  1. So Groot Von and Kingsley Jonathan are 3 players we have not 2 under contract next year? I think that’s why they were ok moving on from Boogie
  2. Think they like Kingsley Jonathon and while not signed I think the team still has control as a restricted Free Agency.
  3. Sure what he’s shown so far is not enough to be a starter and you would want to upgrade. but I think he’s got a bit of growth he can achieve. Showing flashes is what will he get him a contract though. I wouldn’t scoff at 6.5 sacks. Additionally he has not shown that level of production before for so long. Agree he had some great games and then disappeared for a most the season. He’s now registering more good games as he gets more consistent.
  4. You need to define terrible. Cause he allowed a passer rating of 75 in 2022. He wasn’t as good as he was in all pro year or 2021 but he was comparable to his rookie season and 2020. Better throw some respect on that name.
  5. Why is right tackle more important? Do you have any pressure vs QB rating stats? If it’s just feels, then I feel pressure from the right is much less important than from the left as I’ve seen JA17 make more incredible plays to his right than left.
  6. I don’t mind replacing him but can we all agree that if he gets 6.5 sacks again on limited snaps he’ll get a second contract with someone? I don’t know that he ever becomes DE1 but I still see starter in his realizable ceiling.
  7. Switch the teams (division and conference) and tell me niners have the same postseason success with the Chiefs in the division. Also of note only the chiefs and bills have been to the playoffs and won a game each of the last three seasons. If anything we have been very consistent of late after a slow start with McBeane
  8. Playoffs are specifically against your conference of which the AFC has been better the past few years. I certainly think we get to the championship game more frequently if we are in the other conference and the niners are in this conference.
  9. Now tell me how many super bowls we wouldve made if we were in the NFC? I think 2020 and 2021 the NFC was pretty weak and we would have had much easier roads (also of note: teams that beat us lose the next week pretty consistently).
  10. This thread is weird. Not looking through it all. Over the cap has a very different number with 6 mil available. Beane likely has different number. Also were very unlikely to cut guys with big dead cap like Poona Ford or Mitch Morse. What are we doing here? They may extend Jones but I think they dont need to do much.
  11. Thoughts on Ferguson being the guy cut to stand in the parking lot for a couple minutes while they put someone on IR? He’s a vet so no waivers. No dead cap. And I think they’ve done it with him before.
  12. Sherfield is a proven ST player as well as blocker. He doesnt have huge receiving production at WR (though 400+ yards last year in Miami is nice) but a lot of that seems to because he hasnt gotten the reps (last year was the first year with more than 350 snaps). So the things hes proven in are not things that come across in a box score.
  13. Agree that they performed worse as the season went on, but those metrics are agnostic to Allen's escapability. He was pressured as a low percent per drop back. Additionally to the point about performing worse as the season went, the passing attack became more predictable as a vertical passing attack post injury. Bengals game was super bad, but overall pro football reference says he got pressured at lower rate than most QBs (#5) Agree Bengals was inexcusable and just generally was our worst game of the year. However, if your expectation is that Allen gets 2.5 seconds on average to throw the ball. Then your expectation was met. Many other QBs had less time in the pocket (maybe cause they threw it faster). I think the pressure % and pkt time tell a very different narrative than whats being said about the OL last year (again Saffold, didnt meet the expectation).
  14. At least one site disagrees with your thoughts on pressure. Pro football reference has him as 5th lowest for Pressure % and 6th for pocket time. The line def got worse as the season went along and wasnt what i had expected but I think it was better than 2021. I know you dont say it here (but you sorta imply it), but folks talking like we are the worst line in the league while being the number 2 scoring offense. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/passing_advanced.htm
  15. Yes but they may not need to send Knox on a route as often considering Kincaid has shown such an ability to get separation. Or Knox can release later after chipping. TE doesnt take the place of OT but TE blocking is an option that gets used if you dont trust your OT.
