Well, Dennison with Kubiak liked play action passing and roll outs/bootlegs. I think Tyrod is perfectly suited for those things. Rex Ryan/Greg Roman Bills ran a West Coast passing offense too ya know - derived from Bill Walsh era.....Roman just liked to run the ball more than any other offensive coordinator. I expect Dennison to throw more often for sure, but he is near middle of the road in number of pass attempts and middle of the road in run attempts. The Bills offense should be much more balanced - not necessarily pass happy.

I don't think he looked "bad" either year as a football player. I think he looked like an average NFL QB most of the time mixed in with spurts of elite talent both with his arm and obviously with his legs. And I know that when he is playing QB for the Bills and the team is healthy, the Bills have 3 major offensive weapons - Watkins, McCoy and Taylor. With any other QB this team has had here since Taylor has been here and for some time before him - you would have had one less weapon. By weapon I mean a guy who opponents are most afraid of (scoring a touchdown or making an otherwise huge play) on any given play no matter what down or distance and no matter where he is on the field. And if this coaching staff can get the best out of Tyrod and the rest of the offense, that offense has the potential to be dominant in the NFL - so much so that at times defenders would be looking around wondering WTF? is happening and WTF just happened as they get steamrolled for another touchdown both via the ground and the air in under 2 minutes. That is my hope. Is it realistic? Probably not. Still my hope. Can't name another available Qb who would give me that kind of optimism on this team. If the coaches don't get very good performance from Taylor for any reason, then I expect them to bring in yet another QB in the draft next year and try to build a dominant offense with them. Yes. I could see the Bills getting off to a slow start this year. Then half way through the season the coach decides to throw in the backup QB and tank the rest of the way to get that draft pick. If Peterman starts winning some games and looks like he could be a franchise guy - well then maybe it influences their decision enough to avoid drafting a QB early or at all. Then this coach's career in Buffalo lives or dies with Peterman. I just want a dominant offense again. (Defense too of course) I think the potential is there with this offensive squad if the coaches are the right coaches for the job. We shall see. I think it is very possible that the coaches do a ton of quick passes and severely under-utilize Tyrod's special ability to extend passing plays into home run plays. I hope we see lots of plays that are designed to have the passer hold the ball for more than 3 seconds and throw a home run. Don't know. Just guessing.

Very unlikely. It is easy for them to move on from Taylor if they are uncertain about whether or not he is the best choice going forward after this year. The new coach isn't going to bet his career here on a QB he isn't confident in. And in order to be confident in Tyrod, Tyrod will need to play better than he did last year. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. The bigger risk in not drafting a QB is if one of the existing backups gets to play 1/2 a season or more and he plays reasonably well but not stellar. That could push them to move on from Tyrod and NOT draft another QB next year. Then, yes you could very easily wind up in QB purgatory. Don't think it will be with Tyrod though. They will either have full confidence in him because of his great play this year or they will draft a guy. You are WAY over thinking things though if you are worried about Tyrod being here this year based on your imaginary scenario next year.

He is definitely betting on himself. If he is right he will hit a huge payday for that bet. Could be a payday with the Bills or with somebody else depending on factors. If he doesn't play well or if the rest of the team sucks bad enough even though he plays well, then his NFL career may have peaked. Hard not to like a guy who bets on himself with big stakes. He is a confident competitor and has every reason to be.

Like you said before, it is about guaranteed money because the players can count on that money going into their pockets. Ask former players - like Donald Jones on the John Murhpy show for example - he will say it is mostly about guaranteed money. They want money that teams can't back out of for any reason. Your posts have been excellent in this thread. Very clear and well written. Hard to find fault with most of what you said. Good work sir!

The Crying Game: Consolidated thread for the downers
PolishDave replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People drive their own misery largely by dwelling on the 17 years without a playoff appearance stat. It is pure foolishness to do that to yourself. You're better off trying to push that into the back of your mind and focus on this season and this most recent team. You can't change the past. You do have a lot of control about your present and future though. May as well look forward and make plans for things to be better. -
Sorry dude.. No team makes an offer of $15.5 million for a guy they don't have any faith in. You have that backwards. They had more faith in him than any other option available. So much faith in fact that they offered him $15.5 big ones to please, please, please come play for the Bills. He said sure I'll do it for $15 million. I honestly don't know how you guys think this **** up. You are dead wrong.

