  1. Now am I saying he could play reckless year-round? Absolutely not But you don't draft a guy like Allen, then try and turn him into Peyton Manning He has so much success as he has, and he is so hard to defend because of his dual threat abilities He has the ability to sit in the pocket and go through 3 reads but he also has the ability to break off long runs at any time His ability to break off chunk runs and throw with world class ability on the run outside the pocket keeps defensive coordinators up at night Still wish he would learn to slide better
  2. More quarterback injuries happen inside the pocket then outside the pocket Especially at Josh's size... Outside the pocket he's taking on smaller safeties defensive backs and even linebackers he's bigger than Inside the pocket he has 300 lb grown men falling on his knees and ankles.. that's where you get the season ending injuries He's banged up, but he'll be perfectly fine.. there's a better chance that whatever safety he lowers his shoulder into gets hurt before him
  3. He Doesn't always call a time out in that situation He calls a time out in that situation a lot to make sure his defensive alignment is perfect for what the offense brought out... He's playing chess.. he wants to match his personnel to what they're going to do But he was bringing the heat so calling a time out would have just given the offense a look at his pre snap package.. if he was playing coverage probably would have called the time out
  4. We'll see that throughout the season But Josh running inside the five.. probably a 70% success rate That fade is well under that.. there's a time and place for everything But inside the five I'm running Josh.. or giving him run pass options or a quick rub route with an occasional fade
  5. He played 100% of defensive snaps Is clearly their number one corner
  6. He led the team in targets and catches and yards and snaps He's definitely at least the number two already even if he doesn't start the game
  7. Sometimes you need to pony up They don't make 6'6 , 6'7 ends like him
  8. They need to extend him because he's going to have a monster year
  9. I think McDermott is squarely ahead of spags as a defensive guy when you factor in scheme /playcalling and developing When I went to KC a couple years ago.. where we won... Every single Kansas City fan couldn't wait to get rid of spag They literally all thought he was meh and would have traded places with Leslie That just goes to show you every team doesn't like their coordinators a lot of times What they do have is the best offensive guru in the league.. with good aggressive pieces on defense.. and spag does well with all his pieces but I don't think he patchworks a defense as well I think McDermott is a better developer of talent too I would take Jones in a millisecond
  10. I think he's plaxico burress like Without the shooting himself
  11. I never had any doubt that when he has to step in he will play very well He was a stud at UB and fits this defense
  12. And I've defended cam here for years while half this board called him not NFL level and a bum
  13. Just want to re bump this I've always had cams back he's always been a very good football player He's the type of guy every roster needs at the bottom
  14. If your safety's aren't ball hawking... You kind of want them to be invisible like offensive line... That means they're doing their job Generally if the camera is being panned to them and they're chasing someone 50 yards down the field... They messed up lol But not getting a lot of tackles mean the linebackers were in play... And not getting torched means they weren't being tested really Would I like more splash plays from the safeties? Yes But usually if they're invisible it's because they did their job to not be seen
