12/8/24 Game 14 GAMEDAY! Bills vs Rams 1st half game Thread
Chugga replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yikes. Not loving this start -
The Patriots AFC East domination was based on Belicheck being arguably the greatest coach of all time and by sheer luck he got matched with the goat at QB. McDermott by no means is Belicheck but the combo of him and Allen will make it very difficult for the other 3 teams in the division. Maye might be a legit QB but will he have a coach? The Jets might stumble into a fantastic coach but will they be trotting out a 42 year old Rodgers or are they going to have to hit on a QB in the draft? Which they haven’t done since Namath. And at this point until proven otherwise Miami is the retirement home of the NFL. Beautiful weather, beautiful women, no taxes. You don’t go there to grind for a superbowl you go there to win some games and have some fun. Its going to be tricky for the other 3 teams to overcome both McDermott AND Allen.

If the Bills make the Super Bowl there is a very solid chance I don’t even know who they play when I black out due to excitement. Honestly there is no one I want to play. Some people say “give me the Giants or Panthers” but if either of those teams showed up in the SB I would be absolutely TERRIFIED. Because how the hell did they get there? Do they have the Bills number? Is this a revenge game for Daboll? Yeah sorry I’m going to be a mess regardless. That being said the battered child side of me that’s lived through more heartbreak than any NFL fan should have to endure, would prefer it be a tortured fanbase like the Lions or Vikings so at least they can see their team in the big show. Even if we massacre them and add to the torture.

[Unsubstantiated] Rumors of Micah Hyde's imminent return
Chugga replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve seen Cole Bishop play safety. I have every hope in the world that he’s going to be the guy one day once he gets more accustomed to the Bills system and the NFL speed difference. But from what I’ve seen he’s not ready yet. I’d be happy for them to bring Hyde back just as an insurance policy. God forbid something happens to Hamlin would be nice to have Hyde in game shape allowing us to not miss a step. But that’s all I would want him as….just a depth piece. The team right now is cohesive and winning football games I wouldn’t want to mess up that chemistry. -
One thing has never changed. I love McDermott as a human being and as a coach of men. I will never say anything bad about him as a person or as a leader. But, my opinion has changed from earlier this year. After the Ravens and Texans loss I was admittedly pretty fired up about things. I have on a number of occasions (after coaching blunders) felt as if we had potentially hit a glass ceiling with him. That feeling remains in the back of my mind. But I also look at the rosters of the Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens etc and we don’t have that same level of talent but he’s consistently gotten the very best out of everyone. I want so badly for his defense to finally click one of these years in the playoffs and have him get his signature playoff win. It just hasn’t happened yet, most of our playoff wins feel like the Josh Allen show and our losses feel like McDermott let down the Josh Allen show. But seeing him make snow angels and watching this team completely rally behind him after last years hit piece. I just want so badly for him to win.

In all fairness safety play has been seemingly down this season at least at FS. Jevon Holland plays on a team with no fight. Minkah who is usually a shoe in at FS plays on a top defense but he’s been remarkably quiet compared to his normal production. Despite Bills fans opinions Hamlin has been one of the steadier and reliable FS’s in the AFC this year.

Yikes this game ain’t over yet

So you’re telling me you can throw a challenge flag when the clock reads 1:59? I’m calling BS and then they don’t come back from break in time to show any replays. Total BS
-
Ball don’t lie. That was a terrible explanation “it happened outside of two minutes” while I’m staring at the clock reading 1:59
-
I don’t know his back foot clearly lifts up before he ever secures the ball and doesn’t come back down until he’s out of bounds
-
He didn’t get both feet down

WR Diontae Johnson appears to have worn out his welcome in Baltimore?
Chugga replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Steelers WRs are like the new Patriots defensive stars. Bill Belicheck would coach up some average role players to be borderline pro bowlers then watch them walk for millions in FA only to play like trash anywhere outside of New England. Tomlin has something in the Gatorade in Pittsburgh that keeps the crazy simmering just below the surface of his WRs. As soon as they go somewhere else they lose all control of their crazy. -
Call me crazy but I think I want the broncos to win. I’d rather they make the playoffs than one of the sneakier boom or bust teams like the Dolphins. Even though we clearly have their number I still have a bit of Skylar Thompson PTSD. If we get stuck in the 2 seed I’d rather McDermott face a rookie QB in his first playoff game.

Goodell: Looking to have an 18-game regular season.

I HATE this. I don’t want the Super Bowl to be decided by the team that limps in with the most starters still playing. When do they propose that playoff games should be a best of 3? Can you imagine the ratings of game 3 of Bills vs Chiefs with the series tied at 1-1. Football is such a special sport. Every game holds so much weight. It isn’t baseball where you can go on a 20 game losing streak and you’ve still got 140+ games to make up the difference. It’s not like basketball where you can sit your stars with load management because seeding doesn’t really mean anything. Every game, every down, everything matters. What they are discussing between Thursday games, more international travel, and more games spits directly in the face of their player safety initiative. -
McDermott’s Post Game speech deserves its own thread

Humble and hungry. Although admittedly it doesn’t have the same kick as some Levy quotes -
He’s looking a lot like a younger Poyer.

Congratulations Josh Allen - Most touchdowns in team history

I don’t disagree with you at all. I’d argue you could put our #2 RB Ray Davis on the Eagles and he’d be in the thick of the league leaders in rushing. But you’re a Bills fan. How can you not be cynical of MVP voting. The guy averages 40+ TDs a year and they have moved the goal posts on him every single year. Last year being the most egregious when they handed the award to Lamar who had an absolutely pedestrian year. -
Congratulations Josh Allen - Most touchdowns in team history
Chugga replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Totally agree. While I think Buffalo Bills fans in general are going to do their homework and look at the nuanced differences because they’ve seen their QB get screwed out of the award a number of times for dumb reasons. But the MVP voters sadly are far less nuanced. Josh Allen set the league on fire the second half of last season but had fewer wins than Lamar and THATS IT. He had zero chance at MVP for that lone reason. If someone breaks a 40+ year old record that some of the greatest players in NFL history couldn’t do the voters are going to notice and vote accordingly. Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Ladainian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, etc. That’s just a small list of people that couldn’t break that record. When it’s broken it will be a big deal. Regardless of the circumstances. -
Congratulations Josh Allen - Most touchdowns in team history
Chugga replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree he isn’t an MVP candidate exactly right now because he’s an RB. But if you break a record that has stood for 40+ years that changes things. I just think it’s important people put things into perspective and account for the fact that if he does break the record, Saquon had an extra game to do it. -

I’ll be the first to admit I thought the AFC East was going to be an absolute dog fight this year. I thought we’d make the playoffs but maybe not win the division in a rebuilding year. Glad to see I’m an idiot -
Congratulations Josh Allen - Most touchdowns in team history
Chugga replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
To me it’s not about the rushing record it’s about the yards per game number ontop of the record. At everyone’s current pace I think Josh is MVP. If Saquon breaks the rushing record but averages LESS than 131.6 yards a game then in my opinion he shouldn’t even be considered. Dickerson put up his numbers in 16 games and averaged 131.6 yards a game. Saquon averages a little over 124 a game. He might break the record but it won’t be as impressive. Now if he averages 132 yards a game I think he has an argument for MVP -

I’m sure LT has done it. Back during his prime he was putting up stupid numbers on the Chargers and they’d let him throw on occasion