PFF: Tyrod Taylor #2 starting QB in AFCE
PolishDave replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did anyone account for the fact that Taylor only played 15 games. He threw 3 touchdowns in the first Jet's matchup and didn't get a chance to play in the last one. Seems like that should factor in there somewhere. -

Most rushing yards by a back in NFL = Elliot at 1,631 Most passing yards by a QB = Brees at 5,208 If you add up all the rushing yards for the top ten yardage rushing teams it equals = 20,451 If you add up all the passing yards for the top ten yardage passing teams it equals = 43,926 In other words one rushing yard is the equivalent of more than 2 passing yards NFL wide. Comparing rushers to passers is not a 1:1 ratio league wide. If you do so, your results are automatically going to be skewed against a rusher every time regardless of who that rusher is. On passing plays you are giving credit to the QB for every yard gained by receivers running with the ball as well as every yard the pass actually goes through the air. It is like 2 players playing against 1. And the receivers running with the ball very often times are already passed the line of scrimmage where there are far fewer defenders. -

And it is also blatantly apparent that you know absolutely nothing about Greg Roman or his coaching history. Do some research. You might change your mind about things. -

I like how you blame Tyrod for Greg Roman's offensive design. You really don't know much about football. Do you... -
Would you, right now, trade TT for Deshaun Watson?
PolishDave replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
lol.... Guys like you are too funny. You try your hardest to find a stat that makes Tyrod look really bad. And you can't. So you pick something like ranking quarterbacks by number of passing attempts. (as if that means anything) On your chart, Tyrod Taylor is ranked higher than Tom fricken Brady dude. Your take is a complete joke. Mid 20's. -
No doubt there are at least a handful of people who absolutely fear that. These are generally the type of people who will be miserable no matter what. More people complain about Tyrod than Jordan Mills. That should tell you something about their football IQ.

Another disgruntled fan who is mad because our QB is not Tom Brady. Prepare yourself for a lifetime of disappointment friend. More misery in your future. -

So many Tyrod haters. Yet every argument against the guy is destroyed when you just look the facts. Keep trying. It is entertaining as hell. -
17 members of Bills scouting staff fired.
PolishDave replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not the same thing dude. Coaches and players get paid millions in salary. They can work a few years and be set for life if they are smart with their money. Some of the other guys in the office earn blue collar wages. That is the main difference. Kirby has worked there. So I am guessing he knows examples of the guys who got canned. Don't be a dick about it. -

Here is an idea - probably worthless idea - but fun nonetheless Create a public record for wannabe scouts where they can publish their player reports and player rankings so that they are recorded over time. After a number of years, it will be evident who the best scouts are. I have no idea how the teams go about finding new scouts and evaluating them. Seems like it would be extremely challenging to find the best guys. They have to know it is a huge risk when they get into that line of work. Like a politician. You could be out of a job any year. I can't imagine guys actually expecting to be able to keep a job with the same team for decades - especially not a team like Buffalo who has been rotating in new General Managers as often as they have. -

They may have got very nice severance packages too (don't know but I assume they got severance) - which makes the loss of a job much more palatable. On another note....I wonder how hard it is to replace scouts in the NFL - I mean replace them with higher performing scouts. Seems like that might be a challenge and could set this team back. -

Breaking news from Denver... Chad Kelly involved in altercation with John Elway. Apparently one of the wrinkles on John's face was a little crooked. Chad took that as a sign of disrespect towards him or some other member of his family. Chad made a fist and some kind of weird grunting noise, then started chanting "Come at me bro.....come at me BRO!" A somewhat stunned Elway immediately knocked him out with a right hook. Due to a broken jaw/face, Kelly expects to be released from the team prior to training camp.

Tyrod will not be handed starting Job
PolishDave replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bledsoe lost his starting job because of injury - not because Brady was so good in practice that Belichick decided to promote him to starter. Brady didn't prove himself until he was forced into the starting role. If it weren't for that injury, nobody knows how Brady's career ultimately would have turned out. For all we know he may have been discovered very late in his career - like Rich Gannon. -

Prerhaps. Or Cardale. One of them will go more than likely unless new rookie really stinks it up.
