PFF: Ranking the NFL QBs on 3-Step Concepts
PolishDave replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to admit, you're conviction is admirable. My faith is waning. I like the guy - and I think he is a balller....just starting to think he doesn't ball out often enough.... definitely not consistently enough. Hope like hell the Bills get it right with the next guy - whoever it is. -

Haven't had "gamey" venison in decades. Not sure why... All I know is, I don't run into it anymore. I generally prepare it one of several ways - Ground like hamburger - just use it anywhere you would use regular hamburger - ultra lean and awesome. Italian sausage - I had a good friend tell me it was the best sausage he had ever had by far. Deer steaks - sous vide - awesome melt in your mouth I usually take 3-5 per year depending on time available for hunting - more than we can eat - give a lot away Family combined harvests 20 + deer a year - some family members don't buy beef for the entire year because the freezer is full of venison in between seasons. If you haven't had it in a while - try it again. Oooh.....Jerky too.

For those calling for FO and coaching change
PolishDave replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They only got 1 last draft. Tre White. What are the odds they get 3 or 4 Tre White's in the next draft? Prepare to be disappointed. I am leaning this way too. The defense is just so bad right now. They have become what I thought they were going to be when the season started. Sad. If the team finishes the season as poorly as they have played the last 2 games, the are going to have WAY too many holes to fill in one draft. Better be damn good in the free agent market too. I think if Peterman had it in him to surprise to the upside that much though, he would already have been starting. -

Do you honestly think it is remotely reasonable to expect them to hit on a QB and 2 or 3 difference makers in one draft? Not happening unless they are the best talent evaluators the Bills have ever had. And based on their moves so far, they certainly aren't. They are going to get a QB (hopefully a great one) and maybe one other guy who ends up being a starter long term. Getting 2 or 3 difference makers besides a QB? No friggin way that happens. In my opinion. -
Every state/county/city employee (pretty much anyone in the NYS retirement system) that I know has been very vocal about voting against this Constitutional Convention. They say that Cuomo just wants to take their retirement and spend it so that it goes bankrupt. Then the retirement system will be forced to be redesigned and those who are living on that retirement will take a pay cut at some point. I can see why state workers want everyone to vote no. I have yet to hear the other side of the debate though. Can anyone tell me what the proposed benefits are supposed to be if the Constitional Convention is voted yes on? Seems that these people who want everyone to vote NO are so worked up about it, that there has to be something there. Anybody?

Yep. Thank you Mr. Beane. Hope you hit a home run on that 6th rounder next year. Dareus could have made a big difference in the Jets game.

Official fire Rick Dennison thread
PolishDave replied to Buffalo Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The results of the game fall squarely on the offensive line. They flat out sucked. All of them. And this staff, for some reason, is in love with Tolbert. That position needs to be upgraded badly. He isn't even average. Dude sucks. Revenge of Mike G. I can't help but think Dareus would have helped stop the Jets rushing attack. The Jets were opening tractor trailer sized running lanes between the tackles on Buffalo. Hope somebody pissed in Beane's Cheerios this morning. -
Yep. Probably the biggest factor as most of the other units are consistent. Offensive line is not. You never know what you are going to get. Like a box of chocolates. If the o-line dominates, the Bills win handily over the New Jersey Jets.

I tried to watch it too. Couldn't make it through the entire first inning of game 7. I would rather watch reruns of old sitcoms than sit through that snore fest. It doesn't even look like they players are into the game or excited about it when they show them in the dugout. Half of them are staring off into space like zombies. If they had cell phones, I am guess half the guys would be texting during the game or playing some other more interesting video game on it.

