12-28: Media Day - Anthony Lynn's Presser as HC
PolishDave replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Standing at podium. Bunch of people asking you questions = interview. But I get your point. It's not equivalent to a private head coaching interview. No doubt he will prepare for that. The part I said about him not interviewing well for a head coach job was if he appears to not be a quick thinker = witty. If he lacks wit, as a person, he will probably not interview well. That is all. Like I said, that might have been a rare exception. Maybe we'll see. Maybe we won't. -

He didn't interview anything like either of those two. -

I think the guy is brutally honest. And I like that about him. I just think he lacks a little bit in the "politics of business" department. Maybe that will change if he prepares for his future public interviews. When you have a highly public job like he is aspiring to obtain, you have to be prepared to deal with the public stuff. In his first attempt, he was unprepared. And maybe that will be the rare exception. Who knows. As I imagine him in a high level interview with the owner of the team and other executives, I imagine him not being polished and prepared. If that ends up being the case, he won't get the job. Could be why he hasn't ascended to head coach sooner. Who knows. -

I am betting EJ starts first half. Cardale starts second half. -

I agree. Lynn was very unprepared. If he had thought about what questions he was likely to be asked, that one would have been near the top. He must not have considered what questions he would be asked. And I think that is why he looked like he was caught off guard more than once. Also should not have gone into depth about Tyrod. If he was better prepared he would have had better answers for those obvious questions. If he is here as head coach next year, there is a good chance the local media eats him alive. He also didn't seem very witty to me. Not saying he is dumb. He could be brilliant. Just didn't seem like a quick thinker on his feet - witty. That makes me think he would probably interview poorly for any head coach position. -
Insane in the membrane. You're kidding right? In the same spirit as the original poster?

If no Tyrod Taylor, where do we go?
PolishDave replied to KRT88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they will pick up the option too, but it depends on who they get for a coach and what his philosophy is. Maybe Tyrod won't fit his scheme in which case he will be let go or traded. If that coach wants to draft a guy and start him, then Bills fans better be prepared for at least a couple more years of suckitude. And at least a one year regression from where we are now. If you want to go to the playoffs next year, I doubt they will find a better shot at that with another QB other than Tyrod. Personally, I want to take a shot at the playoffs next year. I don't want to wait. I want playoffs every year. -
There are lots of trolls around here.

What are you supposed to do, puke your last few shots back up?

Math, Probability, Win %. Bills must embrace them
PolishDave replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree that he is usually right about stuff. And I don't think he is very good at his job. Guy is a complete douche. I liked him when he was on the radio in Rochester and when he first came to Buffalo on 107 or whatever that was. Since he has been on GR, the guy has been very bad at football coverage. In my opinion. I quit listening because of it. -

Don't those guys proofread their own articles? "University of Pennsylvania professor Cade Massey, who researches behavior and judgment, said many NFL coaches habitually choose to postpone the certainty of losing in football for as long as possible—even if doing so actually lowers the odds of losing in the end, such as opting to punt on fourth-and-short in overtime." (bold emphasis mine) -

Statistics are also very misleading sometimes - like when people here on this very board blame a low total pass yards ranking for the Bills on the QB, when in fact it is proven that it correlates to the number of pass attempts. Teams with the fewest pass attempts tend to have lower total yards. Teams with more pass attempts tend to have more total yards. And the number of pass attempts is a decision by the offensive coordinator based on his philosophy and game plan - not the QB. The truth is people look for new stats to support their opinions and twist statistics to suggest they mean something other than the truth all the time. Not just in football, but very commonly in other things such as politics. -

Shouldn't he have answered the door and just said "no defense dudes" and then closed the door? Ba dump dum! -
Did you just crawl out of bed and start hitting the pipe already? Because you are obviously smoking something.

The fix is in-- Lynn will be the new head coach
PolishDave replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point is - What proof do you have or any evidence really that the guy would be competent at the head coach job then? You don't have anything that suggests he is going to be any good at it whatsoever. It would be like taking out a new mortgage on your house and then going to Vegas to bet it all on the roulette wheel. Probably not smart. -
Yeah but don't forget Tyrod gets credited for a sack every time he runs with the ball. And some of those runs end up being tackles for losses = sacks. Even the ones that are designed QB runs. In pure pass sacks, no doubt Denver has a lot more.
-
True. Unless they fix their offensive line. Which I am sure is their primary concern in this years' draft. They don't need a good passer to excel there though as was proven in Mannings last year. They need a QB who can move the chains and minimize mistakes. Moving the chains with zero running game would be tough for Tyrod. But if they do improve the line enough, he might be just what they are looking for. Certainly better at avoiding pass rush than the QB they have now.
-
Denver And Kubiak already tried to get him once.
-
If they had their mind made up about not bringing him back, they would be working deals right now trying to trade him for something. He has value to a number of teams, probably the most with Denver. I suspect we would be hearing trade rumors very soon if that was the case. If they didn't want him, they would deal him somewhere for something. If they don't deal him somewhere, then one could assume they do want him, but they don't want to force him on a new coach. They would rather let that new coach make the call and use that as an incentive to get a good coach in here.

Wouldn't you guys rather see Lynn put together an offense of his own first before you go handing the guy the head coach job? -
Now that my friends is a hardcore Bills fan! Patriot hatred to the core! Booyah!
-
My guess is they want to play. Most players want to play. If they don't, they are lazy. Whaley should ask coach to sit them. But I think the players would want to play.

Breaking News: Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan Fired
PolishDave replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't here then. But if that happened, those people are morons. I remember the halfwits on WGR saying it was a problem that Wade wasn't wearing headphones. Total idiocy.
