Bills Training Camp Day 7 - 8/1
DaBillsFanSince1973 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
maybe they don't want to show out, in practice. same applies in preseason games. vanilla schemes, don't give away anything. either way, it gives (not you) the dark cloud gang something to talk about, when they don't do well, in practice. -
Here they are, the I am worried I am concerned threads. If this were last season I might have a concern. this season no concerns at all, they did the right moves this off season. they rebuilt the o line. get a grip o p, get a grip

2019 Buffalo Bills scouting report: linebacker Corey Thompson Positional outlook: Thompson is squarely in the second tier of linebackers on Buffalo’s roster, as he sits behind the starting group (Milano, Lorenzo Alexander, and Tremaine Edmunds) but in front of the rookie group (Vosean Joseph and Tyrel Dodson). Maurice Alexander, Julian Stanford, and Deon Lacey are the veterans who fill out the line backing corp. 2019 Offseason: Thompson has participated in all off season activities to date. When Lorenzo Alexander received a veteran rest day on July 28, it was Thompson who filled in for him with the starting group, so the coaching staff must like what he brings to the table in terms of his versatility and his ability. 2019 Season outlook: Thompson clearly has a solid case to make the final roster, as he was able to start at Milano’s weak side position last year and is seemingly being groomed to fill Alexander’s strong side position for the future. Head coach Sean McDermott specifically mentioned Maurice Alexander’s versatility as a benefit during his press conference July 28, and the emphasis on special teams suggests that guys like Lacey and Stanford are safe, but the team has some intriguing talent here at linebacker. Whether they go with six or seven at the position could go a long way towards determining who makes the final cut. Given his usage, Thompson is someone who certainly should not be counted out for that spot. -

Injuries take center stage To this point, Buffalo had been relatively lucky with injuries. Only Tyler Kroft was considered a long-term problem that could lead into the season and his fellow tight ends Jason Croom and Dawson Knox were dealing with short-term hamstring problems. Then during his press conference before practice, Sean McDermott announced high priority free agent Mitch Morse was diagnosed with a concussion. When we got out to practice, lineman Spencer Long was riding a stationary bike and kicker Stephen Hauschka had a wrap on his ankle. Depth DT Robert Thomas was also out with an injury. To compound matters, several players had to step out for a play or two to see a trainer. Pro Bowlsafety Micah Hyde did not return to practice after speaking with a trainer. That’s four (or more) starters who didn’t finish practice today purely due to injury. Buffalo was also missing Jerry Hughes (rest) and LeSean McCoy (personal reasons) from practice. Quick hits It was the longest practice of camp so far, clocking in at more than two hours. Nick Easley was en fuego today, and drew the most responses from media members after breaking ankles (figuratively) in the passing game. He’s likely making a push as a practice squad candidate, or he’d have to jump Ray-Ray McCloud and Isaiah McKenzie as the backup slot guy. McDermott had to call together the team at one point to lay into them for sloppy play. Tyree Jackson ended practice with a bomb, his first good play of camp. Kevin Johnson was first-team reps today ahead of Levi Wallace. Some presumably nice young lady asked Josh Allen to the prom -

Bills Training Camp Day 5 - 7/30

Bills training camp 2019: Tuesday practice closed to public, here’s what happened (Day 5 observations) 2. Josh Allen turns in another strong day The first pass Allen threw during team drills came on a roll out to his right and it wasn’t really close to the targeted receiver. The rain had already begun to fall and it probably slipped out of his hands. From that point on Allen looked dialed in. He was spreading the ball around and finding spaces in the defense to attack. He found Zay Jones on a nice 10-yard ball to the right that fit in perfectly in a big gap in the defensive zone. Later he almost found John Brown on a 20-yard sideline ball that Brown couldn’t bring in (despite the accuracy of the pass) and then delivered a beautiful deep ball that went off the hands of receiver Robert Foster. 3. LeSean McCoy starting to round into form Running back LeSean McCoy hasn’t made a ton of noise so far in camp but Tuesday he looked like he was feeling good. He had a couple nice runs and after one even said, “I got my legs today,” as he ran back to the sideline. Veteran back Frank Gore and rookie Devin Singletary have both had strong camps and figure to be a big part of the Bills offense this season. But McCoy seems to still have juice left in the tank and looked healthy and quick on Tuesday. -

[Name Only Title] LeSean McCoy???

Bills get physical in the rain Running back LeSean McCoy had a nice day. He busted off a couple big runs in 11-on-11 drills. McCoy has always been known as a player who performs well in poor conditions due to his balance and vision. -

cue the "I don't want these young players around those old '90's players" crowd. I actually find this pretty cool and good to see 56 out there sharing some experience with the young fella. -

Versatile and physical: T.J. Yeldon aims to make his presence known in Buffalo’s running back competition He may have been a back-to-back 1,100-yard rusher in the SEC and a national champion. But on Buffalo’s roster right now, T.J. Yeldon is fourth in the running back rotation at training camp. Despite a much different pecking order with the Bills, Yeldon is unfazed and determined to carve out a role. “Always competition,” Yeldon said. “It’s always making us better.” Yeldon led the Jaguars in yards from scrimmage last season [901] had a career-high four receiving touchdowns and became the first back since Maurice-Jones Drew in 2011 to have more than three in a season. Yeldon is still the same running back that Foster saw at Alabama. He prides himself on physicality. Pads went on for the first time this past Saturday at camp, which should allow him to show off that trait. “That’s why the pads come on, to be physical,” Yeldon said. -
