  1. You compare Tyrod to the last QB who took us to the playoffs and quietly led us to an 11-5 record in so doing. Then you say he "will never be a difference maker in this league."
  2. You're not nitpicking at all. Russell Wilson didn't hit 300 yards in the regular season his first year as a starter, and he was criticized for that. He finally did it in the second round of the playoffs that year, which the Seahawks lost to Atlanta. Wilson did it only once this year, twice last year, and twice in 2013. That's six games with 300+ yards in four years (including playoffs) out of 71. Brees did it nine times this season -- including one for 400+ and one for 500+ -- and the Saints have a worse record than we do. I agree that it's a silly stat.
  3. You didn't even get THIS right! Show me where I wrote that Tyrod "won the game." Now you're saying you agreed with something I never said? Man, I'll give this one more try against my better judgment. Two of Tyrod's third-down conversions were key plays in extending drives on which the Bills scored. Here's my quote from that post. Again, show me where I said that Tyrod single-handedly won us the game, as you continue to insinuate I did: "While not flashy with passing numbers, TT did more than enough to keep drives alive and help us win. Go ahead and rip on him for the INT. Fact is, TT was money yesterday in more ways than most care to acknowledge or comprehend. He's not a franchise guy yet, but he's the closest thing we have and he'll get another chance to improve and prove it next year." As to your second point, I don't care that you looked at the whole year's 3rd-down conversion percentages because that's not at all a true measure of TT's personal performance for yesterday's game which was the subject of my post. You know this thread is about one game, right? Hint -- The word "day" in the title. If you wanted to go there, fine. But don't use an apples-to-oranges stat as a "rebuttal" in an apples-to-apples conversation. Maybe you did it intentionally because looking at all passing third-down conversion plays from yesterday sure as heck doesn't help you out. Better yet, apply your logic to the Pats-Cowboys game. Brady must not be a franchise quarterback because New England (the whole team) only converted 3/10 third down conversions -- right? Nothing else should be factored in because fridge said so; Brady SUCKS! (Yup, that's what it's like when someone claims you said something you didn't). I welcome all comers in debates, but stay on point, understand context and use correct attribution. Whatever the reason, you took my post as a direct attack on you. I take no responsibility -- and make no apologies -- for others' insecurities.
  4. Actually, you posted nothing of the sort. I posted three of TT's key third-down plays that helped the Bills win ONE game, namely against Dallas. The majority of my post was irrefutably Dallas-related, and how the Bills' game plan was a good fit for that particular opponent. For whatever reason you cited the TEAM's third-down conversion percentage for the game, and then the season. If you think blanket stats that include many third-down runs on a RB-first team are relevant to Tyrod's three good third-down plays from one game, then I have to question just how much you know about football. And when you have to twist other peoples' words to make your "point," you don't have one. You're not able to show me where I called Tyrod "spectacular," because I didn't. Insisting I did won't make it so. Look, attribute inaccurate/false quotes to me all you want. But understand that you look pretty desperate doing so, regardless of how many other TT haters you get to back you up.
  5. The only time I think of the Browns is when I see highlights of Gary Barnidge. We've seen heaps of "good" TEs excel through the years because of their elite quarterback -- team's other spectacular receivers -- strong running game -- or combination of the three. Then those TEs get rich contracts with other teams and stink up the joint (Julius Thomas, Jimmy Graham being the most recent examples). I genuinely can't recall a TE who has had this much success playing with dud QBs, WRs and RBs. He's been almost matchup-proof this year and for whatever reason, it bugs me that there's no logical reason why.
  6. Really thought he'd turn it around in Buffalo. I was very wrong on this one. I don't want him back.
  7. Please show me where I wrote that Tyrod is "blameless." You have the right to that opinion. Does the fact that I only listed three -- two of which led to touchdowns -- change the fact that the Bills won, and would not have won without those two touchdowns? Why didn't you include a hint of all the stupid penalties that have backed Tyrod up all season, negating so many of his positive plays? I did call them "key plays," so I think you're splitting hairs that I didn't list them all. Does ESPN show highlights of every play, or just the ones that mattered? Anyone who cares to check out his other plays is free to discover Google. Won't change the fact that we lose that game without two of those three plays, and lose the opportunity for more points with the third. The simple fact is that many Bills fans hate the guy for whatever reason, and point to a box score without watching the game. They clamor for a new QB but offer zero logical options. They refuse to give credit where it is due, and that is what is polarizing and divisive to those of us who are able to do that, regardless of who it is. C'mon, Fridge. You're better than this.
