  1. I can't understand why people are making an issue about Whaley discussing EJ during the interviews. What is Whaley supposed to do? Should he tell non-Bills employees, "Don't worry I'm going to trade for Foles in the off season," or, "Yeah, I'm going to get Cousins and Sanchez to compete." You can't tip your hand and tell non-Bills staff what the future plans of the team will be. Like it or not, EJ is the current starting quarterback of this team. It only makes sense for Whaley to discuss our quarterback with prospective coaches. This allows for three things: 1) Compare and contrast the strategies with those of Marrone. 2) Guage creativity of the potential coach. 3) Get ideas about what can be done with EJ in the future.
  2. To me it seemed, from the beginning, as though Marrone just wanted out of Buffalo. Apparently Marrone was nervous about the football czar and whether the two would get along. Yet everyone knew that Polian was going to sign on to the job and ostensibly he and Marrone had a good relationship already. Doug, therefore, had nothing to worry about. He already knew the "czar." Next it seems like he was demanding things that he knew he wouldn't get. This would give him an excuse to leave. Why would a new owner give Doug an extension when two years already remain...and to a man who had yet to reach the playoffs? Why would the owner give an extension to an offensive staff that was truly offensive? The whole thing stinks of Marrone forcing his way out by manufacturing excuses.
  3. I know which body part opinions resemble, but here is mine anyway. I had my suspicions about Orton's desire to play QB over the past 5 or 6 weeks. My suspicions were confirmed during the Oakland game. Down two scores late in the game Orton throws a terrible pass to end the drive. 30 seconds later the camera shows him on the sidelines joking and laughing with another player. I can't imagine Brady, Manning, Wilson, or Rodgers acting like that. Yes this is just a game, but the good QBs have a competitive fire. I believe that EJ has a similar problem as well. EJ is a great kid with the character and hard working mentality that you want in a QB. But playing QB in the NFL seems like its just a job to him. He seems to lack a competitive fire. I'd be willing to bet that the good QBs would be pissed off losing a game of checkers. EJ is the kind of guy who would let you win if he felt like you were having a bad day. I'm new here. This is my first post, but I'm looking forward to future discussions.
