  1. Ray Ray was picked up before Duke...no way!! Wonder what the masses will think about that!!!
  2. Dude you thought Duke should have a place on the team, but didn't think Zay was a lock lol. If Duke is ever able to disconnect the 100 pound weight he's dragging behind him he might have a chance. He's a 1980s-1990s type WR......the problem with that is it's 2019 and the game has totally changed.
  3. You can't teach speed either...or in this case lack of speed. My grandma can run faster than Duke. Here's his draft profile, the cliff notes are... he lacks speed, acceleration, stiff hips(Not what you want your WR to have), "Restricted, semi-strider off snap and slow into routes, won't slip many tackles, very little acceleration for separation out of breaks. And the biggest thing I've been saying..... Can't shake free underneath and will have to live off contested catches. Not much has changed since then, he's still pretty much the same player. WEAKNESSES Consistent discipline issues at Auburn. Suspended for Outback Bowl after 2014 season, missed practices for "personal reasons" this August and was kicked off of the team in October admitting he "made mistake after mistake" which lead to his dismissal. Stiff hips and below average athlete. Restricted, semi-strider off snap and slow into routes. Wont slip many tackles in the open field after the catch. Despite his size, blocking not a priority for him. Small hands for his size. Can't shake free underneath and will have to live off of contested catches. Very little acceleration for separation out of breaks. Could be forced into slot role only. Looked like he was going through the motions in 2015 before his dismissal. Scouts dont trust his personal or football character at all.
  4. This makes no sense at all. One is a proven player in the NFL and one hasn't made an NFL roster since first trying out back in 2016, Duke is already 26 years old, but runs like he's 56 years old. The number 1 WR in the CFL playing against who at CB, guys who couldn't sniff an NFL roster?? Duke averaged less than 9 yards a catch against CBs that aren't on NFL rosters today. When you finally get your chance and it's against lower talent, you better dominate or you're not going to make the 53 man roster. Duke looks like he's dragging a tire behind him when he runs. He probably would've been a good WR in the 80s & 90s though, but with the speed of the game today you better be able to run or be shifty and run really good routes.
  5. He did look slow, he looked slow in ALL the preseason games he played and couldn't create separation from players who aren't on NFL rosters today. I don't know how you can't see it, it right there in front of your face. There's a bunch of you getting hung up on 2 jump ball TDs and blocking, but don't see anything else. As is he will not be able to get into NFL games when the ball is in between the 20s, he's too damn slow. Beane isn't keeping a guy on the 53 who averaged less than 9 yards a catch against the #8, #9 #10 CBs , just to catch a couple jump balls this year. He had his chances and hasn't done enough against the lower competition he played. Here's a fact some of you are having a hard time acknowledging, he's got TE measurables(Besides weight) trying to play WR, he looked way too slow in every preseason game he was in to play WR. When that happens you don't deserve a spot on the team, there's a reason he was playing in the CFL & it hasn't only been him trying to get his personal life in order keeping him there.
  6. After going back and forth the last few days with the Duke fan boys and Zay haters I can tell you this will be more than shocking to many. Devastated might be a better word.?
  7. If they kept Duke, he would've only been used in the Redzone. I don't think McBeane wanted to keep a player on the 53 man roster just for that. JMO. I did think Shady had one more year in him though.
  8. But..but Zay was supposed to get traded or cut and Duke isn't on that list!!! What will the masses say now???
  9. Duke not making the team shouldn't have caught anyone off guard. He caught 2 nice jump ball TDs, but once you got away from jump balls he didn't do much. Averaged under 9 yards a catch against talent he should've been dominating. He's already 26 years old & way too slow to play WR in the NFL. IMO Sweeney has been pretty much a lock for several weeks now.
  10. He's too slow to play WR outside of the Redzone. He just doesn't have the speed. A switch to TE would do him good. I think he could dominate being a TE.
