre orders too.

For a 30 year old injury prone left winger (the Sabres deepest position) w/1 season left on his contract who misses games every year. It’s not like Adams traded away a young player or high draft pick. It was a 1 for 1 swap and We easily got the better player. And staal has the cheaper cap hit to boot! Staal adds tons of veteran leadership too, something we were desperately missing. He’s a pro’s pro that everyone raves about. And it’s not like he’s washed up. He put up 19 goals and 47pts in 65 games (Johansson put up 30pts in 60 games). Last year was the 1st time in 4 years he didn’t crack 50pts but If he played 80 games (which he usually does) he easily cracks 50pts, something we haven’t had from our 2C since ROR was traded. The season before staal had 22 goals at 52pts. And the year before that he put up a massive 42 goals and 76pts. He is a legit 2C still. He was a legit 1C for most of his career.

Yeah it was a total cluster ****. I was actually finally able to get my Best Buy order to go through about close to 3am. I had given up. I pressed the “place order” button one more time and walked away. Went downstairs to get a glass of water before I went to bed, fully expecting that when I came back my computer would still be on that same “place order” screen. As I’m filling my glass of water downstairs I hear my cell phone ding. So I went up to check it and to my surprise it was an “order confirmed” text from Best Buy. Their website was not AT ALL prepared to handle the PS5 launch. I mother ****-ed Best Buy quite a few times last night. 😂 I kept saying their website was the worst because they kept giving you hope. At least the other websites would say out of stock where as Best Buy kept teasing me. But it eventually went through so I guess I can’t be mad anymore. I would hope so after how many times they bragged about increased production to meet demand. Ill tell ya what though, as frustrating as it was the way it went down, when my order actually finally went through I was so relieved that I didn’t feel too upset about paying the full retail price... 😂 I’m usually the type that would wait a year for the price to drop but with being stuck home a lot more and with all the great games releasing right around the time the new consoles arrive, I really wanted to get one. Afaik it’s only ps4 games as of now.

😂 I was just aggravated with the way the launch went. It was total chaos. PlayStation said they’d give advanced notice of the launch date then all the sudden pre orders are live and they’re sold out almost everywhere a day before they’re even set to launch and the places that had them wouldn’t let you complete the order because the websites kept crashing. It fit the theme of 2020 pretty well. 😂 I ended up getting one from Best Buy. Order finally just randomly went through. I had actually given up on trying and I got a text message saying my order was complete 🤷‍♂️

I have to give Adams props. He found a legitimate #2C. Not a winger being forced to play C, or a rookie draft pick in over his head. A good veteran 2C to play behind Eichel. Staal is old but should be better than what we’ve had at 2C since ROR. And he did it before the Sabres even took the ice for the first time during his tenure. That’s something Botterill was unable to do in 3 seasons. And to make it worse, it was a hole HE Created. Botts already had the best damn #2C in the league on his f*&$#&* roster when he took over the job! Anyway... won’t rehash that again. I know MoJo was a good veteran leader for the Sabres (esp. our Swedes). But Staal should also be a good veteran addition to the locker room, and he’s a legitimate center, not a winger who hasn’t play C in years. He won a Cup with our GM. Hopefully he’s on board with coming here (I assume he is) and will help establish the culture Adams+Krueger are looking for. I fully expect Adams to add more veteran players before the start of the season.
