Well said. I hope that even once the guy is done with football, he remains in the public eye and continues to serve as a role model for kids. This world/country needs more role models like Tyrod Taylor. Never hear anything bad about the guy character wise. You can tell he had great parents and made good choices in life for the most part. I am sure he isn't perfect as nobody is, but he is pretty damn inspiring the way he pushes through and overcomes every attempt to derail his chosen career path.

Most likely TANK theory I've heard thus far...
PolishDave replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem I have is with your ridiculous exaggeration that by tanking the Bills will be able to fill their roster with 1st and second round picks. The only significant positive in tanking is a higher first round pick. You aren't filling the team with 1st and second rounders regardless of how hard you tank. Your reason for tanking is based on something that is completely imaginary. It is entirely illogical. -
Question relating to real estate law:

Have you ever witnessed a major crime in person?
PolishDave replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I am willing to bet that many of the people who read this thread who were as close as a person can get to a major crime aren't going to talk about it in public on this forum. I have enjoyed the stories people have already reported on here though. Dude, you seriously needed to get even with those bastards somehow. Probably too late now after too many years. But man, that was a below the belt joke to pull. Holy Jesus. -
Awesome story! Thank you for donating a small part of your life to improve the life of someone you owed nothing to who probably benefited immensely from your friendship/guidance. Says a lot about your character. Good on you dog!

Most likely TANK theory I've heard thus far...
PolishDave replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? How many extra 1st and second round draft picks do you get for tanking compared to if you don't tank? You aren't filling the roster with 1st and second round picks if you tank this year. Completely illogical reasoning dude. -
I agree. Or just lock the thread and paste a link to the right thread instead of saying "Try using the search function". They may as well replace that "Try using the search function" phrase with a photo of that Peter Pan guy. Have you ever tried searching for something and have it return zero results only to discover the very thing you just searched for is a recent topic that is in the top ten threads listed on the main landing page of the stadium wall? I have.

Here is an example: In my last response I typed the phrase " the search function on this site absolutely sucks " Is it unreasonable for a user to expect to be able to do a search using the friggin "SEARCH" function on the site and find the thread/post where that exact phrase is embedded? It should return it immediately with the closest match at the top of the search list. That type of feature has been available to websites for like 20 years or so. Maybe this search feature on this site will do that, but if it is capable of doing that, it is certainly not intuitively obvious how it works. I can honestly say that every single time I have tried using the search feature on this site it has failed me and been utterly and completely useless. I don't want to sound whinny. Not my intention. In all honestly I don't care. The only time I get irked is when I see the mods post an automated "try using the search function" B.S. to some noob poster who double posts about something being talked about elsewhere. I roll my eyes and chuckle - like how about providing a search function that works if you expect people to use it. If you can't provide the feature then don't complain to people on here when topics/conversations get repeated in more than one place. The real irony here - Now that I posted this opinion about the search function inside of an Aaron Williams thread - my statement about the search function will be buried on this site never to be found again by the end of the day whenever this post gets about 2 pages deep on here. Nobody will ever read it again and if they search for it by remembering the words I used - they won't be able to find it.

Am I the only person on here who thinks that the search function on this site absolutely sucks? I have tried using it plenty of times in the past - searching for things that I know are on here - and still couldn't find them using it. I had to manually dig through historical posts looking for what I wanted wasting more time than it was usually worth. If mods want people to use it more, I say improve the damn thing so it actually works well. A suggestion: Try this perhaps. The search function should allow you to search for custom phrases and snippets anywhere in any thread on the forum (or at least a majority of the). If your search function doesn't allow that - then it sucks - like really, really, really sucks. One situation I can think of recently : I remember someone making a claim about a player or a scenario in a thread that wasn't directly related to that thread topic but it was very interesting commentary nonetheless. A few days later I come back looking for that thread so that I can add to that discussion - and can't find it. Can't remember the topic of the original thread therefore - can't find it on this site. But the part that sticks in my memory is the approximate wording that person used when making his claim. If that was searchable by anything resembling normal search engine standards, then it would take about one minute or less to find it. Instead , on this site you have to dig through page after page on thread after thread trying to find that because of the entirely useless search function in the upper right hand corner. Fixing/Improving it would upgrade the quality of the site a lot in my opinion.

