  1. I always thought this was one of the most brutally "cruel" lines of a song: We're cut adrift But still floating I'm only hangin on to watch you go down... My love...
  2. Most difficult call of the season because no one has any clue what the bills game plan will be on O. My gut says bills lose a close one.
  3. Well, in the short term, if today's dumping turns into a little trend, then rates will decline and you'll get some cap gains. Regardless, I'm in cash and will get back in after this all settles down...
  4. I think you're close, give or take a game either way. With the other aspects of the team play at a high level, they just need someone who can actually hit a moving target throughout the game. With EJ, his poor play throughout never let the Bills take command of a game. Most of his games he was in came down to the 4th quarter.
  5. looks like we should be more worried about deflation than inflation. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-09-29/gluts-spur-investor-exit-signaling-prolonged-price-slumps.html The stronger dollar will depress things too. I'm very leery about the stock market right now. Even emerging markets are risky as the strong dollar is causing the carry trade to unwind in a big way. On the other hand, there's no place for investors to make a buck....
  6. Looking at the schedules of all the teams in the East, it is there for the taking. The only Bills game I think is out of play is @Denver; everything else can go either way. If they are 3-3 after NE, and the win is against the Pats, they will be in a very good position. The next 6 games are what I'd consider the easiest part of the schedule--Minn, KC, Clev, 2xJets, and Miami. 4-2 there, then a split of the last 4 should do it.
  7. All they need is Trent dilfer-like production. If they have average qb production throughout games then they can take the East.
  8. A little salve on yesterday's wound. The AFCE is up for grabs!
  9. Any injury updates?
  10. Hopefully they will be able to open up the play book a bit, because they will need it this week.
  11. It's clear young QBs are much better at home than away, so why not start veterans on away games? This isn't a EJ Manuel bashing, it's a simple truth--inexperience on the road loses games, whether it's EJ or geno, or other rookies. I don't get it.
  12. Must have been the offense that gave up so many points then... The bottom line is points. Pettine's D gave up 24.3 ppg. ranking 21st. Right now, Schwartz's D is giving up 17.3 ppg and ranked 8th. there's a long way to go, but I'll take fewer points over sacks any day.
  13. On the road...another tight, defensive oriented game. Bills 20 Texans 17
  14. I mean by that, they will make a game of it with 27-8 teams (they are capable of beating them); there are a handful I don't think they can stay with. Given the parity in the league, they will need some bounces going their way in order to take the division. These are 2 very tough road games coming up, so a split would be very good. Then we'll see what they are made of when Brady comes to town...
  15. yes, hopefully after tonight's game people have a little more perspective. The Bills are a good team. SD is a very good team, and I would not get against them being in the Super Bowl barring more injuries. They are a well coached team. Buffalo beat a good Chicago team and a Miami team that beat the Pats. The AFCE is up for grabs and the Bills have as good a chance as any team to win that. They need to at least split the next two road games, then beat pats at home. Re EJ, as GG said, the game plans are based on keeping it simple for a young qb with training wheels on. Can't beat very good teams that way, but you can beat at least 28 of them...
  16. Good question. The old regime seemed to like him, but not Marrone. I made that comment because in Wednesday's presser, Marrone (in a discussion about Henderson) said something like "Richardson's going to be a heck of a football player." He also threw in a positive about Kuoandjio. My guess is that Urbik is just not agile and strong enough for Marrone's liking. Maybe some of the experts here could chime in?
  17. in a few more weeks, I won't be surprised to see Richardson crack the line up.
  18. Fortunately I'll be in SoCal for the weekend. I'll have to remember to get up by 10 am Sunday...
  19. I think it was in a Corey Graham interview off of BB.com, RE the Miami game, he said something like, "they adjusted at half time, then we adjusted in the 4th quarter." Not something you heard very often about previous coaching regimes....
  20. yes. They also have 2 on the PS if needed down the line.
  21. No. this is a better team by far than they've had in quite some time. That said, given the parity across the NFL, any team can win/lose a game on any given day. You need a little luck sometimes too...
  22. I like the match up at the Ralph. The weaknesses of the Chargers plays to our strength. They have not stopped the run well, and they have not run well. The D will play a similar style to the Bears game, bend but don't break. The obvious key is to prevent Gates from scoring in the red zone. On D, either KW or MD will have a big day--whoever they choose to leave 1 on 1. On O, Spiller needs to have a big day. Bills 27-20
  23. Not that I care about these, but I was just looking at the CBS poll and thinking I'd have them right around 10. They beat two teams that beat two very good teams.
  24. This hasn't been a great recovery, but, to be fair, the only recession I would compare this to is the 1930s, because the accumulation of debt prior to the recession--the most significant variable that determines its depth--was similar in both cases.
