    WIth the roster last year, our ceiling was exactly what happened. A first round exit. Look if you want to be stuck in the mud another 15 years, maybe we should go with your line of thinking. Tweak a roster that was barely playoff material just so we can win 9 games this year. Personally, I'm willing to be patient.

    They are resetting bad contacts and getting rid of problem child players. It was inevitable they'd be a down year. We've had a solid string of 20 in a row or so.

    For the kid to be in the situation he has been forced into this year, he played really well. I was very impressed and honestly think we've FINALLY got our guy.

    After that 1st half yesterday, I was a little upset. If we are going to loose a lot of games, fine. I do hope we can at least not lose by 30 every game. I'm encouraged greatly by that second half when McDermott took the defensive reigns. I suspect we might see a change in coaching sometime this year on he defensive end.

    This is exactly what I believe the staff wanted all along. They know next year, with all the cap space, we'll be able to greatly improve our offensive line and WR's. Doing this will give Josh the tools he needs to succeed. This year was always going to be a down year and I'm ok with that. I like what they are trying to accomplish.

    Shaq, Darby and Dareus weren't McDermotts picks if I recall correctly.

    Signed off on what? Correcting a bad situation? Thats exactly what they are attempting to do. We'll have quite a bit of money after this year. It also looks like we have several solid pieces on defense and a potential elite QB under control for several years. The offensive line and WR's definitely need an overhaul. Guess what the money will be used for?

    Falling on the football does seem to be a skill we just do not have.

    Have either of those guys played for another NFL team since they retired? If you say "it seems like they wanted to play", you'd think they'd be on an NFL roster at this point.

    My point is the assumption, and thats exactly what it is, that his primary focus is on high character guys is not really backed by much more than a few comments here and there.

    I was kind of happy to hear Steve Beuerlein kind of taking up for the Bills a bit during the broadcast myself.

    If signing Vontae Davis is a lol to you ( character issues I take it ), then doesn't that go against the notion that he's "too invested in character" argument?

    I think your issue is more with religion than McDermott.

    I'd have to say Doug is better currently, but the McDermott has a higher ceiling.

    I love how people know exactly how good of a a coach McDermott is going to be after a year. Why aren't you guys on the scout team or on a coaching staff somewhere?

    And I'm probably wrong but, wasn't the perception from some that he made good early reads and was pretty accurate? The thing that done him in is arm strength. Even if he sees the play correctly he can't get the ball to the spot fast enough.