Public Financing of Stadiums
PolishDave replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nonsense. Completely disagree. And I have been to numerous other stadiums in the NFL including new ones, including domes. Some have better seating. But as far as football experience goes, Buffalo is the top or damn close. Atmosphere in Buffalo is way more energetic than most too. As long as the seat is comfortable, it is easy to get food/beer and take a leak, what else really matters? The stadium in Orchard Park has all those things. Complete waste to spend taxpayer money on a new one. If the Pegulas want to drive a fancier car, they should buy it themselves. The existing car is still running great and just got a new coat of paint. Run it. Run it till the wheels fall off. -
Public Financing of Stadiums
PolishDave replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are at least 4 ancient Roman Ampitheaters still being used today. It is entirely reasonable to expect a well built building to last hundreds of years. Obviously it will need to be maintained to remain safe for public use, but a rebuild is certainly not necessary. Totally agree. It is absolutely stupid for taxpayers to pay for a new stadium when there is already a perfectly functional (and quite nice) stadium that serves the needs of the community in Orchard Park right now. Building a new one would be a completely unnecessary waste of money. If the Pegulas are dead set on building a new stadium in ten years or whatever, they should put systems in place right now to being raising the money from the private sector and fan base. There are many ways they could do so if they were creative enough. Then wait to build the stadium until they have raised all of the required money. -
Public Financing of Stadiums
PolishDave replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if one owner decided to fund a new stadium entirely by himself - I don't see that changing the tradition across the rest of the teams in the NFL. Face it, even rich people like government handouts as long as their government is handing them the money. It is incredibly hard to turn down free money when the amount of free money being offered is in the "millions" of dollars category. -
Public Financing of Stadiums
PolishDave replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There should be zero taxpayer funding of any of these stadiums at all. Taxpayers can pay for the roads and infrastructure to get to the stadium property. But otherwise it should be funded directly from the fans and teams. It's damn near impossible to change though. It would have to be changed at the Federal level somehow to level the playing field and take away city/state governments' abilities to compete for teams with taxpayer dollars. I don't see it changing. -
If you call that evidence, I suggest you are very gullible. That guy's analysis is completely flawed as it does not account for the fact that many teams do not try to exploit the other team's mistakes - for example - not every coach tries to throw for a touchdown immediately following an interception. And even the coaches who do it some times, don't necessarily do it every time. And some coaches almost never do it (ex: most - if not all? - of the Bills coaches over the last 15 years). You can't measure it accurately if you don't account for that. And that guy didn't account for that at all. He even admitted that he neglected to account for some momentum changing situations. In other words his math is complete and total bunk. It is entirely useless.
-
I liked your posts until you crapped on "momentum". It is real. Anyone who doesn't think so probably never played competitive sports. The word "momentum" can be substituted for "mental mindset" or "confidence" and yes it absolutely matters. Momentum is the reason why an offense can step on the gas and score a touchdown quickly after the other team makes a mistake. (at least the good teams who exploit it - a.k.a - the Patriots) It really does exist. If a coach doesn't believe in it and doesn't exploit it, then he is leaving plays on the field that likely could have been made. It is one of the finer things about sports that can help separate winners from wannabe's.

Shouldn't heavy metal band members be predisposed to this from all the head banging too?

NFLPA to focus on marijuana for therapeutic reason
PolishDave replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. And I honestly don't know how you fix it. It happens in families even with good parents. Scary stuff. Sad stuff. Funny how high cannabis consumption and "being a loser" so often go hand in hand though. Causation? Perhaps not? Correlation. Definitely common. -
I would be totally okay with them cutting him too early and watching him win a Superbowl somewhere else. Well not totally okay. But I would laugh at the mighty infallible Patriots for effing that one up. Can't wait. Please let it happen. Even if it was with the Jets or Miami. Okay.. Now I am losing it.

NFLPA to focus on marijuana for therapeutic reason
PolishDave replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can only imagine how strong some of the stuff is you can get in Colorado or California these days. It has to be among the best of the best unless the state governments regulate how good the weed can be. One thing about Americans - when we decide to do something for ourselves - we generally end up getting really damn good at it. I have little doubt that, if they already aren't doing it, growers in California and other parts of the US will soon be producing the best of the best ganja in the world. And we are miles ahead of most of the rest of the world in terms of agricultural production knowledge. Kids smoking that stuff everyday as teenagers are going to be bozos by the time they are 30. Is this why kids live with their parents so long these days? When you smoke a lot of weed, especially good weed, the normal priorities of supporting yourself and getting ahead in life start to take a back seat. -

PolishDave replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. No doubt. You also have to know what you are smoking. With booze, even if you are drinking moonshine straight off the still, you can only get so much alcohol in it - thereby limiting how hammered you can get if you limit your intake. Different types of weed, depending on what type it is and where it came from can get you retarded stoned on very little. And some weed takes longer to feel the buzz from. So you might think it is weak after you smoked a bowl - only to find out it creeps up on you after you smoked a second bowl and whammo - you sir are now a 6 year old giggling uncontrollably on silly farts. Your mouth is wide open as if you are laughing your ass off - yet nobody can hear a sound come out of your mouth. All you do is sit and point at people with your mouth wide open like some kind of mentally handicapped tweeker. Someone tells you how silly you look and it just takes the intensity of your wasted-ness up another notch - Bam! A guy drinking Everclear will still know about how much he can consume before getting tipsy and/or shitfaced - unless he has never had it before. -

Totally depends on the scenario. You absolutely can be too stoned to operate a motor vehicle. (Like way, way, way too life is a giant slide show happening one second at a time stoned) Anyone who doesn't think so hasn't experienced truly premium grade junk. And you don't need to smoke much to get that high. Couple deep hits off a bong will do. The person who has only dabbled in smoking grass a couple dozen times in their life has probably never experienced it. -
