  1. Duly noted, excellent point! He'll have a good mentor in the route running and run blocking department for at least a year, hopefully he'll benefit from it.
  2. Nice job again Quinn, I enjoyed reading that and agree that he has the potential to be more, for the reasons you wrote about: the speed, being able to track the ball, ability to play off his strengths and run counter type vertical routes, and his footwork at full speed is exceptionally smooth. He certainly has things to work on like running a fuller route tree but.. . The thing that gives me hope for him to more was illustrated in the Iowa St. gif where Listenbee runs the slant. Its not that he ran a slant, but how he ran it: he stemmed the route and pressed the CB's outside shoulder (the CB has to respect the vertical route and Listenbee plays it perfectly) and as soon as the CB opened his hips, BAM!, Listenbee plants his foot and is inside the corner wide open, shoulders perpendicular to the LOS and ready to receive the ball. To top it off, the pass is off target and Listenbee adjusts at full speed takes a quick step up field which is hard to do at full speed and catches the ball behind him, which is also incredibly hard to do. Most receivers would not make that subtle adjustment with the ball in the air and the ball would likely go through their finger tips or be just outside their reach for an incompletion. Thats an NFL route, with an NFL caliber catch. He was a late round target of mine for the Bills, as his speed is a fantastic complement to Watkins and allows Woods to slide inside to the slot and play to his strengths as well on long passing downs and when they want to go to "11" personnel packages in general. He has developmental potential for sure and I love that he can play to his strengths early and not have to play a lot while learning to run the route tree.
  3. Certain as in the majority of plays, or certain as in the minority plays? Did he certainly play with effort in the majority of plays/games you watched, or did he certainly play with effort in the vast minority of plays/games I watched? The majority of plays/games I saw he looked like a slug, sure he was on the field and expanded energy, but he certainly spent the majority of the time behaving like my son who got his kindle fire taken away and went through the motions of doing what was asked of him afterwards, of that I am certain. Any statement that involves Buffalo regressing because 2015 Mario Williams is gone and replaced by a guy who plays like Lawson does through the draft is a joke. Well said. So in short: Addition through subtraction
  4. Buffalo (minus) 1 DE Slug (plus) 1 DE Junk Yard Dog = Regression... Buffalo (minus) 1 Back up CB injured most of the year = Regression... Buffalo (minus) 1 Miss-cast LB (Plus) best ILB in Draft, (bonus plus) scheme fit = Regression... Buffalo (minus) 1 oft-injured WR who played in 5 games = Regression... Buffalo (plus) 1 interior pass rusher = Regression... Clearly Buffalo 2016 = DOOMED!!! John Clayton = Lazy Turd... p.s. Dont look up, the sky is falling.
  5. I agree with your assessment of the numbers game, but it seems off to me that they are already ready to move on from him and started to last year with the Harvin signing. IF a contract with Woods can be agreed upon that is not over market or FA crazy, I dont see why they would not bring him back, the feeling I get is that they want to let him go. I cant figure out why, unless his agent is talking crazy #'s already... He was 50th in receptions for WR's last year and I believe T70th in yards for WR's, which is not bad considering he did not start the 1st 5 games and played in 14 games (9 starts) total, on a bad hammy. I dont think he's as easily replaceable as people think. Other WR's have comparable stats, but they mostly started and played the whole season, proportionally the stats are not as comparable as many think. Anyway, I could see it ending up like a Searcy situation, I think Woods is a much better WR than Searcy was a S, and worth it on the right contract. Edit: It'll be interesting to see what Woods looks for contractually.
  6. Woods is the most under appreciated player on this team IMO, not only by the fans in general but the coaching staff, which surprises me. Factor in the different QB's (# of and QB play itself), injury (playing through it, when many wouldnt), run heavy offense, not starting every game last year and lack of public support/belief from the organization... I dont get it. Woods would have had around 7/8 TD's and 800 yards receiving in 2014 (full healthy year 2) if he didnt have EJ Manuel air mailing passes over his head the first quarter of the season (check the game logs w/Orton vs. Manuel, reception/target rate 38% up to 72%). Despite another new QB and being demoted to start the season last year and playing through a groin injury that ended up requiring surgery he still produced at a pretty equal rate if you look beyond the front line "stats". I think he's a better WR than he gets credit for. I dont get it. He'll go somewhere else most likely and be productive especially if the system has a QB that utilizes Woods strengths or a legit passing QB, while the Bills cycle through street FA's and draft picks that may or may not produce and play like their hair is on fire, "cant wait". Worked for the Eagles, sorry Chiefs with Maclin... I believe the organization has already decided to let him go at the end of the year, regardless of future contractual issues and I hope I am wrong.
