  1. You are addicted to drama and overly emotional. No reason to be. It is just a discussion. Rex certainly isn't my "boy" as you put it. I already stated I have no affinity for Rex. Glad he's gone. I don't think he is a great coach. I think Rex is an average coach. His record and actions both show that. You are calling this year's coaching better when there is zero evidence of that. The only proof we have is the two preseason games. And in those games there were some bad signs. 1) punting from inside opponents 40 & 2) ridiculous number of penalties. But your crystal ball tells you that McDermott is an above average coach anyway even though there is literally zero evidence to support it. McDermott might prove himself to be a better coach. I hope he does. I hope he becomes the greatest coach the NFL has ever seen while coaching Buffalo. All I am saying is that stating with certainty that he is better right now - is complete and total B.S. - and totally biased homerism. McDermott has to prove it first. So far he has not proven he is better at all (at least not as an NFL coach). And yes I do think the Bills will be worse this year than last -better run defense - worse pass defense - worse running and passing offense. But that is primarily because of personnel - not coaching. I don't know if the coaching is going to be better or not. Neither do you. That's why I called you out on it.
  2. I don't think he lied dude. I think he conveniently neglected to mention that his situation in Buffalo was at least PART of his decision to retire. There is a difference between lying and withholding additional details. And I think he knows that he has absolutely nothing to gain at all by mentioning the situation in Buffalo. The only thing it does is cause certain people (Beane & McDermott) unnecessary grief. And that is totally avoidable by simply not mentioning it at all. Nobody has anything to gain by Bolding mentioning anything at all about the Buffalo Bills. That's all. I have absolutely nothing against the guy. I don't know him personally. It is entirely possible I am completely wrong and that the receiver/offense situation in Buffalo had absolutely ZERO to do with his decision (I don't believe that for a second). But, If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, I am calling it a duck. You and everyone else are free to disagree. It's just an opinion from a guy who doesn't know him personally.
  3. Isn't it kind of funny how Incognito went from being perceived as a dirtbag dude out of the NFL that nobody wants to being one of the Bills' fans favorite players? He can thank Rex Ryan for that I think. Might be one of the only good things Rex did.
  4. Me too. After all, who wants a team full of top talent in the league? That could not possibly lead to wins. Trade a guy who is a top player at his position hoping you can draft another guy who might/possibly/if you are lucky be as good at his position as that guy was. Then what are you going to do if you do hit on the draft? Are you going to ditch the guy when its time to pay him and they try to draft another guy as good as him again? I can't help but think that is the exact opposite approach you should be taking. I wonder how many top players in the NFL they really think they are going to get in the draft over the next 2 years. Must be pretty confident in themselves. I'll believe it when I see it.
  5. Only a couple ways I can fathom this being possible. 1) Kizer lights on fire early in the season having exceptional QB rating and prowess in the pocket leading the Browns to easily beat opponents. Then he gets a season ending injury in like game 4 or 5. 2) There ends up being so much parity in the league this year that the worst team in the NFL has as many as 4 or 5 wins. Because if Kizer shows he is the guy and he doesn't get hurt, it is otherwise pretty much unfathomable how they could be bad enough to earn the dead last spot in the league.
  6. Does Kiko count? Yo Adrian!
  7. They've got some players on their roster. But, they still have to play as a team. They didn't do that last year. And until they do, I don't understand how anyone would rather be them. They certainly haven't been fun to watch unless you were rooting against them. The Browns won't suck as bad as last year - hard to go all year and win only one game. I still expect the Bills to be better than Cleveland this year though.
  8. When the regular season hits (actually probably after the Jets game), this defense is not going to look anywhere near as good as it does in preseason (in my opinion). I expect the wheels to come off in the secondary. The defense will give up numerous big plays in the secondary. Opponents short passing games are going to have plenty of YAC with Preston Brown playing MLB. The run defense will be way better than it was. They still won't be holding teams to under 100 yards rushing though simply because opponents will be running the ball late in games a lot when they are up by 2 scores. I make this prediction based on the assumption that the offense will mostly suck. I suspect the Bills will run, run, pass, punt very often. I suspect Dennison will refuse to stretch the field. The run game will suffer as a result. The pass game will become a dumpster fire. And the defense although improved from last year will be on the field way too much of the game and surrender numerous yards because of it. That will land them in the bottom 1/3 of the league in terms of total yards.
