  1. As bad as Cassel has played in different years I can reconcile Whaley signing him by giving the two young inexperienced QB's a veteran presence on the roster. In the right situation Cassel has shown to be an effective QB to a degree, (under ex Patriots OC's) so I can understand signing him in the off season. Then once the pre season began and we all saw what we could expect to see from him in Buffalo it was the right thing to do to dump him. JMO
  2. and they outright cut him for less...
  3. I disagree, as most Bills fans realize that the Bills offensive line is kinda crappy right now, and so is the run game with Boobie, and another lamb off the PS. The Bills offense is basically in shambles with injuries, Shady, Sammy, Karlos, and i have to wonder if Percy isn't hurting the way he hasn't gotten separation recently. OTOH the Cowboys have the leagues best offensive line and would be able to protect Cassel better then Buffalo would. But then again we will be laughing when we see Cassel throwing safe five yard outs all game.
  4. Please don't equate Cassel to Tom Brady or either Manning, as Matt can't* hold any of their JS's! Cassel sucks, and all he would do in Buffalo as the starter is dump the ball off three times for nine yards per series. Lets look at Matt Cassel in 2009 on the Chiefs when he went 4-11 while throwing 16 TD's & 16 INT's. In 2011 he went 4-5 with 10 TD's & 9 INT's. His worst season was in 2012 where he went 1-7, and threw 6 TD's & 12 INT's. He was later a healthy bench for Brady Quinn If you watched him play in the pre season games he was given every chance to become the starter, and instead the Bills cut him outright. Then they brought him back for league min.
  5. Not voting because the choices are kinda lame. Statuesque Cassel wouldn't survive long behind the current state of the Bills offensive line along with the decrepit state of the Bills RB situation. The Bills did the right thing in trading away a square block from a round hole. A blind man could have seen he wasn't a fit in a Bills uni. Then the Bills FO must be supremely confidant in EJ's ability to dump Cassel. Although EJ is being put in a very, very difficult situation against the undefeated Bengals considering the current state of the offense. I hope he tears them up with Clay, Sammy, Percy, and Robert! On a side note i'm very glad that the ex Patriot QB is long gone from Buffalo, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that good old Matt also gave some info about his new team to his old team the cheaters.
  6. I honestly don't think EJ can live up to the expectations that Taylor has brought to the offense with his legs. The Bills are completely devoid of a decent run game with no Freddy, no McCoy, No Karlos, and the new guy just brought up is now on IR. All he has now is slomo Boobie. The Bills should seriously look at Ray Rice, and some new talent for the O line. RG-RT. Looks like Harvin is playing hurt because he can't seem to get any separation at all. But then again if the kid didn't do that bad in Mr Can't Hackett's offense for two games... then perhaps he can survive for a game or two.
  7. When St Doug was the Jets O line coach his players did very well, and RB Curtis Martin loved what the line was able to do for him. A man has got to know his limitations!
  8. Yea, once TT is back he would be gone, as will Josh whoever He probably relishes the chance to be a backup of a star QB on a winning team, and learn the right way to do things
  9. Maybe, and he is a raciest because he owns horses and races them.
  10. Jeez, what a tough game for EJ with no McCoy, and possibly no Sammy or Karlos too
  11. Lets just hope that O line coach Aaron Kromer has a positive impact when he returns from his team suspension. The right side of the line has been in real trouble all year, and all five players had had their difficulties at some point or another. The bright spot has been how well LG Richie Incognito has played, and his play helps elevate both LT Glenn, and C Wood to some degree. JMO Not to derail the O line thread, but yea there are problems concerning the D line. Although not nearly as important as the O line ATM. Lack of as much D line rotation as the team had last year. Far to much zone blitzing, and asking players to drop into pass coverage instead of straight up rushing the passer. Then the penalties. The defensive line is completely fixable! While the offensive line probably not until next off season / draft.
  12. Just read that the kid had concussion problems in college, and this recent concussion is more serious then they first thought. What happens is after suffering a concussion you become more susceptible to getting them, and the more you get the more chance of a long term problem. Lets hope for the best for Karlos going forward.
  13. There is just so much that can improve on this team, and stating they are "the same old Bills" just doesn't fit just yet. The Bills need to get their stars back from injuries, and their O line coach back from suspension. Then the offense might just be able to be a force running the ball which will take the heat off the Bills QB in the first half. That young QB with just five NFL starts can continue to get better every game provided he is properly protected. Rex Ryan can stop trying to run a bunch of different schemes, and just do what he does best and run his overload blitz while allowing his front four to go crazy going after the QB. Mike Pettine ran Rex Ryan's defense in 2013, and he had great success getting to the QB. So should Ryan. This upcoming game against the Bengals will show if this Bills team is ready to take on a top team that could be the first in the playoffs. The Bengals have no holes that I can see, and are undefeated this year.
