I’ve lived on three golf courses, and I am familiar with the potential hazard. The people next door were part time residents and we went regularly check to see if their dining room window had been broken. Again. That same course has a PGA tournament and my wife’s cousin came to visit to see it. He got hit TWICE on the same day by PGA golfers. The first time was on the fly, then one bounced off the cart path and hit him. Imagine the damage the average hack could do! I was leaving for work one morning and a guy was using a club to try to retrieve his ball from under my car in FRONT of the house.

Our last house in Florida was in a community that goes ALL OUT for Halloween. It was a country club community with 36 holes of golf. They would use all their golf carts, plus bring in a couple more trucks full of carts and that’s how people get around (it’s a big community). Many people also own their own carts. Hundreds of people all gathered for the best party in town! Nobody rings your doorbell. If you want visitors you set up a station in the driveway by the road. One station might have Snickers bars, and the next might be a taco station and Coronas with a live band in the driveway. The guy across the street was a retired engineer and converted his 3 car garage into a house of horrors with unbelievable production! It wasn’t just people in coffins trying to scare you with a BOO! They have what feels like a real elevator that seems to be falling from up high with a fast scrolling view ending with a THUMP! I have no idea how they did it. 🤷‍♂️ At a certain time the roads are deserted as everyone goes to the clubhouse for DJ’s and costume contests. When we moved in there someone mentioned how much we’d enjoy Halloween there, which seemed like an odd thing to say. After the first year, I got it. That was my kind of Halloween!

I agree. You’ve got to hold that tiny neck to keep the little noggin’ up with solid support. Especially near the goal line. That’s can slow you down.

I don’t think that was very Jesuit of her. I went to Xavier Univ and many of my friends went to St X HS. One is still a coach there. They will not take kindly to this.

The sign of a great coach, right? Always teaching! 😊 I wouldn’t mind if Josh were a little more careful with the ball in general, but so far this year it’s been much better.

My wife thinks I’m strange because I have almost zero interest in candy or desserts. Halloween may be the reason for that. We didn’t get pieces of candy, we measured it more by the pound. We’d fill up pillow cases and garbage bags until they couldn’t hold any more, then stash them in the bushes and carry on with a fresh bag. We were surrounded by easy mark townhouses and even better, garden apartments. We’d ring all 8 doorbells and half of us would start upstairs and the other half down. It was an operation.

Jets winning hurts the Texans AND the Jets, imo. I want them in limbo so they can’t quite get up high enough in the draft to replace the King of Darkness.

I’m curious, has this advice been helpful, or expensive?

My current pup is almost 18 months old. Right around the time we started trusting her a little and leaving her out of the crate when we went out briefly we had an issue. A pissed off puppy! We have a rough routine, and the dogs generally get a trip to the park late morning. Well, I had something to do first, and it was too hot to take them. The park would be next. When I got home I found our bedroom carpet not only shredded at the threshold, but she had torn it away from the tack strip revealing about a third of the room. She was determined to get her damn energy out! She’s much better now that she survived that event. I love them to death, but they also need a healthy fear. She was a slow learner, but we made a deal and she’s going to make up for it with sweetness.

One of our buddies in college stumbled out of a bar late and walked up the road to some friends to sleep it off. He went to the wrong house and woke up with an older lady and her grown son standing over him. He had pissed their couch. Slightly awkward, I’m guessing. Lock your doors!!!

My son and his wife had to get rid of her cat when they brought home their first child. Damn cat was pissing all over the beds! Oh, and they needed new mattresses, and those are NOT cheap! Cat urine is “special” with that stink.

We went to a friend’s for dinner and he made Indian food. He’s a British guy and as we’re leaving he says in his funny little accent “you’ll want to pop a roll of toilet tissue in the freezer when you get home. You’ll thank me in the morning!”

That’s a lot of people to cook for! This reminds me of a couple who were our best friends early in our marriage. We bought our first house up the road from them, and they told us about their first house. They were so proud to be homeowners they insisted on hosting Thanksgiving. They ate early then settled in to watch football and drink beer. Their first house was an older house in NY and it only had one bathroom. They figured they could live with that for a starter home. Unfortunately, it was not well suited for a few hours later when everybody got food poisoning. 😂 .

You’re right, homicide would be excessive.

Anyone who votes “love ‘em” needs some time off here to get some much needed attention. We bought a new mattress a couple years ago, and what a seedy industry! We thought we finally had things worked out, but the guy driving the truck says to me “I can drag it up here for you, but it’s easier if I just tell you now it’s got a giant stain on it.” A “brand new” mattress! We ended up getting one thru Haverty’s.

That will get you a hot dog and a beer. Enjoy!

The true burner comes in the offseason. Maybe with more than one shot. I trust in the roster building.