  8. If the Bills win, think the defense will hoist him on to their shoulders like they did Schwartz last year? Such treatment is one of the perks of being a "player's coach," right?
  9. Totally agree we'll take a QB, but I don't think it'll be in Round 2, either, unless we trade up (NO!) or reach. The teams drafting before us in Round 1 will of course get first crack before us in the second. IMO, with this running game and last year's defense, we go deep into the playoffs. With this running game and last year's defense -- and this year's penalties -- I'm not so sure we make it. We are in agreement that Rex killed something very special.
  10. Somewhere, Anna Burns Welker is seething because she's not the most talked-about NFLer's wife anymore.
  11. Dallas vs. the pass (2015) 2nd in the league in fewest TDs allowed. 5th in the league in fewest passing YPG allowed / fewest total passing yards allowed. Average of 35.6 yards allowed to opposing TEs. This includes three of the top 5 TEs in the league: Gronk, Olsen, Reed, who averaged 56.7 yards and 0 touchdowns. (Hopefully this sheds some light on why the Bills didn't throw down the middle, especially with Clay out). Yards and total TDs allowed against 4 of this year's top 5 QBs in the League (Cam, Rogers, Brady, Wilson) ... 222 YPG, 5 TDs total. Dallas vs. the run (2015) 29th in the league in fewest rushing TDs allowed (4th worst) 22nd in the league in fewest rushing YPG allowed / fewest total rushing yards allowed (11th worst) Tyrod's key 3rd down plays vs. Dallas First Quarter: 3rd and 6 from DAL 15: swing pass to Gillislee who was brought down at the 1, setting up Williams' score instead of a Carp FG attempt (we know how those have gone lately). Third Quarter: 3rd and 8 from DAL 44: short pass to Williams for 20 yards. Would have at least been a field goal try, but Williams coughed it up. Another example of stupid mistakes killing drives for TT, only this was worse than the usual hold or false start. Fourth Quarter: 3rd and 6 from the BUF 12; shotgun, heavy pressure -- avoids a sack from three defenders who all got their hands on him, then races past another for the first down. (Play of the game -- extended the drive, shedding 3:01 off the clock and setting up Gillislee for his TD). Why is it so hard to understand why the Bills did what they did yesterday? Four reasons: Some dare not give any credit to the coaches for doing some game planning. Some dare not give any credit to TT for sticking it to Dallas where they're weakest, or... Some dare not give TT credit for any reason whatsoever. Some just don't understand the difference between a box score and what actually happens in a game. Some just love to hate. A franchise QB is a smart guy who knows his abilities, the other team's weakness, and executes accordingly. And wins. While not flashy with passing numbers, TT did more than enough to keep drives alive and help us win. Go ahead and rip on him for the INT. Fact is, TT was money yesterday in more ways than most care to acknowledge or comprehend. He's not a franchise guy yet, but he's the closest thing we have and he'll get another chance to improve and prove it next year. Some here seem to think franchise QBs grow on trees. That tree is more like a wilted bush in 2016: The QB draft class is weak, and the "top" QBs will be gone to some combination of at least six QB-needy teams picking before the Bills. It's an even worse free agent QB class with Sam Bradford as the "marquee name." Get used to TT or be miserable. Those likely are your two options until 2017.
  12. Please tell us just how HORRIBLE TT was today because the box score doesn't show flashy stats. If you do, you'll prove that you know how to read box scores. You'll also prove you know little about football.
  13. I do, I do... I recall Jackson being decent in the passing game that day, but we still came up short. With 13 yards rushing, that will happen. Those who say these games are meaningless don't care about evaluating younger players or establishing team chemistry and consistency. No TDs for Tyrod or Sammy today, but some really nice passes and catches against the 6th-ranked defense against the pass. Set up our RBs nicely. TT was brilliant with his feet and knew he didn't have to force it with his arm. That first down in the fourth -- where he almost took a sack from three defenders at the goal line -- was amazing. Showed his poise, awareness and toughness. Classic example of why stat lines often are meaningless.
  14. Lost Spiller, Jackson and Brown ... Gained Shady, K. Williams and Gillislee. Got a lot younger and a lot better at RB.
  15. Reminds me of a story a couple years ago on ProFootballMock.com. Parody on a guy who sat all of his starters in fantasy to "rest them" before the playoffs.
  16. I'm starting him in all three fantasy Super Bowls. He should be benched for the rest of this meaningless game to set an example. That's what a good coach would do, but... Let me guess, stupid penalties aren't a direct reflection of a head coach.
  17. Plus, we've held Dez Bryant to 0 catches. Moore won't even throw his way. Our D is feared.
