  1. Any definition of a franchise quarterback contains the stipulation of long term success. A one read and run type guy like taylor will be lucky to ever play out a full 16 game season without injury. He isn't Young, or Montana, or Flacco or even A Smith. No GM is going to predicate their long term employment on a one trick pony. Like the kid but he's just a bridge. Great backup, poor starter. Would he flip flop with a rookie, doubt it. Need to trade him when we can. The opportunity will present itself. The on;y thing worse than a tank is going 6-10.
  2. If Peterman continues to show up well and a quarterback needy team inquires abut taylor, they'll have to listen. No matter what, taylor is gone next year.
  3. First, at 2-5 the season isn't lost (yet) so unless the reason for the losses is Taylor the answer is no. Firmly convinced we have something in Peterman, just not yet. Mop up duty and garbage time are fine. Let the kid learn the right way. Don't really care if we get anything for Taylor or just let him hit free agency.
  4. Yeah, you're right. Just glad to have interesting stuff to keep us going till September.
  5. If the Taylor led offense is stuck in neutral again and the two's with Peterman move the ball and put up points, then what do they do? Game three is usually the dress rehersal for opening day. How long is Taylor's leash? What will the fan base put up with?
  6. It's obvious they'll take a QB next year, but what if Taylor or Peterman light it up and the pressure to pick one high goes away. Trying to crystal ball the draft is an exercise in futility. Stockpiled picks are never bad and neither Watkins nor Darby were going to carry this team to the playoffs.
  7. would love to see what this kid could do with a full week of practice with the 1s (even tho it won't happen). really looking forward to Thursday.
  8. should probably have said the game slows down for him and he gains confidence in himself and his team mates
  9. Here's the scary scenario, Taylor goes down against the jests, Peterman has jumped over yates, has rookie troubles and we lose the next six but shows promise each week. Then the light comes on and we end up 6-10 with one of the wns against the patsies with marsha at the helm in a shootout. Are we still looking for a QB?
  10. Unless marsha decides to take this year as his last run at the championship then pulls the pin and retires.
  11. If, and that's a big if, he gets a chance. Let's see what they do with the kid next thursday
  12. Not if you get Kelly to talk to him and fill him in on how this fan base treats a true franchise QB
  13. You're right, of course. but just for a minute consider that we don't know how the season plays out for KC or LA or Philly. what will those picks be next spring. and I suppose it's just as wrong to not be willing to see my guys lose (even one game). If it came down to a meaningless win vs the patsies or 1st pick in the draft with a loss don't know what I'd wish for. guess the answer is I'll take the losses as long as there's hope for the future
  14. it absolutely does but the longer this discussion goes on, the more rational the comments have become, even from the most initially shocked and outraged of posters.
  15. understood but the angry villagers with the pitchforks and torches may not see it that way
  16. wondered how long before someone had the guts to say this. better get yourself down in rectal defilade before the incoming starts.
  17. Kinda has the same feel of something Marv and Polian would have done
