Thank you. I feel better now.

The mattress industry is a seedy world. My wife was looking for a brand new mattress for our bedroom and the delivery guys show up at the door. The first thing he says is “before we carry this is, I should tell you there is a stain on it.” WHAT!?!? Why did you even bring it? But they get paid to deliver, not sell mattresses and there was no way on earth I was accepting that! Ended up with one of the adjustable mattresses that can vibrate. The wife loves it, I’m OK with it. We have yet to determine if raising the head stops snoring, because I DO NOT snore! 😋 (Much or often.) The people who bought our last house kept the mattress in the built-in Murphy bed because they needed something to sleep on until their furniture arrived. They are normal people, and that thing was only used a handful of times.

I hear they knew they had to do something, and the room was fairly evenly split between cut him and give him an extension.

That looks very nice. And maybe it’s not too blazing hot there? We lived in a country club community in Florida that was all about golf. The roads were named for Gary Player (original designer of one of the two courses), Albert Tillinghast, Donald Ross, Dick Wilson (our street), etc. We were just tennis/social members but during the summer they offered us golf for cart fees only, like $15. SUPER affordable for two high level courses that had been redesigned by some of the big names (but I forget which ones). I was an idiot and rarely took advantage of it. The people who could afford to be somewhere cooler were gone, and the people still in town didn’t want to endure the heat. They just wanted people out there buying beer and balls, lunch, etc. It was a helluva deal for what you got. It was a far cry from the slightly improved pasture I remember as Audubon Golf on Maple Rd. I just looked it up and apparently it’s all par 3 now, but I don’t remember it that way. Either it has changed, or my mind has failed me…..again.

My wife said “the ear plugs don’t work.” I said “they are still in the wrappers.” Silly me thought that would be for the win. I’m sure they are still in wrappers, somewhere.

That’s interesting. Golf has rules? 😋 I honestly don’t know them well. Someone with me is almost always a friggin’ expert, but I’ve never been charged with anything. So far. As far as you know.

I can’t afford to get too attached to any one golf ball. We generally have very brief relationships. The Bridgestones are adequate for that kind of fling. It helps keep me moving at a nice pace. .

I hold myself to one rule: You can suck, but you cannot be slow. I buy used golf balls on line. I think there were 80 Bridgestones in the last order. If the ball isn’t easily found and played, I drop and move on. Speaking of which - the most frustrating thing in golf: the ball you know you hit down the middle of the fairway, but it can’t be found. Am I the only one this has happened to? GRRR!

That’s the way I voted, but honestly it was mostly because that’s the way I want it to turn out. Either way, if I’m a Jet’s fan I don’t feel great about the cost of having Rodgers without knowing what you are getting in terms of years and commitment. After the season the Jets fans will have to wait to see if he will bless them with his presence again. I suspect Daniel Jones will look like the correct answer by Christmas.

OH! I’d bet the weight loss really made a difference! I used to snore badly. I could wake myself up. It was real, and I admitted it. I got a CPAP and hated it. I couldn’t wear it more than a few hours. I got into a habit of staying up well past midnight so I could wear it briefly until my early rising wife got up. Once she’s up the mask came off. But some years have passed, I’ve lost a little weight (maybe 8-10 lbs, not drastic) and I swear I hardly ever snore now. She is not so convinced, and I’m not wearing it….so usually I just go to another bedroom where I can’t bother her and she won’t wake me up in the morning. It’s not new, it works fine, and we’ve never been closer. But we’ve been traveling lately and spending the full night in the same room with no other options. We recently went on an 2 week trip and I took the CPAP, but only wore it a couple hours on the first few nights. We were both so exhausted we slept like rocks. We went to NYC last weekend and I didn’t even take it. Short trip so less chance I could ruin it. Never a problem. Congrats on the weight loss. I hope that was all good for you. And if anyone wants to get approved for a CPAP, be sure you get hammered the night before your sleep study like I did! 😂 .

I think that dude was just in it for the orange slices all along!!!

My buddy loves golf! He just had a putting green put in his back yard and I must say it’s pretty sweet. It should be for the cost! (I think his was about $15k.) He doesn’t have a net for full swings but you can chip to the green over the pool which can result in the “BLOOP” noise when the ball hits water, making the experience feel just like my regular golf game. 😋 He’s the kind of guy who always needs the newest thing, so he always has at least four sets of clubs in his garage. When people come to visit, no clubs is no excuse. He golfs as frequently as possible, while I might go once or twice a year. He gets pissed because I consistently out-drive him and while he beats me, it’s not by that much. When I go out it seems the golfers always want to gamble. I’m not there to gamble. When gambling comes up I tell them I plan to cheat on every hole. That takes some of the wind out of the gambling sails!

I’ve lived on three different golf courses, but never took it seriously as tennis was much more my thing. My most serious year I golfed maybe 15-20 times and I became somewhat consistent in my mediocrity. Lessons as a kid stuck with me a little bit I think, and we got the kids lessons at a young age. Our youngest son married into a golfing family (as in his in-laws golf daily) and he’s pretty good. A guy who worked for me had a buddy who was involved in the PGA tournament that happens on Hilton Head every year. With him you could go to any golf course in the area and walk on for free without a tee time regardless of how busy they were. Pretty awesome! I would sneak in 9 holes after work that “busy year” at a fairly straight forward course and typically shoot in the 43-45 range which I was very happy with. I couldn’t break 100 now if my life depended upon it. The wife and son got me new clubs 4-5 years ago and I think I’ve used them twice. I got the wife clubs too, but she still works and there never seems to be time and she hates the summer heat. It seems like a great thing to do together, but it just never happens. We do enjoy Top Golf near us from time to time. How did they decide on 18 holes? I find that when I finish 9 holes I still have some interest, but generally by the 12th hole or so I’m just looking for the beer cart lady. 🍺 I think 12 is a good number!

Hmmmm!!! Chile!

I think we can squeeze another 50 pages out of this. We are, after all, BILLS FANS!

He signed with the Titans.

I don’t look at it so much as organized fun as where are the Bills fans going to be? Where the Bills fans are, there will be fun. I don’t gamble, but that might be one of the safest bets ever! EDIT: I just looked at the website and it says opening July 2023, so it will be almost new, but with the kinks worked out hopefully .

The thanks/Beer emoji was the only acceptable option! 😂

I think you just may be on to something! I trust your judgement. 😋

Best wishes on the new location and adventure! It must very very exciting! I can’t help you as my only trip to Utah was flying into SLC then heading to Park City. I was surprised it was hard to find a place to have lunch in SLC, but of course we didn’t know where to look. We finally spotted a major hotel franchise and figured we could get food there. With teenage boys, food is a serious thing! This is more than 15 years ago so no telling what has changed. It felt like downtown was closed up. In Park City I was surprised by the liquor laws. Do they still have 3.2% beer? That’s what you could have in Ohio when I was in college if you were between 18-21. College kids looking for a buzz made a LOT of bathroom trips! In Park City there was a place I went for several nights (after the kids went to bed) for drinks. Maybe my 3rd or 4th night in there (Hey, I liked the place!) I was asked about my membership. Like Ghostbusters, if someone asks if you are a God, the answer is yes. My confusion made it apparent I was an outsider and a hassle commenced. I hope things have changed enough (or you have regulars who know the ropes) to make this less of “a thing.” Again, wishing you and the family all the best!
