Musical Reunions You Would Like to See
SinceThe70s replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Porcupine Tree -
Wake up, got another day to get through now Got another man to see Got to call him on the telephone Got to find a piece of paper Sit down, got another letter to write Think I'll got to get the letter just right There's a ringing on the telephone Oh no, got to write a little later No such day as tomorrow, only one two three go! Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head

I was sittin' in a breakfast room in Allentown, Pennsylvania, six o'clock in the morning, got up to early, it was a terrible mistake... sittin' there face-to-face with a 75 cent glass of orange juice about as big as my finger and a bowl of horribly foreshortened cornflakes, and I said to myself: "This is the life!"...

What's surprising to me is that some of the players seem to have Mickey's back. I've seen Noah stick up for him twice this year, DeGrom was pretty much a good soldier after the D'backs incident and now Vargas goes after the reporter.

The Rise of the Snowplow Sports Parents

I agree 100% with the bolded. My personal opinion is that higher education has crossed the line from academics into big business. Holds true for schools without sports program but worse for those with strong ones. -

For the record I don't make gobs of money but I don't think that's where you were going. I do live without stifling debt and yet I do see parents of presumably equal means pushing the athletics agenda in lieu of academics. That's a different scenario than using athletics as a means to get a quality education. -
I heard about this by text from a good friend and now from you. My friend's take was negative too. I don't know the details but my initial reaction is that it's about time Mickey showed some emotion. I have no problem with this team acting like they care. Hope to see more of it. Maybe 82 year old Phil Regan told these guys to sack up!!! I may end up with egg on my face once I hear the details, but I'm pissed that this team isn't playing better and I'm fine if they are too.

Sports is entertainment. Entertainers get paid insane amounts of money. What's your thoughts on curbing the cost of entertainment? Personally I wish that sporting events, concerts. movies, Broadway shows, etc... were cheaper but that doesn't factor into pushing my kids in any of those directions. -
Never heard of this guy or the album until yesterday, but there was a lot to like including this:
-
Gonzo Alonso. The guy is a monster. Glad you got to see a small piece of Mets history in a hugely historic park. FWIW and appropo of nothing my father grew up a White Sox fan so give your boy a shout out from a Mets fan he'll never meet.

The only way we're ending with the Trammps "Disco Inferno" is over my dead body. And I am still alive and well thank you very much. Now the smiling portrait of you Is still hangin' on my frowning wall But It really doesn't, really doesn't bother me Too much at all It's just the ever falling dust That makes it so hard for me to see That forgotten earring layin' on the floor Facing coldly towards the door And I continue To burn the midnight lamp

First game at Wrigley, Cubs-Mets, and the Mets won. You my friend hit the Triple Crown! Outstanding! BTW - I think you saw Alonso tie the Met record for HR's by a rookie. So you have that going for you too. Which is nice.
-
I think he manages a local independent league team.
-
Kevin Baez
-
Eric Campbell.
-
Who did he play for besides the Mets?
-
Sid Fernandez? I have no clue.
-
Great post. He's probably forgotten more about baseball than you and I will ever know.

Women think I'm tasty, but they're always tryin' to waste me Make me burn the candle right down But, baby, baby, don't need no jewels in my crown 'Cause all you women is low down gamblers Cheatin' like I don't know how Baby, got no flavor, fever in the funk house now This low down bitchin' got my poor feet a itchin' Don't you know you know the duece is still wild Baby, I can't stay, you got to roll me And call me the tumblin' dice

Albums you've listened to the most
SinceThe70s replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Billy is an end to end must listen. Haven't indulged in a while. Cool thing about this thread is I revisited the Wall...and now Billy (who had two caves for eyes and a cliff for a mouth that would go up and down...) is next. -

Album sides. What's that? If it's album sides, I'd still stick with Zappa/Apostrophe side 1 as a fave but Zeppelin/Zoso side 1 is the GOAT. -
On August 6, 1960 in the top of the 8th with no outs and a runner on first Phil Regan walked Ted Williams. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/DET/DET196008060.shtml At the time, Regan was a rookie and it was Williams last year in the league.

Sports radio is having some fun at Regan's expense today. The line that got me was "He pitched to Ted Williams!"