  16. They are only not the same in your evaluation. at this point having not played a game in the NFL and being drafted in similar spots i think its fair to treat them similarly. The knox question was getting to your ability to evaluate. I dont see any reason to trust your evaluation at this point over the staff that found/developed Luke Kuechly, Matt Milano, Tremaine Edmunds (are there any misses really for Beane/McD at LB?).
  17. I like the trade up scenario better, but its still 3rd round Lbs in back to back years with just as much confidence they can be the long term solution. Youre just sore they didnt trade up to get your guy it sounds like. Presumably they like Williams better? LB hasnt been such a problem as OL in terms of our ability to draft or develop talent.
  18. So you wanted us to spend our second on him and not O'cyrus Torrence. Cause Simpson went before our 3rd round pick. Or are you saying we shouldve moved up again? youre gonna need to explain more about "taking Trenton Simpson" to make it the right pick cause its not a simple as the Creed Humphrey/Basham situation. Gilliam is a TE, I think Morris also makes it (why is Isabella not a PS player), AJ Klein to PS for Cam Lewis, Quessenberry over Doyle (at least from reports so far), and probably Von to PUP for one last player (maybe Spector) We ran with 4 DTs last year. And I think this assumes Phillips on the PUP so we get reinforcements eventually. Agree on TE (though Gilliam has been playing with them). Thanks for explaining. Strong disagree on Simpson over Torrence. Also surprised youre just writing players off after a year. Assuming you didn't have high thoughts on Knox then. Lastly in your proposed trade up scenario we have two 3rd rd linebackers in back to back years and you liked one of them so thats why you think we have long term solution? Feels much the same but we lose another pick later in the draft.
  19. Yes but if he was in the competition he would get more reps. Since he’s gotten almost nothing I think he’s vet PS. No one is gonna pick him up so he’s an easy stash.
  20. Primarily due to what McD said about closer look, but many people have been thinking its down to Bernard/Dodson since Spectors rotation was skipped at the last practice. Scrimmage and coming days will be telling but I wouldnt be surprised if Spector has fallen out of the competition since the other two guys started games last year and Spector got very few snaps at LB (Steelers game only iirc).
  21. Its based off of McD's comments. He was asked why they didnt rotate Spector in. He said they wanted to look closer at Bernard and Tdot. I have not heard Klein doing anything and he seems to be meeting my expectation of vet on the PS. Spector seems to have more juice than I expected but I will be surprised if he gets the MLB job.
  22. Everyone needs to practice. Get the vocal chords into midseason form Why do you think he'll be a healthy scratch? I expect him to have a lot of ST reps which should be enough value to get him a jersey on game day. On the Elam issue, I think the coaches are just making him earn it and know its not handed to him. To expand, the coaches love players that have been challenged in their careers. I suspect they think its important to have that resilient in the face adversity trait. Elam has not really been challenged in that way in his career. Son of an NFL player thats a 5 star recruit that goes to the SEC and plays right away. Hopeful this is the case because Elam has still been getting a lot of reps with the first team and at the end of the year was the CB2 they went with. I think this offseason they want to challenge him and see him rise to it before having him take over.
  23. I agree I think he has to earn and more so than other players. 5 star recruit I believe playing in the SEC. Would surprise me if McD felt he had to teach him a bit. I’m hopeful because when push came to shove in the playoffs they went with Elam.
  24. I don’t. I think continuity is important on the OLine. Let morse, our starter, get as many reps with two new guys next to him. I get your reasoning but you’re thinking too far out. No one has seemed to mention this throw was over Hyde!!!! Not the MLB or some other dude but Micah freaking Hyde (one of the best deep ball defenders in the league). Motioning Cook wide in 12 personnel is gonna be deadly
  25. Define really bad. He had a QBR of 75.8 against his coverage last year (between Kenny Pickett and Zach Wilson level of play, the worst two QBs by QBR). That is up from 2021 (59.9) and his all pro year in 2018 (43.3) but not different than his rookie year or 2020. Even in a "down" year he was still good. They will start him cause hes always good and thats when HE is playing poor. From the improvement we saw every game last year and what weve heard from this year I expect him to have a better year than last.
