I think Beane was true to his word in taking the BPA in the first three rounds. If the o-line can mesh early, Allen is set up to have a breakout year.

He looks like he will play on the right side in 2019, but we got our stud tackle.

A stud left tackle that can anchor the line for the next decade.

The best that I can tell, 91,93,96,97, 98, and 99 were taken last year. So based on that 92 looks good to me. Not sure if that has historical significances.

I am a bit concerned about Metcalf. He does not run routes well, he drops a lot of passes. He seems to be a one trick pony. It would be nice to have a deep threat, but we have more pressing needs along the oline.

I know this has been said over and over, but BPA! I am hoping we go with either O-line or D-line dominating stud. The only exception is if Josh Allen falls to 9.

BPA is how perennial winners usually build their team. Too often teams stretch to fill a need and wind up picking a lessor talent too early in the draft. If there are three players that are close in their ranking, then the player that fills a need would be a wise selection. BPA is an approach that has a history of success. But that does not mean the management that uses BPA puts blinders on and makes their selection based strictly on their draft board without any other strategy.

I only know what we all have read. But through many decades of watching the NFL, it takes a newly assembled line time to mesh. Don't be surprised if we our oline has a few underwhelming games to start the season. We should see improvement as the season progressives.

I enjoy reading the responses to this thread. I realize the Bill's Mafia (I am a life long member) have suffered unspeakable emotional abuse as a fan, but why be so apprehensive when it comes to showing some love for Beane? The Beane regime just has a different feel than the previous Bills has since 2000. He actually seems to have an effective strategy to build a consistent winner in Buffalo. Besides a heart crushing beat down, what do we have to lose to go all in on Beane? Be bold. Throw caution aside. Embrace the Beane. He is the man and he will lead us to glory. Since the d-line was not addressed in free agency, I agree with you that Ed Oliver makes a lot of sense. I really like the Best Player Available strategy. With all things equal, wr, rb, ilb, and ol can be addressed in subsequent rounds.

I agree. I also find it interesting that Emmitt Smith isn't getting a lot of mention. He benefited from playing behind a superb oline for his entire career.

I am from your era. I am surprised gale Sayers had not been mentioned. He had a short career, but he and berry Sanders had very similar styles. I am not saying he was the best. But he could be in the top 7.
