  1. Roger that, they ran their usual college spread stuff throughout the game, but people fail to recognize the Patriots have incorporated college spread concepts for years into their offense. Last night Clemson ran scissors with :19 left with their receiving TE on a soph SS and Watson one way or another recognized it and threw a beautiful NFL pass, route concept + QB play = NFL. Game winning TD was NFL/Patriots special slant/flat rub/pick route. Perfect pass. That was a future NFL defense they played last night, and when it mattered Warson beat them in NFL style with his arm and possibly his mind.
  2. That's what I saw too. The last :19 of the game he threw 2 big completions in NFL style passing concepts, the second won the game.
  3. Here's another: 4th quarter, :19 seconds left, Williams runs the post, Legitt runs the corner against a Safety, Watson throws the matchup pass where Legitt can catch it. NFL isolation/matchup play all day long.
  4. Who runs the game winning TD play? I'll give you a hint: Their initials are NE...
  5. They ran pro style passing concepts tonight.
  6. Not really, a controlled play, more so than a deep kick.
  7. He is, he showed a lot tonight in terms of things translatable to the NFL.
  8. Watson just locked himself into the top ten as I see it.
  9. "Look at that closing speed by Foster." Kirk Herbstreit Foster tackling Watson short of the 1st on 3rd and 15 in the 3rd quarter (3:52). In man coverage on 18 - Legitt (RTE) down the seam into a deep route. That is special, he's dominating the NCG from the ILB spot in all phases of the national championship game.
  10. The whole Sammy vs OBJ argument in general lacks any context and usually ignores reality, the last 9 games last year Watkins was better, also happens he was healthy. Clearly OBJ has not been injured and has been in a better situation offensively from everything from the scheme to the QB throwing the ball to him. By the way; they are both great IMO. Trent Dilfer is clearly a better QB than Dan Marino, he won a Super Bowl and "proved it" on the field.... Here's a good idea I saw on this board: trade Sammy Watkins for a 2nd round pick, his "worth"... Watch any tape he's regularly open and not thrown too, he must be aweful, the only thing Sammy has proved is that he is not as healthy at this point in their careers, otherwise the tape says their both great and circumstances overwhelmingly favor OBJ. p.s. I'm not contorted in anyway right now.
  11. Didnt notice McDowell was still there, doubt he would be, IMO he's going mid-1st to early-2nd, would be a win for sure in the 2nd! Davis - King/McDowell = Win-Win/Win. Lol, agreed!! Personally as a LSU fan, Hooker will be gone by 10 and there is a slight chance Adams is there IMO, so... 1 - Adams 2 - Mahommes (not a big fan myself, but I see the potential, so why not?) 3 - Gennesy 4 - Etta-Tawo Two possible "off the bus starters" in Adams and Gennesy, Ill dream with you
  12. "You cant defend the perfect pass." The truest football statement ever, IMO. You mad bro? LOL, damn those pesky facts...
  13. I dont think he'll be on any draft boards given the violent nature of the video, and suspect he'll have a hard time getting an UDFA contract despite what Stoopid and Musberger think. Ray Rice was remorseful and did not get a second chance, Greg Hardy got one second chance and had no video and IMO is a much more vile human being, but plays PR-DE and had no accompanying video, had there been a video, I would bet no 2nd chance. Mixon and Rice common denominator = video + RB position(?). Its a PR nightmare to begin with, and having that video regarding Mixon's 1st incident, there would be no way one could justify anything regarding a 2nd incident, your franchise would get publicly crushed and as a GM you would likely get fired, as an owner... The juice is not worth the squeeze IMO, I believe Freeman. College players seem to be getting a benefit of the doubt in these situations which gives me pause in saying 100% that he will not be drafted, but there is video of the incident, which could be the determining factor as sad as that is... However, as KC did with T. Hill, its possible another franchise will see the juice being worth the squeeze... Do Dorsey and Reid take Hill if their is a video of Hill punching and choking his pregnant (in the stomach)? If (yes I know "if") he does anything like that again, do any of the 3 ever see an NFL facility in any capacity again? Especially if their is video released... Personally I do not see how anyone could stake their careers on such a risky situation, but it is the NFL...
  14. Its amazing to me how far the draft universe has come and how many talented people there are analyzing and posting in regards to the draft now, lots of quality! Wish I had more time to read it all... I enjoy reading thebillswire, keep it up!
  15. I think you may have maid a mistake on your Barber comp, typo/auto correct? Thought I would fix that for you... All kidding aside, the comp to Winfield and his ability to essentially eliminate the short and quick passing game with his read and react skills and would help his cause at CB in todays NFL which is heavy with the short/quick passing game and lots of 50/50 verticals seemingly (not the 50/50 part without safety help for King), I am not sure he has Winfields ability to get around blocks and make plays in the run game but its something ill look for, aside from the missed tackle in the Outback Bowl. The style Sherman plays is actually a good comp a well IMO, you are spot on about him bailing or opening his hips to early (affects his ability to locate WR's when turning having eyes in the backfield too much potentially, not sure yet if his peripheral vision is good enough), I noticed that with King as well, that was a similar problem Mo Claiborne had and affected his transition to the NFL coming out of LSU, only he had the athleticism and recovery speed King does not IMO. This is by far my biggest concern with King, he seems to bail out early so that he doesnt get burned deep, IMO because he does not have the recovery or long speed to hang with burners (Purdue TD allowed) if he does not anticipate deep routes correctly. I agree he is going to have issues with double moves, pump fakes and QB's that utilize eye manipulation (see Penn St. TD he allowed) in addition to quality route runners. I think he can be played by savy QB's. Personally, id move him to SS and let him flourish in the box/short-intermidiate area, he makes great plays on in and out cuts, or as a CB in a system that utilizes a cover 2 shell concept, especially zone or under man (Safety help over the top will be imperative to maximizing his skill set IMO.). I agree that he would fit in nicely in Schwartz's wide nine, cover 2 style defense as a CB, that would certainly play into his strengths with Safety help over the top. My .02, I appreciate yours!
  16. While they did franchise him this year, they did pay him just short of $20 million for the season and if they want to become the Browns, they will let him go in FA. They should have paid him after last year and its going to cost them more this year, if not he's the top FA on the market. Dude is going to get paid and I pray the Bills end up being the ones to do so.
  17. 100% Agree, replace Luck with TT as their QB and they would be the 49ers...
