  2. Strange brew Kill what's inside of you
  3. Seven turns on the highway, Seven rivers to cross. Sometimes, you feel like you could fly away, Sometimes, you get lost.
  4. Heartbreaker, love-taker, Shoemaker, won't you fix my shoe for free or the more traditional: You're a heartbreaker Dream maker, a love taker Don't you mess around with me
  5. You can't change itCan't rearrange itIf time is all that we gotThen baby let's take it
  6. Never gonna give you upNever gonna let you downNever gonna run around and desert you P.S. - above is the worst post in 260 pages. I feel shame.
  7. I don't remember, I don't recallI got no memory of anything at all
  8. And Gibson over Seaver?
  9. Hasn't been much on-the-field baseball talk around here for awhile. Not sure if anyone else cares, but here goes. Gimenez has made a case to take over at SS. From what I knew he was a top prospect that was supposedly still a year a way. Hasn't looked that way through 40+. Small sample but he looks like he belongs. I still like Rosario, but less so at SS.
  10. I'm good with either personality since they are elite and skill level is comparable. But I'll take the bubbly personality that has a better shot at improving the team dynamic.
  11. LOL, as a Yankee fan you've been more than paid back for 64-76 (and what I remember as the Horace Clarke years). I never saw Koufax, but by most accounts he was better than Seaver and Gibson. As for Koosman, sadly he was due to be honored by the Mets this season until Covid effed everything up.
  12. Many hard core fans on this site lose all hope and put the Bills on blast Monday mornings after a loss. I care more about that segment of the populations thoughts on the Bills more than I do Peter Kings even though they both seem irrational to me. Mostly because there might be a nugget of truth buried in the over reaction to a loss from the hard core fans while PK spends almost no time or effort on the team. I get that he's a national reporter but his pick of the Dolphins over the Bills smacks of his love of Belichik disciples as @Coach Tuesday pointed out earlier.
  13. Seaver and Gibson are two absolute legends. I was too young to see them in the 60's but they were best of the best in the NL in the early to mid 70's
  14. Sadly, another baseball legend passed away today. Lou Brock was the gold standard for base stealers when I was growing up. In an odd coincidence, Brock had more at bats against Seaver than any other pitcher he faced: 157 at bats. And Brock was the player that Seaver faced the most as well.
  15. One correction - the commissioning of the statue was announced at the same time they renamed the address to Seaver Way. But agreed on the Dodgers stuff, that never made sense to me.
  16. Hall of Famer Deacon Jones.
  17. Yeah, hats off to whoever came up with the idea to honor #41 that way. Hopefully they'll have his statue ready for opening day next year (https://nypost.com/2020/09/03/mets-plan-to-unveil-tom-seaver-statue-for-2021-season/) And totally agreed on his dementia. I was probably more saddened by the announcement that he was stepping away from his public life due to dementia than I was by news of his passing.
  18. West bound ride through Texas The sun here really burns Open up and try and beat the heat It still don't do much good Kick back and endure it, a 100 miles ta go Take a break, get some shade Before we start up again 117 degrees, 117 117, so I'm told I don't know
  19. Mets players pay tribute to Seaver today with dirty right knees. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29804025/mets-honor-tom-seaver-iconic-drop-drive-delivery-dirty-knees
  20. Right now on the front page of newsday.com the two headlines are almost side by side: SUNY Oneonta cancels in-person classes this fall Superintendents say their schools are safe to reopen I'll remain hopeful that local schools will have more success managing K-12 than colleges have, but I'll be surprised if K-12 aren't all back home by October.
  21. Congrats. Not sure how it went behind the scenes, but from the outside it was seamless.
  22. Just saw a headline that Tom Seaver passed away. Far and away the greatest Met of all time. I was fortunate enough to see him pitch live a few times in his prime and countless times on TV. RIP.
  23. I need a lover that won't drive me crazySome girl that knows the meaning of, ah-Hey hit the highway!
  24. I'm with either of those - and in particular I try my best to abide by the first - but some would perceive that dudes is inclusive. Horrors.
  25. As a Mets fan I'm equal parts cynical and optimistic: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29762854/alex-rodriguez-group-withdraws-mets-offer-amid-report-steve-cohen-finalizing-deal
