National Anthem (Cameron Jefferson)
PolishDave replied to bmur66's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Hey Maj. - how about the next time you are on a base and they play reveille followed by the national anthem - you bring your glove and raise a fist like that guy. Bet you don't have the balls. -
National Anthem (Cameron Jefferson)
PolishDave replied to bmur66's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's an honor/respect thing taught to Americans since they were little kids. It is one tiny ritual that helps bind countrymen and remind them that they are countrymen. Just a symbol of respect, honor and remembrance. -
So how are you going to fix this?

Just talked to a former player from the SB years
PolishDave replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good post As far as the patience part goes - It depends on how well the team plays this year and next year. If they win 4 games or less this year, I expect about 1/2 of the fan base to crumble already. If they get 5-8 wins - most fans will say - okay let's keep going. If they miraculously got 9-10 wins a lot of fans will be arguing that this could have been the year if they hadn't traded away talent early this year but the coach will look competent with a good record. If they get 4 wins or less this year, then fan patience obviously gets shorter with this regime and makes next year a "must" improve year or else - probably with somewhere around 1/2 the fan base I would guess. As far as the Pegulas go - who knows? You would have thought they might have been more patient with one of the last two coaches - but they weren't. -
Jerry Richardson? (Panthers owner)

It is also possible - even somewhat likely - that McDermott and Beane are illegitimate children of Andy Reid from back in his stoner/orgy days. And their sole purpose in life is to glorify their father - even though Reid will never admit they are blood kin. -

Was this pessimism as prevalent before the Sammy trade? I know it wasn't for me. That trade cracked my optimism completely - same as it would have it Sammy would have torn an ACL and been out for the season. I was really looking forward to the offense taking another step forward this year hopefully. And with an improved run defense, this team would be respectable. Now my intuition (whether right or wrong) tells me that the offense will most likely take a big step backwards and as a result the entire team will take a big step backward. I am guessing other people might feel that way too.. -
Greg Garbriel: On What the Bills Are Trying To Do
PolishDave replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gabriel is claiming they are the best since Levy and Butler - and the regime of McDermott and Beane hasn't even won a friggin football game yet. They haven't even won an offseason yet. And you think it is unreasonable to expect them to actually coach in real games and actually win them before making the claim that they are the best since the Super Bowl years? Some of you guys have blind faith while ignoring common sense. These guys could win a Super Bowl or they could flop out and be the worst of the worst most humiliating caoching/GM buffoons ever. No real proof yet. Way to premature to be saying "best" anything or "second best" anything. -

Gabriel says BEANE & MCDERMOTT THE BEST SINCE BUTLER & LEVY How absurd is that when neither guy has proven jack squat at their position as of yet - other than to put together and coach a team that has played several embarrassing preseason games. Yay - hall of fame bound! To say that, Gabriel is biased beyond reason - at least at this stage of the game. Let's see some superior team rosters, performances and records before anointing them anything other than wannabe's at this point in time. -

Whaley left him a .500 team needing new coaching staff. Not exactly a steaming pile that you claim it to be. -
This is how epically bad we are.

It is entirely possible that the 2017 football year will end up being the most successful year in the Beane/McDermott era - even if the Bills only win 5 games. -

Damn Millennials are taking over the whole sport...........gaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!! Next thing you know the players will be living in tiny houses! -
Real math? It's your math dude. Assuming your stats are accurate: If 28% of all Super Bowls have been won by a QB who was a former #1 overall QB pick, then 72% were won by a QB who wasn't a former #1 overall QB pick. Once again, give me the 72% chance instead of the 28% chance you are claiming exists. Why would you want to have worse odds? You are trying to make a point by using statistics that show you are exactly wrong. Hey, they're your numbers dude. I didn't make the claim. You did. You aren't using the right statistics to make your case - if there is even a case to be made for what you are claiming.

Ragland traded to KC for 4th round 2019 pick
PolishDave replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You would have to think that if Beane and McDermott thought Ragland was going to seriously compete next year for a start at MLB, then they would have kept him. Especially for a measly 4th rounder in 2 years. They must have decided he was not EVER going to cut the mustard here. Only way it makes sense when they claim to be building for the future. Because Preston Brown is no superstar. He will be replaced. -

He is far better against the run than he is against the pass. It is a passing league. I suspect he will be one of the biggest weaknesses on defense this year. And I suspect Beane will be drafting a MLB high next year. Wait for the regular season.
