I don't see the XFL as a minor league or shying away from off-field drama.

I have to say, while I tend to lean more towards trading up for a rookie QB than signing Cousins, the idea of having QB "settled" with #21, #22, #53, #56, #95, #117, #149, and #157 does sound appealing. That very well could mean starters at WR/OT/DT/DE/LB and heavy contributors at HB/CB.

What if you were convinced they are franchise QB material?

I feel like when his "positives" largely include excuses about Wyoming and accuracy and focus on prototypical size, yeah... no thanks.

Let's hire one of those guys that do the red light, yellow light, green light away from the Eagles. I think next year he can handle all three lights.

Not Rosen, not Darnold, nor Mayfield?

Although I support a trade up, what would people think of taking a QB at #21 and #22? If you look at the draft as a lottery, then why not buy more QB tickets and hedge your bets? My guess is it would be Jackson and Rudolph. Let them duke it out in camp?

At the end of the day, OBD has to trust their eyes. You can't predict the future, but if your board says a guy is the guy, then that very real cost is worth taking the chance. Can't let Wentz get you too high or RG3 get you too low. Each prospect is their own guy and OBD should pull the trigger if a prospect looks like the guy.

Interesting tidbit on WGR this morning, basically saying that Mayfield is calculated in drawing the attention to himself, especially from the opponent, because he doesn't mind it and it allows his teammates to focus and not have so much pressure on them.

Hefty, but worth it if OBD truly thinks the guy they are getting is franchise QB material.

Yeah, I don't know, I see Mayfield as on the same level or only a very slim hair below Rosen and Darnold. But I agree on the general thought that the picks required to be given up are likely worth it.

I'd give up a lot of picks for #3 regardless right now and be happy with Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield.

I like the idea of trading up and packaging Glenn to the Colts, who have a pretty bad OL. I do not think what the OP offered would work. I do think #21, #22, #53, #149, and Glenn would do the trick though.

I would have thought Dorsey was more of a possibility had Chudzinski been brought on as OC because they coached together. He strikes me as the kind of guy who had the head to play in the NFL, but not the athleticism, which is why coaching might be more his thing. Might be better to have a younger guy for our rookie QB. Either way, as has been pointed out, has to automatically be a step up from Culley.

Glad they're meeting with so many QBs. Would not mind taking 2 in the draft. Also like that they are focusing on defensive front 7.

Although it comes before it, I'm much more excited for the Senior Bowl than the Super Bowl. Of course I'll watch the Super Bowl, but given how likely it is that the Patriots* will win after coming back in the 2nd half, I do prefer the commercials to the actual game at this point.

I voted for the commercials for this year. Said it before: I've seen this movie and know how it ends. But I'd go to the theater to see the movie again if I knew there were going to be some cool trailers before it.

Apologies, I had scrolled down and cut off Johnson and Wagner. Still, you'd need Glenn to play as the best RT in the league by a margin of $2.75 million to be worth it. I'm not saying I'm confident that Glenn won't heal. I'm saying that both the return of a mid-round or FA OT (both cheaper by far) and Glenn's injury are tough to predict. Still, if Glenn ends up continuing to miss games, then paying him $14 million is going to bad for this team.

We just disagree then. I see cap space as very important for a team with questions at pretty much every position, especially if we end up having to package a lot of our extra picks to move up for a QB, which I think could happen and would keep us from filling more roster holes. I'd rather have an average RT for average RT starting money ($5-7 million), probably get a pick for Glenn, and save that extra $7-9 million for another starter or few depth players. Alternatively, a starting RT may be found in round 3 or 4. You are as certain that the OT we could bring in would be "below-market return" as I am that Glenn's injuries will continue to prevent him from playing - we both don't know. Glenn would be below market return if he was not clearly the best RT in the NFL and healthy all year because no starting RT is making more than an average of $8 million per year.

I guess I just think between FA and draft, we could find a RT for cheaper than $14 million. So Glenn will fully recover from the injury, be happy with being moved to RT, and successfully make that transition? Or he could do all that? I think Mayfield will end up being well worth whatever it takes to move up for him. The only real question for me is his height, which I think will be answered by just looking at his game tape. He makes it work. Consider Russell Wilson's draft profile. I would hate not to go for Mayfield, whose name I think could easily replace Wilson's below: But teams will have concerns whether Wilson can see over the pocket to make the throws at the next level. He is a mechanical mover who has strong technique and leadership qualities. If Wilson were three inches taller, there would be debate at the top of the draft as to where he fits. That, for a guy who was a complete gamer, but measured in at 5'11".