  7. Thats what I see from him, especially his play speed when tracking, IMO its noticeably faster than his timed speed. Edit: Would rather have him coming off the edge than IK.
  8. Agreed. The deal would have been totally lopsided if it were Dallas's 2016 2,3 and 2017 1st for 19, in favor of Buffalo, while nice for the Bills, I dont see anyone doing that in this situation. Based on what? (#not(bold!)mad/inquisitive, #missingsweetener) The history here a la the 2004 trade between the Bills and Cowboys had very similar circumstances. That trade was 43, 144 (2nd and 5th rounders) and a future 1st to move up to 22. The comp. here is 34 and 101 (2nd and 4th (Dallas has no 5th or 6th)) and a future 1st to move up to 19, with Buffalo likely throwing in a later pick to even it out a little possibly, or Dallas dipping into the 2017 draft pool further to compensate for the lack of a 5th in 2016.
  9. These 3 posts summarize the situation perfectly. Whaley would be the laughing stock of the league and a moron to have accepted that trade and lose value (period). The trade should have looked like this: Dallas's 2nd and 4th (or 3rd) in 2016, and their 2017 1st for #19. Signed sealed and delivered.
  10. I see him as a rotational pass rusher and special teams player, his best attribute is bending the edge using his lower body flexibility and maintaining his balance, he also has very good short area quickness. He does not have the long speed to play safety or full time LB IMO, his instincts could allow him to play a joker role, but he will get eaten alive as a linebacker on contact blocks (lack of sand in his pants). A couple examples in the video of his ability to bend the edge, his balance and flexibility is outstanding: :54, 1:18, 1:30, 1:45, 1:56, 2:31 (turns the edge then cuts on a dime and flattens to make the play on the back), 3:01 his get off is outstanding then he bends "the U" or "Hook" and makes the play, IMO this is his most impressive play I have seen of his, his body angle to the ground around the edge is amazing, its rare to be able to do that then cut back up-field and make a play like this.
  11. What's a draft it'll be!! I hope so... Edit: Knee?? I-I-I
  12. Would rather go Billings, Cravens, C. Jones and S. Shepard myself, then look and C. Jones and K. Hogan later at QB.
  13. Im saying that I would like him to drop some weight, from 269 to about 260 so that he is a little quicker and able to move better. That would allow him to be a better pass rusher athletically IMO while still allowing him to use his power and strength, it would make him a better pass rusher, attack the edge with speed and enhance his ability to play in space in coverage as a OLB. If he stays at his weight or adds weight, I think it would compromise his movement skills and then he would compare favorably to Shaun Ellis, which is not a knock on him, but IMO would limit his athleticism and ability to drop and rush (attack with speed), making him more of on the LOS end. I think he could shed weight and do both, adding weight IMO is going to be more limiting for him in terms of his ability.
  14. So much talent left, I cant wait till tonight... I keep getting the willies when I look at the players left, personally I like Billings, Reed or Ragland at 49 as realistic options, the physicality level would amazing combined with Lawson. Cravens, C/D. Jones, Robinson, Bell, Cash, D. Thompson, Boyd, Ward, oh my...
  15. If he's there they should silence the phones, run to the podium and turn the card in. I was really surprised he made it out of the first round. Tenn, Dal, Balt, KC, Chi, and Mia, all have CB needs and draft in the first 10 picks of the 2nd round I dont think he makes it past the 42nd pick.
  16. I'd like to see Lawson slim down a bit and be a little quicker. If he stays or adds weight, this would be a great comp and could we be so lucky!
  17. Yeah, his attitude/mentality/instincts/inner dog are all big time pluses as intangibles which IMO are elite level. I am not a high on him as many, but I think he's the OLB/DE hybrid type the defense needs (complement to Hughes), diversifies the front and a solid pick at 19. My comp on him is: Courtney Upshaw, only Lawson is a much better pass rusher. IMO he is what people thought Courtney Upshaw could develop into.
  18. Yeah, I get that and along those lines is what I am thinking (meant to say but didnt?). Playing to their strengths, literally in Shaq's case by playing him on the strong side and taking advantage of his strength and power, while utilizing Hughes speed off the edge off the weakside to create isolation situations for him. Regardless, Shaq does help diversify the defense and options on the edge.
  19. Do you see Hughes and Lawson switching sides based on the formation, Lawson going strong side, with Hughes handling the weak side?
  20. I was thinking the same thing last night, its a good question.
  21. It's about to get real... The pick is in...
  22. Mayock and numerous others had a 2nd-3rd rounder pre-knee issue. The knee caused helped him to drop IMO, he was widely viewed as a 3 down RB early in the process.
