  1. The most important thing a returner does it catch the ball. My HS coach taught me that and it makes sense. Don't catch it and its hidden yards lost, not to mention fumbling the catch which is job removal. He is excellent at it and offers a threat on the return. The reason he runs it out is because of the "chance" he breaks it for the big one. Don't try it, never get it. I see no big problem as our average starting position, last I checked, was among the leaders.
  2. You usually tend towards this
  3. He is second in sacks but leads our team in hurries, pressures and knock downs.
  4. I'm glad Charlie Sheen was in my foxhole during Platoon and not you I love our prospects against a third string QB like Haskins, Allen(Den) and Hodges.
  5. The pink Ernie phone is used in crisis situations. "Hey Ernie get down to the visitors lockerroom and put the over the counter laxative in the water at halftime!"
  6. Ernie ***** Adams is BB "dirty tricks" man. He's like a political operative from Watergate era.
  7. This game is Denver part 2 except its on the road. Maybe something like 17-9 Bills.
  8. Are you sure that you're not cheering for this to happen, because I'm not sure based on most of your posts.
  9. Enjoyed the movie, story never gets old, Deniro looked old playing the part though. Otherwise, worth the watch.
  10. Win anyway this week, 13-9 works. Next week I want he Pats curb stomped like 27-9. Against the Jets at home 38-9 would be good.
  11. Thats an overly simplistic view of why they do these things. They are systemic and procedural in how they approach opponents. Every week is about gaining the edge now, next week, next month, next year. I can't fault that. What I can fault is setting out to systematically do "whatever" it takes to gain that edge. All NFL teams are trying to gain an edge, and they all have smart people working for them. I don't believe that NE gains the edge whenever they need it over all these teams, in a 20 year period, because they focus on the right things and others don't. They are not so much smarter than everyone else, especially in the FA era. You can be better than people for a short period, in the long run to keep dominating over years is fishy to say the least. Too many scandals going back to the beginning.
  12. Which makes the game plan from Sunday all that absurd. Wouldn't you think getting him some easy completions early would be a thing that Daboll would do.
  13. Let them challenge anything, anytime, with the stipulation its a ten yard penalty if you're wrong.
  14. I've said it before, the Patriots dynasty is the worst thing ever to happen to NFL. Makes Hornung and Karras betting a few bucks on games look like childs play. Someday this 20 year period of the Pats dynasty will be looked back on worse than the Steroid ERA in baseball.
  15. Makes it pretty hard to throw for 300 yards doesn't it? I mean in those games both QBs are throwing for about 175 on average and no one has come close to even 200 yds.
  16. I wasn't sure where to put this, so I guess this as good as any. Someone mentioned the wind being a huge factor at New Era this season, I did a little stats for dummies. In Bills home games the QBs (both teams) 359.0ypg/59.1apg for an average of 6.07/att. While in Bills road games, again both QBs, 500.5ypg/72.8apg 6.87/att. A pretty significant drop in effectiveness about 12% for both teams QBs at New Era this season. Interestingly, if you limit it to15 mph winds or greater (the last 4 home games), it plummets to 300.8ypg/53.5apg and 5.62/att and a whopping 16% drop in QB effectiveness. Those are the only 4 games with those conditions(15mph+ winds) all season. Does this mean anything,? Not a huge sample and I'm sure looking at other seasons would help massage the data. It does make sense to the eye, especially when you consider the QBs on both teams are impacted. And, winds at New Era can be pretty tricky to navigate with a pass. I checked Heinz field this season and was surprised to see mimimal wind impact, usually only a few (3-7mph).
  17. I think the only difference between these teams should be and is Allen vs. Hodges. Now I hope it is.
  18. So does this mean they'll be filming part 2 of the documentary in Pittsburgh Sunday Night? If I had to guess I'd venture a big, fat YES!
  19. I'm an Allen guy too and gave him a D+ for his performance yesterday. Now that most of us have established he was poor yesterday, let's look at the elephant in the room. All the things supporting the QB, not excuses, but things that need to be better. My big thing is the game plan sucked. Last week, before the game I went back and researched all the plays against the Ravens defense leading up to it. It was clear and obvious that running up the middle was a losing proposition and throwing deep passes was tough. I just looked at the log for yesterday's game, first 2 series, 2 runs up the middle-nothing, 3 longish passes results in a sack and 2 incompletions, 1 run over the right tackle (successful) for 5 yards. This continues for most of the half, then late in the half we start to see changes, more short stuff and edge runs. Daboll switched for the most part in the second half. Of course the die was cast at that point, behind and started getting drops more. I'm baffled that we came out and did the exact opposite of what we should have and has worked for Josh. Daboll outhought himself this time.
  20. Like the way he wiggles and makes them miss. Having said that, watching the game yesterday it appeared like Wink Martindale was not worried about him stopping many blitzers. As a matter of fact, he got blown up a few times, expect more of it.
  21. I think you can try that once, and not on third down, and remember the downside is not only missing the opportunity, but JA is removed from the formula that has been successful.
