  1. How can anybody blame management for a player deciding to retire. Was Boldin pissed because he wasn't consulted about roster moves? The Bills are no worse today than they were yesterday. Boldin has nothing left in the tank. And just for the record moving out a WR who won't be around after this year and a DB who doesn't fit your scheme for serviceable players and high draft picks is both very unBillslike and smart.
  2. Not sure why this should rile up anybody (except those trying to promote the notion of some sinister management plot to tank the season). We've got a crowded WR room and Boldin (who showed Thursday night he just doesn't have anything left in the tank) was taking up a roster spot that should go to one of the young guys.
  3. Maybe the catalyst for hitting on all cylinders is having Peterman at QB.
  4. Don't know what else you'd call it. Coaches never have a controversy. They do what they do based on fact. The only ones with their panties in a wad are the fans. Controversy is the God given right of the fan base.
  5. After a decade and more of futility we finally have a real quarterback controversy, and that's a good thing. With all the "we suck, can't watch this mess" and 0-16 here we come doom and gloom, yadda, yadda, yadda as the subject of countless threads, the Taylor vs Peterman discussions all center around who gives us the best chance to win. I firmly believe Peterman gives us that but read and respond to Taylor advocates as well (because the discussions are about positives), tin foil hat tank conspiracy theorists not withstanding. On game day McD will start the guy his evaluation (based on input from professionals) tells him gives us the best chance to win. In the mean time we will gripe and moan, make up phantom theories, question each other's ancestry, get banned and generally agendify all our prognostications in an attempt to win over the unwashed masses of ignorant humanity who cling so pitifully to unrealistic vacant and vapid excuses for 'THEIR GUY". GOTTA LOVE THE PRESEASON!!! AMEN
  6. OK so, if he continues to progress, when is the timing right? Game one, the bye, next year, wait on taylor to get injured; this ain't going to be pretty no matter when it happens.
  7. This is the crux of the QB controversy. I care about what I see on the field and what the scoreboard says when the clock goes to 0:00. What the bean counters produce after the smoke clears has relevancy only when justifying an agenda.
  8. Not getting McCarron. Had that chance and blew it. Watched him at 'Bama and knew he would be good. taylor has a better chance of getting his clock cleaned behind this O line or on a one read and run scramble than ever becoming elite.
  9. What about cortes? Wish I was smarter so I understood metaphor (or is it a simile). Where does Pegs fit in? Did I see something about McBeath (or was it Yorick). You old timers is just too smart for me.
  10. Read your stuff for years Shaw and it's always spot on, but ya kinda asked for that one.
  11. He will be the starter till he plays himself off the field.
  12. Every time I see that throw a little voice says "taylor never makes that throw".
  13. 10-6 I see three things happening at the bye. 1. The new WCO gels 2. The D plays back to form in the 4-3 3. Taylor plays himself out of a job and is benched. Win two field goal duels before the bye against the jests and bungles and then rise up after the bye with the only losses being pats and chargers
  14. The real question is do you trust McBeane to know if and when the kid "ready"?
  15. AND . . here we go again. Why don't we start a thread about the long snapper and have everybody with a thin skin or an axe to grind go there. Suspend the rules, let 'em cuss and swear and question each other's ancestry to their heart's content.
  16. I think it's what we need to look for next. Maybe ask O'Leary and zay how they feel about it.
  17. You would think if he's going to be the backup that would make sense. Probably also not a bad tactic for lighting a fire under taylor.
  18. Through two preseason outings, with admitted mixed results, one thing about Peterman has given me hope for the kid and I went back and watched the entire Pitt Clemson game to make sure. Nothing seems to rattle him. Throughout the Clemson game and what we've seen so far this year it's the one constant. He plays whistle to whistle, then moves on, no panic, and executes the plan he's given. I guess the expression steady under fire covers it. Got to believe his ceiling is high.
  19. Ah, the voice of reason in the middle of an unseemly scrum. I would only add if Peterman is to be the backup he should get snaps with the first team O and against the first team D in case we need him.
  20. Can't we all just get along. Now all of you go to your rooms and think about what you have done. When you're ready to play nice you may come out and apologize.
  21. Tis is the first real benefit of having Peterman succeed, and not just WR. How about the best LT in the draft, a D line stud and a 2nd round QB. now you know what to wish for. Peterman success means way more than just a franchise QB.
  22. Would like to see him in by the bye week. Would be perfect not to waste high draft capitol if we don't have to next year. Get another QB, maybe in the 2nd round, but let's load up on areas of need. build the winner. Way to follow your own advise.
  23. The completion percentage needs work, but in the meantime look where those completions moved the ball to. He fins a way to move the chains and I think his receivers are beginning to trust him.
  24. Not so crazy, lots of posters see it too. But the kid needs sometime to develop maybe by the break.
  25. And there ya go, throwing logic at a perfectly good irrational piss fight. How will this thread ever reach 100 posts with reason and rationality mixed in?
