I disagree with that Venables was by far the best choice.. literally getting a consensus top five national player who's a quarterback.. Arnold... And him being the biggest fraud in Oklahoma football history is a much bigger part of why you're struggling He was supposed to be Baker Mayfield on steroids.. he literally didn't even make it five games into his rs freshman year So then you had to throw a true freshman to the wolves who was not ready.. your season was already over there But Brett.. is the only coach who has been able to create a defense non sec that has been able to stop Nick saban's Alabama offense in a national championship game Holding them to 14... He also held hurts to like 140 passing yards in their 35-31 Natty win Unless saban is playing Georgia.. Brett is the only one to get results Oklahoma's defense is still really good... You just had the biggest fraud at QB I thought Jackson Arnold was going to be a Heisman trophy winner

Brady under fire for calling Josh a "spaz" on Sunday's broadcast...
Buffalo716 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
True You know.. he's a commentator or a color analyst or whatever you want to call it So he should probably be more careful.. I understand it's definitely touchy But I don't think he was comparing him to somebody with palsy, he definitely could have used a better word Chicken with his head cut off -

Buffalo716 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes but United Kingdom vernacular and American English vernacular are completely different I'm not saying the word can't be used derogatorily.. but it has close to 70 years use in America not related to disabilities In the '50s teenagers use the word spaz as the opposite of tough In the 1960s the American editor for Oxford dictionary said that there was a shift in the American meaning of the word.. going from spastic which could relate to cerebral palsy... Too nerdy weird or uncool It is all so became a word for uncoordinated Some words in Australian English are considered normal but derogatory in America.. the English that the people in England speak is also not the same as American English.. over hundreds of years slang and even how words are used or changed I don't even like Tom Brady but I don't think he used the word in relation to a disability .. saying Josh plays like he has cerebral palsy I think it was more along the lines of how old Josh would be all over the place uncontrolled -

That's what happens when you're down to your third and fourth option in the NFL lol -

Josh Allen vs Patrick Mahomes: The changing of the guard?
Buffalo716 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh Allen has been consistently getting better since he entered the NFL Patrick mahomes has plateaued Josh's arrow has been up and keeps pointing up Patrick mahomes is arrow is no longer pointing up Yes it's a very valid question because super bowls is a team stat.. Josh Allen is eclipsing Patrick mahomes -
That just shows you how piss poor linguists recruiting was that they don't even have one capable Mac backup

The problem is the best path to the pros has always been division one football None of these Semi-Pro teams.. or amateur leagues or even potential future feeder leagues have the money and the infrastructure to develop 18 to 23-year-old kids into professional football players like these elite institutions that have been doing it for 100 years Ohio State and Georgia and Alabama and schools like that have better facilities than any NFL team.. they do... That's not to say NFL facilities like the bills aren't world class...they are... That just shows you how good the sec's facilities are and big tens So no independent or minor league system will ever have the hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars poured into their facilities like these major division 1 schools do They've been playing college football for 130 years some of these schools , some more... They are the pipeline It's not like professional baseball where kids can get drafted and developed into a minor league system or signed from other countries and developed through the minor leagues The minor leagues is division 1 football

I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better

Well you're right on He's hitting the disagree button lol -
It is definitely an unbalanced situation but college football players on scholarship already get close to $200,000 in a free education They get their housing paid for and they get meal plans Now , the argument has been that colleges make a lot of money off of them so they should get something in return.. which is fair But life isn't fair... They are called student athletes for a reason.. 99% Don't Go pro so focusing on your academics should be a big part of any college football player They will do anything to help you get your degree and get you the best job you can get... All while having your school paid for , your housing and food paid for, and being King of the Hill Even before nil schools like Alabama scholarship players would have $3,000 stipends a month... That's on top of their scholarship and Free housing and food Even UB players got a stipend.. even if it was $500 a month... That's along with everything else with your scholarship

Buffalo716 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I said their skill set are similar not that he's as good as AmST I obviously don't think he will ever sign 120 million dollar contract but neither did Julian Edelman He's a reliable Target for what the offense does and he does it well.. he has chemistry with Josh and can beat zone coverage is getting better at beating man coverage and has reliable hands And he runs hard after the catch and is a team player... There have been plenty of great role players who have developed into more But last year at the end of the year he was out playing and got more yards than diggs like the last 7 weeks of the season , he's doing nothing then getting better all the time Just discounting him to a career role player is kind of early when his entire game is improving .. Bill belichick was the only person in the world who was willing to make Julian Edelman the centerpiece of an NFL offense.. and Welker.. both just thought to be great role players Shakir doesn't need 165 targets like diggs... He'll catch 75-80 balls on 110 targets... And go for a 950 -

Buffalo716 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Players literally develop with more playing time... And every great player gets schemed open.. every single coach draws up plays to get their number one guy open even #2 AMST almost had as many snaps as a rookie as shakir has had his entire career... AmST 816 snaps as a rook shakir has like 900 in his career.. Repetitions is massive Shakir can run good routes, not as good as AMST but he's twitchy They both thrive better from the slot... They're both aggressive runners who can break tackles Consistent hands One has extremely more experience against NFL man coverage so he is better and adjusting to certain leverages and winning on the fly Shakir has done nothing but outplay his draft status and limited opportunities.. he is much better than Gabe Davis ever was who was a team captain and just got like 13 million dollars a year He absolutely is a thousand yard receiver , we just don't throw the ball all over the yard anymore He's not an all pro but he is definitely giving defensive backs problems and most of the League Play zone and he beats zone and has the attributes to become better at beating man which he doesn't struggle at Even the chart says he's right there average with limited reps and he's getting better His arrow is squarely up and you're either getting better or worse in the NFL -

It's the NFL Outside of the five or six all pros of the last couple years... There's a lot of wide receiver talent in the NFL What separates them is scheme usage and targets Again outside of the top four five six guys... There's a whole bunch of guys who could be top 15-20 guys in the NFL in the right system with the right quarterback and targets There are literally 40 + guys who could be thousand yard receivers if they received consistent targets inside their scheme -

I think those are 2 similar guys St Brown a little bigger but shakir a little faster ... Both super tough runners and savvy route runners -

He plays in a dome the majority of the year ... At least 8 games sometimes more Great kicker , easy home kicking environment -
Matt Harmon: "Khalil Shakir is the perfect WR for the modern NFL"
Buffalo716 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the bills are letting shakir live in the moment and they're not going to ask him to do too much He's a really good slot receiver who can do some other stuff.. and they're going to keep asking him to do what he's comfortable with Going across the middle and taking screens and breaking tackles -

Justin Jefferson was top five in the NFL in yards from the slot in 2022 and 2023 He does crazy damage from the slot the majority of his career Now I'm not comparing him to Justin Jefferson who is the most talented receiver in the league .. But shakir is able to get open outside when asked .. his technique with his play strength and burst gives him a lot of release options that he's only going to improve
