When do the phantom calls against us stop??
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were calls at the wrong times that definitely were disputable. Yes there were plays that the Bills didn't make that piss me off too. However, to deny that calls against you at the wrong time have no impact is just wrong -they do. Nothing happens in a vacuum and one thing builds of another. Bottom line is that you have no control over the calls. That doesn't mean they don't make calls at the wrong times that impact the direction of the game. We are 5-4 and it sucks. We were the better team at the Line of Scrimmage today and lost. -

Nice Call by the OP! When you consider he was 245 pounds at a time when lineman were not much bigger, and that DBs didn't catch him from behind i.e. the Monday Night 35-31 win over the Dolphins, he was perhaps the greatest pure power back ever IMHO. -

Nice thread! I think it fairly accurately represents team strength as a quick and dirty proxy. -
Good luck trading Mike Williams. If there are any takers I'd be shocked.

Announcers for Bills/Jets game

I don't find Gannon and the guy he works with to be anything great. It was pretty obvious they were trying to keep the audience interested. -
Fire Hackett

I agree with you sentiments. As for changes for going forward, I hope during the bye week that Marrone makes some changes. Perhaps he "involves" other people on the staff to help the "overburdened" Hackett. This is the only measure, along with perhaps an acquisition on the O-line, that I could reasonably see during the season. -
Check This! Although I get them trying to be objective. Still is awkward.

Borders on the ludicrous how bad the so-called experts are in sports. The problem is they aren't experts, they are "names". In many cases they are guys who really have little perspective. Take someone like Michael Irvin, he was treated like a superstar all throughout college, the pros and post career. He doesn't, cannot give the kind of insights that someone who worked his way through the game can. He is being paid for his name!

Orton has been incredible considering the circumstances. He is plenty good enough to go the playoffs with. -

Am I the only one who thinks the Bills are winning in spite of the coaching? Talented team but so poorly coached on the offensive side that it impacts the whole team. I'm wondering whether a lot of the problems with the running game and O-line aren't directly related to the coaching on that side of the ball. -

From what I remember, Sammy had a -2.5 for penalties. Must be the phantom call against the Pats. Take it with a grain of salt. I look at it for fun, and thats what it is. -
Week 8 Predictions: Bills @ Jets
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Bills have the emotional edge because they are underdogs to a 1-6 team in the division. If Jets were dogs I might feel differently. If Orton plays error free, which I think is coming and Hackett continues to evolve the passing game with Sammy thats a huge plus. Bills defense destroyed them last game in Buffalo-34-7 in third. Some people are putting a lot on the Rex Ryan is a wizard and will beat Bills. I disagree, Bills win 24-10 by winning the turnover battle over Geno and the Jets. 5 and 3 into the bye week, mark it down. -
The "experts" take - Bills at NYets

All I know is the last time we played them(as 2 point underdogs at home), the game was over by early third quarter when we lead 34-7! -

Unlike some on here I don't see Rex Ryan as some kind of coaching wizard. His teams lacks talent everywhere except the Defensive front. If he can overcome the Bills advantages at the skill positions, QB, secondary and the Bills D-front being at least as good as his-more power to him. Bills Win this one because they are better, Orton plays clean, D forces turnovers, Sammy and Woods come up big early in the game. Jets can't play come from behind and turn the ball over. We will throw early and often and win 24-10. -
Yeah i get Welker has played for a long time successfully and Hogan is just getting started. The statement made was he may have potential. Im just curious after watching Hogan for the first time and having been impressed. I know its a lot to ask him to have a Welker type career. But, he seems to have a lot of potential.

Really? not doubting your sources, but mind sharing your reasoning/evidence?

This is right! And good coaching should be able to correct these things!

I watched the game yesterday with my son and we both pissed and moaned during the game about the coaching staff, especially the offensive line coach and coordinator. We were disturbed at the lack of discipline or lack of improvement in that regard, and that's on the coach too. But, when they made that comeback at the end, we couldn't have been more excited to happy to see us win. Watching the brilliamce of Sammy Watkins can be fun. It was exciting. I ask any of the embarrassed supposed Bills Fans, would you have rather lost yesterday? That win could make the difference in the end. I also don't get all the Orton hate. It is almost like a win with Orton is no good for some people. The win needs to come from a supposed franchise QB drafted in the first round, or it is isn't good enough. LMFAO

By the way, Since Orton has taken over the Bills have been throwing the ball down field much more. This is backed up by the Air Yards stats. I looked it up and I forget the exact breakdown, but Manuel was getting 67% of his yards after the catch, and Orton is more in the range of getting 67% of his yards through the air!