  14. We don't know that yet. He is looking more like Russell Wilson then he is Colin Kaepernick / RG3 right now. The kid found a way to win this week!! Any rookie QB drafted in the first round would need to also go through growing pains, and that first rounder might be better spent on a OT. Can't we just part with the thought that after your eternal desire for Talleywhacker, and Ryan Mallett that you don't know as much about the QB position then you think you do!
  15. Buffalo Barbarian. Its not the QB's fault the team isn't playing up to its ability just yet. A bunch of injuries to its star players, and in the first year of the Rex Ryan experiment. I don't think anyone is elated about the season so far, and most are just happy the team is 3-2, and still in position to do something this year. This is a new coaching staff, and many things will still need to be worked out before having a panic attack. I'm fairly certain that the GM, and coaching staff are focusing a keen eye on the offensive line and will resolve to obtain what they need to make that power run game work. The starting QB just played in his fifth NFL game and is still a work in progress, as are the the players to the schemes. All three phases of this years team can get better, and I think they will. Just be happy the team is only one game out of first place! The Bills could be the 1-4 Ravens, the 1-3 Dolphins, the 1-4 Texans, the 1-4 Jags, the 1-4 Chiefs, the 0-5 Lions, the 1-4 Saints, the 1-4 49ers. Don't worry, be happy for at least another six days
  16. Why even say this, its meaningless. Beckham is far from a bust in any sense of the word. Despite missing four games last year the kid still had 91 rec for 1305 yards, 12 TD's. phenomenal !! While I have yet to call Sammy a bust. Just take a look at his stats this year vs Beckham's. Sammy in three games 13 rec for 99 yards, 1 TD. Beckham had more then that in this last game by the third quarter. Beckham four games 24 rec for 307 yards 2 TD's all while having the opposing defense roll coverage's his way to try and take him out of the game, and not be just a decoy. Am I satisfied with Sammy Watkins performance since being drafted, HECK NO, because I expect greatness from a player the team spent two firsts, and a 4th rounder on. Being a decoy will never make him great or get him into the hall.
  17. Its so easy to make excuses about lack of talent at the RB position or the defense they faced. The bigger issue is about the talent on the offensive line that is and has been lacking for years. Wanna look at LeSean McCoy stats even when healthy? The 6 million dollar RB has 43 rushes for 143 yards 0 TD's in three games played equals 47.6 yards per game, and that equals 3.25 ypc avg. While Karlos Williams has looked brilliant in relief of McCoy in games, and even had a good game against Miami. Lets look at what he did against the NY Giants as the starter, an abysmal 18 rushes for 40 yards for a 2.2 ypc avg 0 TD. Lots of teams stack the box to stop the run and yet teams still find a way to run on them. Also, its important to watch the game, and visually see for yourself if there are holes for the RB to hit or not. Most of the time this year its been or not.
  18. At what point? OTOH, oh I dunno, lets go with once Tyrod Taylor has more then five games of NFL experience, and actually has a decent pocket to stand in and deliver every pass in the playbook. Aside from the injuries it can't be easy to be great in a power run offense that isn't working
  19. So, basically what you are saying is that the Bills don't really have a viable #1 WR that can help pull all the coverage their way if Sammy isn't on the field. Not the #2 pick at WR In Robert Woods nor the 6 million dollar WR in Percy Harvin. Lets not even discuss how often Watkins has been battling injuries over the last two seasons. While he was almost never 100% last season, and now has missed games this year. The real issue in my view is Sammy the type of WR who can take over a game and put up huge numbers like a superstar WR should? The answer is, so far, not really. Or is his real use as a decoy to draw double coverage while not really earning that double coverage? Three draft picks used for this one player, and its not out of the world of reality to question his actual worth at this time. Sammy Watkins will always be compared to Odell Beckham Jr, and look at tonight while being double covered with a lot of the coverage's attempting to take Beckham out of the game, and yet so far tonight 7 rec for 121 yards, 1 TD. Just saying.
  20. The rushing stats look good because the QB was the leading rusher with 8 for 76, one TD Without the QB rushing 127 - 76= 51 yards on 20 rushes, and that equals 2.55 ypc avg instead of the 4.5 avg per rush. Then take away that Taylor running TD, and its a loss. The OP is right, "and our run blocking is non existent" The O line was the biggest area of need this last off season, and they didn't do enough to build a good enough unit for the power run blocking scheme this OC wants to run. The Bills are exceedingly lucky to have Tyrod Taylor!
  21. Lets hope the Bills learn something from this game
  22. It is a huge deal IMO. The Bills gave the Giants 7 first downs last game, and gave back two TD's. Lets hope they can keep this up!!
  23. In reference to #1 7-for 62 was a far cry from the 7 first downs the defense gave the Giants last game The push ups worked!!
  24. Perhaps overlooked, but those push ups worked !! This game 7 for 62 yards, and two less then Tenn had= they didn't give the game away with stupid mistakes!
  25. Field position can win a game
