McBean’s draft history and who we draft at 27
Buffalo716 replied to LEBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
So I’m very shocked he did not run sub 4.4 As someone who’s played coached and scouted for 30 years… I have a pretty good eye for 40s I can see the difference between a 4.44 and a 4.49 pretty well… I could tell lavishka shenault a few years ago was a 4.5+ guy but since he ran by people everybody thought he must be 4.4s or 4.3s… it’s east to see he’s not now I pegged Hyatt as a 4.35 guy and a 4.40 is very surprising …. But runners have bad days … and his gait at 30 yards is perfect no wasted movement … I’m just bummed he probably had a bad day -

I think Hyatt is dynamic and his game speed is great but 4.40 is not elite anymore … If he ran a 4.30 I would take him 100% at 27 The 4.4 makes it tougher in the top 30 with his physicality … 4.4 isn’t elite on the radar anymore -

I don’t have a top 30 grade in Hyatt but he’s is in the top 50 i love his gait… he didn’t blaze a 4.3 but he gallops like a thoroughbred I think he’s a lee evans type guy , without the polish rn -

Gunner's 2023 Draft Quarterback Evaluations
Buffalo716 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Levis Is not my highest rated quarterback because some of his warts But he is the only one I would take in the top 10 If my job was on the line I think Richardson will have big time running ability for a few years If you put a gun to my head and forced me to take a quarterback in the top 10 Levis Richardson Young Stroud -

I’m definitely not rooting for him to fail… I don’t root for anybody in my Sport to fail I know some really good scouts… Who do not care about his size… They have adopted their philosophy on quarterbacks to not care as much about height And I agree he processes the game, so well … I can literally see a right handed Steve Young if he was 6’2… He is the most cerebral quarterback I’ve seen since luck And his arm is good also… This is why he’s an enigma… Will football Go to a new mold where he can thrive or stay the same …. Until I see the 5 foot10… Skinny first round kid make it… I can’t hitch my wagon But God bless him -

I fully understand that But each was able to actually have a bridge quarterback lead them to the playoffs… They just couldn’t complete the next step I fully get what you’re saying you need to take a shot I just think Bryce Young would get me fired -

That’s why the GM needs to have a legitimate plan The Chiefs went 35 years without starting a quarterback they took in the first round… before mahomes They always figured out The quarterback game pretty well without investing a top pick in the 2000s…. Until they saw the guy… Trent green and Matt cassell to Alex smith all had some success there… all had at least a 10 win season Now I’m not saying it’s smart to wait 25 years to draft a quarterback in the 1st…. But I wouldn’t draft one just to draft one -

If I was a GM picking top five… I would rather trade for Aaron Rodgers for a year or two Or go get bridge quarterback for a season The bills got mediocrity out of Tyrod Taylor and a playoff… A GM can build a good team in three seasons Which can mask QB play I’m not drafting a scrub like Zach Wilson second overall I would much rather take Hendon hooker in the 4th -

I think if I was a GM… And I was about the hitch my wagon to him first or second overall I don’t think I would be the GM of the team in five years Sure he will get drafted early… And as I said I don’t think he will pan out -

Yea I saw luck live his Fr and SO year and he was mentally above every QB I’ve ever seen at that age and he was athletic Bryce is mentally so good… he knows where to go … where to look safety’s off … his arm is live … he can run …. If he was 6’2 he would be a right handed Steve young now the comp is tough because … I do Value nfl size… like he doesn’t need 6’4… but he’s the smallest QB I’ve seen besides flutie who was not a top pick -

That’s not what I said I said as player coach and scout for 30+ years… I can’t hitch my wagon to him That’s why they measure people in the NFL He’s just too small for me … But supremely talented But I would not and could not take him first overall… That’s the difference between college and the pros -

That’s why I can’t give him a grade Because his film and attributes are a boarderline 7.0 But The NFL is a grown man’s game… And I just can’t grade him correctly with that that diminutive size I could not take him in the top 10 -

Yea I still grade non QBs on that scale but obviously 6.5 isn’t QB1 lol for a guard but 6.5 would be day 1 starter … which would not be a round 1 grade for a guard for me … top 60 grade If I’m taking a guard round one he’s gotta be a 7.0 -