Yes the USD is inflationary over time. I don't like that and neither do most people who pay attention to it, but that is the way that modern economies operate for better or for worse. They would rather experience low inflation and the relative economic stability that comes with it than risk deflation which triggers downward economic spirals. And they can only do that if they control the currency to a large extent. This is why they won't ever concede power away from controlling the currency. Although the USD is inflationary, the level of inflation it has experienced has been very low on a year over year basis with small pockets of exceptions to that rule. On a year over year basis the value of the dollar rarely depreciates more than 2 or 3%. And that isn't enough to upset the average American. The average American doesn't have any idea or comprehension of what we are discussing here. Only a much smaller percentage do. If you imagine Joe average out there using cryptos instead of USD- the first time that crypto goes down in value 10% or more overnight because of some international event, that person is going to crap his pants and become extremely disgruntled. The USD, on the other hand, doesn't experience shocks of that magnitude that quickly. It is slow to appreciate or depreciate over the short run. As far as currencies go, it has been the most stable. That is where it's value is. People would rather avoid pain than experience pleasure. That is why for the foreseeable future, the USD will likely remain the world's dominant currency. What do you think is going to happen to Bitcoin if organizations like the European Union or countries like the US or China begin seeing too much money moving out of their currencies into Bitcoin? In my opinion they are either going to outlaw it and/or replace it with their own version of it or come up with some other way to strongly dis-incentivise its use. Which will result in what for that crypto? More instability perhaps. More reason not to use it except as a speculative opportunity to make or lose money. I do think it is still plenty early enough for new people to get in and make huge fortunes with cryptos like Bitcoin and others. No doubt. I just wouldn't plan on one of the speculative - non-regulated cryptos - to supplant the USD or any other major currency anytime soon. Countries won't allow it because they can't afford to allow it. Once a crypto (perhaps Bitcoin) gains enough popularity, each major country will drop the hammer on it like dominoes falling one after another. Call Bitcoin and other cryptos what they really are - HIGHLY speculative risky investments that could make you a lot of money or cause you to lose every dollar you invested.
-
I doubt it takes over the monetary system. The average person is going to continue placing far more value in the US dollar because of its history of being a store of value and stable - even though it is a fiat currency. Heck, even people in other countries will mostly continue to "trust" the US dollar more than some imaginary digital currency they can't see on paper. I do think that fortunes are going to be made in cryptos like Bitcoin and others. Huge, huge fortunes will be made and lost. The reason I don't think Bitcoin is going to replace major currencies is because countries will outlaw it, if it begins to truly threaten their own currency. They will have to. And once it is outlawed, most Americans will only dabble with it instead of using it to replace dollars. The biggest upside I see for Bitcoin and other cryptos is if and when inflation ever actually reignites in America or other major economies. If that happens, Bitcoin and others will be used as an alternative store of value much in the way that gold is currently used. That would likely cause those cryptos to skyrocket to prices that even make $6,000 Bitcoin look ridiculously cheap. That is when the biggest fortunes will be made. I currently mine alternatives to Bitcoin as Bitcoin itself is expensive to mine paying WNY electricity rates. I do not do it as a serious business - more as a hobby. BUt if the price keeps climbing in Bitcoin, or if I could create a very cheap way to generate electricity, then I would get more serious about it. Once the big banks get their crytpo Exchange Traded Funds launched, especially the leveraged ones, I fully intend to trade them - hopefully for a large profit. But I won't be storing money in there. I will be trading in and out from the long and short side depending on trends - and keeping my investment in US dollars. As an American, you have to trust the US dollar more. Because, if the US dollar goes to hell, the entire country goes with it and chaos will reign. Better to own guns at that point.

No. And it's not close.

We are in solid playoff position right now...
PolishDave replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just want to beat the Jets. Because if the Bills lose to the Jets, we will be back to talking about how this team sucks and can't even beat the Jets. Beat the Jets. Then Beat New Orleans. etc... -
It's true though. But a lot of people here think of him as the quintessential franchise QB. I say Fitzpatrick > Carr Fitz can throw just as many picks as Carr. And at least Fitz can run for a first down when the opportunity presents itself. Carr would be a good backup for Fitz.

Isn't the term "African-American" racist in and of itself? Why don't people call themselves Polish-American or Irish-American or Eskimo-American or Jew-American or Iraqi-American or Brazilian American or Chilean American or ....(you insert the rest). What the hell makes you different than any other American? Some kind of ego thing? I mean really WTF?

Bills improve to 5-2 w/ "boring" win (article)

Carr was talking about the "process" and how big the Raiders are on it. Must be McDermott's process is better.

Loud. Purposeful. Determined. Intentional. Well executed. Like he has been practicing it.

Huge accolades from Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher and crew after game today. Nice to see.

I am proud of how the Bills turned things around early in this game. Gave up the big first drive to the Raiders. Had their own first possession killed by a non-existent penalty on that huge completion of 40 + yards. The Bills could have laid down and taken a beating today. Instead they got up, brushed the dust off and knocked out their opponent. Out damn standing!