  9. Your idea is better than the existing scenario. I would suggest just eliminating all preseason, all scrimmage and just start the damn season. Extend the season by increasing the number of regular season games to make up for lost revenue. Doing that would increase the value of the backup positions and perhaps bring even more parity to the league.
  10. Everybody is so focused on where the Bills are going to draft next year. The real issue and root of the problem is how good Beane and his scouting staff are at identifying talent. If they are very good at identifying talent, then they will get a quarterback no matter where the Bills start out on draft day. If Beane and his staff are not good at identifying talent, then the Bills are screwed no matter where they end up drafting on draft day. That is what really matters. That is the root of the issue. Draft position is mostly irrelevant. The Bills already have enough ammo to move higher on day 1 if they really feel the need to because they aren't high enough to start with. The Pegulas and Beane ought to be focused on figuring out how to identify talent better than any other team. If they can do that, the Bills will be making playoff appearances for the next couple decades. If they suck at it, the Bills will not be making playoff appearances for at least another few years.
  11. You claim "2016 Rex was the worst head coaching job in the history of the NFL". Ok drama mamma. Not even close. Rex is an idiot, but you are wrong if you think that is as bad as it gets. Rex is an average coach. You are assuming that a guy who has never coached an NFL game (McDermott) is automatically going to be better than a guy who was a head coach in the NFL for 8 years and took a team to the AFC Championship twice and beat the number one seeded/ranked Patriots in Foxboro IN THE PLAYOFFS with a piece of crap butt fumbling QB named Mark Sanchez. I don't care how much you hate Rex. Your logic is flawed heavily. If you make bets based on assumptions like that, you are going to lose way more often than you win. And I am not a Rex fan. Hate him. Just being realistic. New doesn't necessarily mean improved. It just means new. McDermott has absolutely zero experience and he will make plenty of mistakes - especially with zero experience in AFC East. He already made one by not knowing Tyrod would play a LOT worse without Sammy Watkins on the field. As far as "perceived chemistry" problems between Tyrod and the receivers - If you don't think there are chemistry problems, then you didn't watch the Bills play last year and you didn't watch them play this preseason. It is blatantly obvious to anyone who has been paying attention. For whatever reason, Tyrod seems to take longer than normal to develop chemistry with his receivers. I was extremely optimistic coming into this season - in fact, one of the few who thought the Bills would dominate some of the best teams in the NFL this year and go to the playoffs. After seeing the moves made by the GM - downgrading talent at a number of positions, and seeing the Bills not shore up problems with their offensive line - and a new head coach with zero experience - and an offensive coordinator who doesn't like to try big plays very often, I am no longer optimistic. In fact, I think it is more likely this team underperforms its potential and ends up sucking hard core. And if that happens, it will fall squarely on the shoulders of McDermott (your unproven -yet somehow already above average - coach) and his buddy Beaner.
  12. P.S. You have to take Marvin Lewis off that list. Come on dude. The only thing he has been really successful at as a head coach is keeping a job that he should have been fired from a long time ago.
  13. He is going to be judged his first season regardless of whether or not anybody thinks it is fair. There are many more things to judge coaches on besides win/loss records. Here are some things that could add up to get him fired within two seasons: 1) Losing every game 2) Having a ridiculously high number of penalties every game - like an absurd amount - like the last preseason game 3) Consistently punting from inside the other team's 40 on 4th and less than 5. 4) Making completely boneheaded decisions regularly 5) Showing a complete lack of being able to handle the job He will be judged by how well prepared his teams are. He will be judged by the game plans that the Bills implement week to week. He will be judged on his management of the clock at the end of the half and end of the game. He will be judged on how hard his players play for him and whether they have defeatist attitudes. He will be judged on a lot. Not just his win/loss record.
  14. After the first four plays in the Baltimore preseason game go to Shady - one for a breakaway touchdown, Beane's phone rings - Hey Beano, Baltimore GM here - let's make a deal. Meanwhile Greg Roman starts doing cartwheels thinking - Yes... We will never throw the ball again....yes....
  15. Where is your evidence of consistency? Last year they pulled the starting QB (a.k.a. playing not to win) in the last game when they were eliminated. The likelihood of them doing the same thing this year is pretty high I would think. Does anyone think that they are going to keep playing Tyrod all year even if they are eliminated from the playoffs assuming Peterman is healthy? I bet most fans don't expect that.
