  1. As I posted in the other thread, he was playing RDE in place of Merriman from what I saw. The run was "left end" from KC's perspective, against our RDE. Again, I hope someone taped it to provide more detail. There were two big run plays when Carrington was at RDE in the first half. He looked to have difficulty disengaging from his single blocker both times.
  2. I posted this in another thread. The two longest runs came when Carrington was playing down at RDE (the runs went to his side). If someone looks at the film maybe they can add more, but it looked like Carrington failed to set the edge on the first one (or possibley was held?), and on the second was pushed out of the way as dexter ran between the G-T. I believe Barnett almost got him, but got caught between players. These two runs could be the result of Carrington's inexperience? Maybe with Merriman in, the results would've been different on thsoe two plays? Either way, the run D was significantly better, and will continue to get better.
  3. Money may have factored into it, but it was one of several factors, and probably doesn't top the list. Here's a list of possible factors: - One-dimensional outside receiver who doesn't fit the profile for Gailey's offense - Never "clicked" with Fitz - Money - A couple of younger guys (Jones and Easley) ready to take the next step I'm sure there are more.
  4. Wasn't predicting, rather saying I'd like to see it happen. They lost a lot of close ones last year because they couldn't finish. I'd like to see them close the deal on a close one at home.
  5. No. You can put me in the Buffett camp on this one...
  6. The point is that you don't pursue "austerity" measures when the economy is bordering on a double-dip recession. You worry about "fixing" the deficit after you've helped push the economy toward recovery. There are a lot of good ideas mentioned in BO's speech that will hopefully be passed. Once the economy gains serious momentum, and unemployment gets closer to 6%, a majority of the deficit gap will be "closed." That's when you start working on the long term issues and fixes. No one advocates the caricature that you paint.
  7. Staying on the field, and getting off the field, something the Bills stunk at last year, but did well yesterday: Bills 50% KC 23% Add the excellent red zone performance, and good things start happening.
  8. Given the schedule, I think we'll know for sure at the bye week. In my mind, there are three beatable teams, and three very tough teams in those 6. While my prediction is for the Bills to go 10-6, I have them at 3-3 by the bye. I like what Gailey said in his presser: basically 'we are a better team this year, but don't go annointing us yet.' I think the Raiders will be tough. I'd like to see the Bills win a squeaker with a last minute drive--a character building win...
  9. I am sure that most (with the exception of guys like Sully who play the bad cop) of the local media err on the side of caution so as not to be known as homer's by the locals, and the same goes for those with any national recognition (like Gaughan). Even though I was one of the optimist here, it was an educated guess. While I like what I saw, I would not start crowing that I was right (except for my survivor pool guess) until they show consistency. I have them pegged for 3-1 in the first 4 games. I'll reserve serious judgment until we've seen that somewhat larger body of work... A great win!
  10. Didn't notice on the two I saw, only saw that they ran 92's way, which would've been away from Dareus anyway. I assume that will be a trend, running away from Dareus...
  11. I think Carrington was playing RDE on two big plays that went his way. He didn't set the edge on the first, and the second they cut inside and Barnett got tangled and just missed. If I recall correctly.
  12. Bill mentioned Levitre in his post, but you can say the same about Bell, once his job was threatened, he turned it up. I like that Gailey is not afraid to "hurt someone's feelings" by letting them know that "no job is safe."
  13. I remember seeing two plays where he stood Hali up and Bell looked aggressive; I saw a few plays of help going to his side; and I saw one play where Bell was trying to pick up a stunt outside but couldn't get there. I think Fitz was rushed into an incomplete on that one. Those are the ones that I can remember. I liked the aggressiveness that Bell showed though.
  14. Oh Yeah Baby! Now I have to worry about next week...
  15. Rates on 10-year T bonds are 2%, it's a good time to borrow to do some more things to stimulate the economy. Work on the long term deficit issue when unemployment gets below 6%. The federal government issues its own currency, it doesn't have to balance its budget like a household, and shoudn't. The real deficit problem is long term, not short.
  16. I like what Buddy said about this in his 103.3 interview. DJ built a team that would work well in a dome, but not in Buffalo. When you play outside against the Pats and Jets, you will get out-muscled, and we did.
  17. Jay, For anyone who will only play 9 holes (or even to subsidize those playing 18), I have four 9-hole coupons that cover the cost--a free 9 holes. Hopefully I'll get a few more before next weekend. Well, I shouldn't say that it's free, it will cost a beer... TPS
  18. I think the 9-hole rate (after 1pm) at Arrow is $18 to walk with a push cart. I will find out by end of day if I can get any 9-hole coupons. If we can get something around 1:30-2, that would be good. And I haven't been referred to as a gentleman in quite sometime...
  19. Ironic that right after his speech, ABC goes right to breaking a story about a new threat--Obama's econ plan? On a serious note, it is worrisome that 9/11 falls on opening day, as I imagine an NFL game would be the kind of target AlQ would go after. And, according to the report, a couple of trucks have gone missing in KC.... My link
  20. Yeah, how long have we heard this refrain that the "FED is printing money." If so, why hasn't the economy improved? Where did all of that money go? On another note, two things mentioned by Obama that I hope congress passes: 1) cut the payroll tax for employers; 2) help homeowners refinance. The latter would have the biggest bang and would be a relatively cheap program to fund.
  21. The folks who own Rothland own Arrowhead which is across the street, and a much nicer course--the picture from that web site is actually the 18th at Arrowhead. I'd take Arrowhead over Rothland anyday. In fact, I might be able to find a couple of coupons for 9 holes at Arrowhead. I'll check and let you know tomorrow.
  22. You mean my $10 on the line for the Bills in the pool isn't good enough for you?
  23. I picked them in my survivor pool for week 1. Yeah baby!
  24. NO quarrel that it didn't meet the originators goals (yes, ms romer was a homer). If that's how you judge it, ok. It did have a positive impact in the ways I mentioned. Was there a better alternative? Yes.
