Jarran Reed On Bills - "We'd Be Unstoppable"
somnus00 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair to Reed, he was double teamed a LOT. Also he says that he wasn't asked to rush the QB very often. That said, he doesn't seem to play with the quickness needed to be a quality pass rusher. Personally, I'm not very high on some of the pass rushers in this draft like Spence or Lloyd. And while I see the amazing potential of Chris Jones or Nkemdiche, their work ethic scares me (a motivated Chris Jones would look great in a Bills uniform though). Overall, I really like Andrew Billings. He doesn't have the pass rush ability of Chris Jones, but he is strong and has quick feet. He can occupy blockers, get to the QB, and collapse the pocket. I think he's as close to complete as we could hope for at 19. Higher floor than Jones, but with a lower ceiling. -
"MOCK DRAFT" Rounds 1-5,love to here some feed back.
somnus00 replied to Gamache518's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love Billings. Strong guy, extremely quick feet. He just seems to play at a different speed than most of the DL in this class. I don't think he'll be there at our 2nd pick. Ideal for me would be a trade down into the 20s and take him there. I'm not as high on most of the linemen in this draft as are most pundits. -
Should Bills look at Dak Prescott as QB pick?
somnus00 replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've watched a lot of Dak. He clearly has a ton of arm strength and talent. When he throws the ball, it gets where it's going in a hurry. Beautiful looking deep ball. I can see why people like him. What is concerning is that he doesn't seem to have very good ball placement on anything over 15 yards. He would make, in my opinion, a great west coast offense QB. He's great on short routes. But NFL defenses would be able to take that away from him. He would need to develop his intermediate and long route accuracy. I just don't know if that can be coached. Definitely some positives in his game, but I wouldn't be confident in him as a starter. -
Which QB do you want the Bills to draft?
somnus00 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hogan is the way to go for me. He doesn't have a cannon like Jones, but on short and intermediate routes he puts the ball where receivers can get YAC. He seems to read the field well. He's not afraid to run with it if nothing is there. He's not just an athlete who plays quarterback. I think people get too attached to athleticism. -

Seems like they're getting experienced, depth guys with some turnover ability. -

What's the BS excuse if we lose to Miami this week?
somnus00 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry. I realize I don't post much here. But I've been visiting this site for more than 10 years. I love reading Bills related conversation. But why do people like you even start topics like this? Constructive criticism is one thing, but nagging, whining, and b!t@hing before the game is even played? Is negativity and pessimism so fused to your core that you can't even look forward to a Bills game? Be honest, you're not looking forward to the game, you're looking forward to the Bills losing so that you can come back here and take some kind of pride in predicting the disaster of a loss. Because after two games into the season, you've already decided you don't like this failure of a team. There are so many great, intelligent posters here at twobillsdrive. Even when they disagree they usually speak with intelligence and the debate is terrific. You're not at their level. My rant is over, the mic has been dropped. -

Colts fans went from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck. The football Gods have revoked their rights to gripe about any personnel related issues for the next 15 years. -
Spygate to Deflategate-inside what split NE and NFL apart
somnus00 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Patriots fans are acting like this is a conspiracy between the NFL, ESPN, and SI. They are pretending that the story is filled with made up stories. Consider this for a moment. The cameramen, allegedly, were in disguise (hiding the fact that they worked for the Patriots). I think this bothered me the most. First, this shows that the Pats knew that it was against the rules. Why hide what you're doing if everything is copacetic? There is no need to hide who you are if you're following the rules. Second, if this were false information the Pats could lose revenue due to negative publicity and would seem to have grounds to sue for libel. If this is all false, the Pats would sue. Do you think Kraft wouldn't sue (or at least threaten to sue)? They cheated. They know they cheated. Their fans know they cheated. -
Rapid Reaction - 10 Observations About Tonight's Game
somnus00 replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always enjoy reading Bill from NY's "10 things" posts. But you've done a good job this preseason. No reason we can't have two lists. Just stay away from the Grateful Dead lyrics. -
Rapid Reaction - 10 Observations about Tonight's Game
somnus00 replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funny, over the past several years during the preseason I would say to myself, "The offense looks fit for the morgue...but it's just preseason so keep your head up." After today's preseason game I'm saying, "Hey the offense looked alive...but it's a preseason game so keep things on an even keel." After years of being disappointed I want to keep myself emotionally balanced, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't encouraged after today's game. Did they light it up? No, but they looked like an NFL offense for a change. With our defense that's enough. -

I enjoy these videos with prospective NFL QBs. I remember watching the clip of Mariucci sitting down with Matt Barkley. Prior to this video, I liked Barkley's game and thought it translated well to the NFL. After watching the video, I wanted the Bills to have nothing to do with him. To me, he clearly didn't have the mental capability to QB in the pros. Mariucci gave him a simple mental QB task that I was able to complete...and I'm no QB. It seems like a small thing, but to me it revealed so much. NFL quarterbacks must have football smarts. He didn't have it. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/0ap2000000145244/Barkley-gets-put-to-the-test

Bills making a playoff run next year?
somnus00 replied to Joshua25's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team is stacked with talent all over the field. Just imagine if we had a decent quarterback. In my opinion, the season will hinge on Greg Roman. Our OC is the key to this season. Our D will be good/great. Our special teams will be bringing back our aces (Easley, Dixon, Graham, and Money Carpenter). Can Roman get decent QB play? Can he get production out of McCoy, Watkins, Harvin, Clay, and Woods? Yes our QB will be holding our team back; it's up to Roman to find a way to put up points. -

Will the Bills ever sign Charles Clay?
somnus00 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the Dolphins want Clay taking up $7 million on their salary cap. I think this is Whaley's belief as well. In my opinion, Whaley is betting that the Dolphins will remove the transition tag leaving Clay unrestricted. -
Louisville OL John Miller to visit Bills
somnus00 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not his best game. He looks slow, clumsy, and stiff here; like his knees were bothering him. His size jumps out at you. He looks huge, but he isn't using his size well. -
The word on Roman is that he is a very intelligent, innovative football mind. Now take a look at the talent we're accumulating on offense. It seems that Roman, who likes a running game, has a lot of options. Maybe he has something new in mind. We have a great running back in McCoy. A WR who excels at the end-around and reverse (Harvin). Bubble screen master Watkins. And two quarterbacks who have wheels in EJ and Tyrod. I'm not a brilliant football mind, but I can see potential here to keep a defense off balance.

Free agency started on Tuesday. Another round of cuts come will happen after June 1st. And we have the draft. The Bills' roster has changed a lot already, and it will change a lot more before the season starts.