  16. If that was true, then no teams would ever be in the playoffs. Think about your logic or lack thereof.
  17. Show us the list of teams that has rebuilt by tanking for that first pick QB and then been to a Superbowl 2 or 3 years later while remaining a perennial playoff team? And there is no guarantee that whatever QB you take next year whether you draft 1st or not is going to be successful in the NFL. The truth of the matter is that to be good your organization has to recognize/evaluate talent better than the other teams while also doing many other things right. It is not where you draft. It is who you draft with whatever position you have available to you. Your QB does not have to be taken in the top 5 picks of the draft. It is not even likely. History has proven this in the NFL again and again. No matter where the Bills draft next year, chances are, there is going to be a good QB prospect available to them. They have to identify that guy and draft him. Just like they need to do with every position. - or sign talented free agents
  18. How many teams have tanked to get a QB and then won a Superbowl shortly thereafter while remaining a perennial playoff team? Must be a lot by your logic huh? How many? Not if your goal is to win as many games as possible every year. Doh!
  19. How disturbing would it be if they did tank the season and then drafted a cornerback with their first pick. Doh! ROFL....
  20. Take away the fumble (don't know that you can do that really) and the guy looked good. It seems to me that something like every year or every other year perhaps, that there is a third string (or later) running back who looks good in preseason and we all think very highly of that player. Then when they get the chance to play in a regular season game, we see them constantly run for no gain, little gain - giant pile at the line of scrimmage types of plays. I'm not expecting him to be any different in that respect. If he was shredding defenses for 6 it would be different.
  21. It is entirely possible that Charlottesville was the final straw that broke the camel's back. I get how emotional people get over that stuff. Even so, I can't imagine it being the primary reason. In my opinion, the timing of it allowed him to use it as THE excuse when it was likely just one of multiple factors. It allowed him to bury any discussion about his situation in Buffalo because nobody is ever going to push him hard about it. (nor should they) He knows darn well that whatever he does in the next 6 months could be done starting in January. And that measly $1.75 million he gave up could have been used in some productive way to promote his anti-racism pursuits - or used in any other way he saw fit for that matter. You're entitled to. Care to explain why?
  22. Homer post. QB is same. OL = dumpster fire if Glenn is out - last year the psycho backup was very good WR = downgrade without Sammy = zero chemistry - which Tyrod has shown himself to suck without DL = same don't know how you think it got better personnel wise LB = don't know - could say equal at best - no way Humber is going to be better than Zach Brown was for most of last year CB = downgrade - almost without question - Plus I think both Gilmore and Darby would have been ball hawks if this defense gets a pass rush - could have been great years for both here Yuu think coaching is automatically going to be better just because of NO REX? If you think that you are fooling yourself. As much as people hate Rex for being Rex, the guy had a ****-ton of experience as a head coach. Our current guy looked like he was a little kid who had his bicycle stolen from him in the last game. I HOPE McDermott is an awesome coach. So far he only conjures images of Dick Jauron. And I don't know if Dick Jauron could out-coach Rex Ryan. Truth is you have absolutely no evidence to say McDermott is likely to be a better coach than Rex was - regardless of how much you hate Rex.
  23. I predict the Bills will win the division this year after....... Tom Brady disappears in a Howard Hughes like fashion. And the world asks "Where is Tom Brady?"
  24. I call the reasons he explained in the article as mostly B.S - just an excuse. In reality..... The guy was wishy washy about signing to begin with. Then the Bills make personnel moves that make Boldin and other veterans question management's/coaches'/owners' intent for this season. And Beane trades the guy that was probably half the reason they wanted to sign Boldin in the first place. Then Boldin spends a few weeks practicing here and plays in a preseason game in which the Bills looked like they could be bottom dwellers in the league. Yeah. You can see how it came to him walking away. All I know is, it takes some major motivation to walk away from a couple million dollars - even if you have millions in the bank. Major life decision for that guy. Because you can change a lot of lives with an extra couple million. And it's not like he wouldn't be able to do his good deeds while playing. And how much worse off would the world really be if Boldin waited another 6 months to begin his full time crusade to save humanity from racism? As if he really believes that he is going to make that much difference in the coming weeks and months compared to waiting till his season is over in January. I guess he plans on fixing the world in the next 6 months. Talk about ambitious. I cal bullsh.. Just B.S. excuses. If he was that hell bent on his humanitarian pursuits - no way he ever signs with Buffalo in the first place. Truth is, the Bills gave him enough reasons to walk away from $1.75 million guaranteed + bonuses + playing football. It's just another log to throw on Beane's future funeral pyre if the team doesn't find any success in the next couple seasons.