  11. You nailed it. I was getting beat up all week saying he was too slow to play WR and should be dominating the 3rd & 4th string guys he was playing. A switch to TE might do him good.
  12. I've been going back and forth with people all week, thinking he wasn't going to make it on the 53 man roster, he's too slow to play between the 20s. Put him on the PS and spend the year gaining ~25 pounds & convert him to a TE. He's got a big frame, strong hands & is a really good blocker. I think he would excel at TE once he knows the position.
  13. I guess Beane's thoughts were more aligned with mine. I really do hope we put him on the PS and he's ready to roll next year for us after being with an NFL team for a whole year. My bet is he just does have enough speed to play in between the 20s, which was by far my biggest complaint of Duke. I still say switching to TE would probably be in his best interest where top end WR speed isn't required.
  14. I know. I used it pretty much the same way a few weeks ago and found out for myself lol.
  15. Now I'm going to start this out by saying I believe he very well may make the roster, but once again this is a 26 year old, who's been out of college for several years, played 2 years in the CFL and the only things people can point to are a couple jump ball TDs and now two 9 yard receptions against scrubs. I defend Zay mainly because of all the Duke fan boys who will say he should make the team, but Zay shouldn't. What's Duke averaging per reception this preseason? A little under 9 yards a catch against mostly camp fodder guys. If he was good he would've dominated the guys he's been facing in the preseason. He's too sssssllllllooooowwwww to play between the 20s against starting CBs in this league, it's not the CFL. So at that point we're keeping him to catch a few jump balls in the Redzone. As I told Alpha earlier in the tread...Just my opinion, which I have the right to have, just like you have the right to yours.
  16. You're going to be amazed by this, but he's not my brother & I never watched him in college. My "undying defense of him", oh burn! Damn I'll admit you really got me there, good one Ace!! He's not going to make the team because Beane loves him but doesn't deserve to be on the team, it's not how Beane has shown he works. He's going to make the team because he should to be on this team despite the opinions of you, me or anyone else. I'm defending him because he's shown improvement in his 2 years in the league and I believe he's gotten a raw deal so far in his career. He's had Tyrod, Peterman, Tyrod, Peterman, a rookie Josh Allen, a washed up Anderson, Barkley(He wasn't even on the team when we picked him up) & a rookie Josh Allen(In that order) throwing him passes in his 2 years here. No WR in this league is going to excel with those QBs throwing him the rock. You guaranteeing Zay is on a short leash is still priceless, I don't care what anyone says, like you have a say in the matter.??
  17. I think Ray Ray will be eligible for the practice squad and could very well end up there. Ok you guarantee he doesn't have a long leash. That's about as meaningful as me saying I'm the President of the United States. Did I say it, sure. Is there any truth to it, nope.
  18. Besides Kaepernick having thrown for over 12,000 yards, 72 TDs, rushing for another 2,300 yards and leading his team to a Super Bowl vs Jackson struggling badly in preseason......umm sure why not.
  19. In addition to that, there was also a personal foul for tackling the little wuss on his injured thumb.?
  20. Great breakdown!! Something I probably would never have time to do, but I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned here.
  21. Though I spent the entire day having fun with all of Duke's fan boys in here, I believe he's going to make the team as the #6 or #7 WR. Obviously that means I think they will keep 7 WRs.
  22. He may have been, I'm not sure, but he did play special teams in the beginning of the game for sure.
  23. Foster played special teams in the beginning. I believe he made the tackle on the first punt. Zay was never not safe, I still don't get this thinking. There's nothing anyone can point to that showed there was even a question of him making the roster.
  24. I believe both were already on the 53 man roster prior to the game. JMO.
  25. Though it doesn't mean anything towards the regular season, great comeback tonight!!! It was great watching the whole team being excited as a little kid at the end. The chemistry & camaraderie McDermott & Beane have built with the players is, in my opinion, unparalleled in pro sports. I believe we are going to be pretty darn good this year and it's not going to be because of individual play. This team is greater than the sum of it's parts.
