12-28: Media Day - Anthony Lynn's Presser as HC
PolishDave replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He said in regards to Lynn - that it is a matter of when Lynn gets the head coach job here not if? Is that correct? Found an article about it. Thanks. -

Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option

Come on Wayne. You're going to be there right with the rest of us no matter who QB is. The Bills are your addiction. They are your heroin. Stick the needle in and get your fix brother. -
Cardale Jones taking 2nd team reps

Lynn just said that EJ is next in pecking order behind Tyrod so EJ gets the start. He didn't say Cardale wouldn't play though. Just not start Then EJ later said that he expects to play the whole game. So who knows? -
Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option

You exaggerate your description of how the plays unfolded by claiming that each week the WR's were running free EVERYWHERE all game. That is as inaccurate as it gets. I challenge you to go look at the run pass balance the Bills employed this year compared to the rest of the NFL. What you will discover will surprise you and make you rethink your position about how Tyrod stacks up against other QB's. In order for you to have a massive amount of yards (as you say) you have to have at least an average number of passes per game. The Bills aren't anywhere close to that. Go check it out. -

Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option

I think it all depends on the coach which is why it is smart they haven't married themselves to Tyrod yet. We would know more if this offense had been a more pass heavy offense and had its starting receivers healthy. That would have told us with much greater accuracy if Tyrod was good at that price or not. Unfortunately in this run more than any other NFL team offense, we didn't get to see it. The Miami game looked promising but it was one game. New coach will decide if Tyrod is good enough or not. So be it. This could be a major point in recent Bills history if they sign him and it doesn't pan out or if they let him go and he takes the next team deep in the playoffs. Big decision that will solidify coach and GM or get them fired in 2 years. -
the Jim Leonhard of Rex's Bills defenses

When Carpenter was over on the visitor's sideline engaged in that kerfuffle, I thought he was there to rip off Landry's helmet and throat punch him. I figured he was having a redneck Joe Dirt moment. Disappointed. -

I see you run on pure emotion and not logic. That's okay. I know a lot of women and men like you. They're not bad people in general. They just can't control their emotions. You sir, are free to think and believe whatever you want. Have at it. And you have the right to keep complaining about ownership. If you can't see what a waste of time that is, then so be it. Waste away. -

Coaches change all the time. GM's change too. Owners change once or twice in a lifetime. See the difference? And yes the public does have influence on whether a coach is fired or not and whether a GM is fired or not. And players and other things associated with the game. Not the primary influence, but some influence nonetheless. -

Yep. That's what we do bro. Just think it is a waste to whine about things that can't be changed. Like if you were born too short or too tall. What the hell good is it to whine about it? And wouldn't everyone get sick of listening to you whine about it? I would. It is insane to sit around and whine about things that NOBODY can change. Nobody but Pegulas can change the ownership of the team. So what good does it do to whine about them as owners? Answer = none. -
Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option
PolishDave replied to re enlightener's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Possibly. Depends on what caps are in 3 years and where the team is at. Even so, if he was starter material and so was your groomed guy you would likely part ways with Tyrod. Or else you would be making playoff runs with Tyrod year after year and happy to keep the other guy on the bench or deal him away. -
Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option
PolishDave replied to re enlightener's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His salary cap is 2017 $15.9 million 2018 $16.8 million 2019 $17.4 million 2020 $17.6 million 2021 $17.7 million Looking at his dead cap he is relatively cheap to cut after 3 years if you felt you had to. But you have him at a very reasonable cap cost for 5 years. If you have a drafted QB that you are grooming, the timing should work out about right for that new QB to takeover for Tyrod (after 2 or 3 years). Plus you would have the option of keeping Tyrod at backup at that point for reasonable numbers as well. Don't forget, starting QB's are going to keep getting more expensive. Tyrod is not. He would only be expensive in cap numbers if you cut him within the first couple years. But make no mistake, if they pick up his option, Tyrod is the starter here for at least the next couple years. And will probably remain on this team for longer than that as a backup if he wasn't starting. -
Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option

Except Tyrod doesn't have a choice if they pick up his option. Bills don't need to make him an offer. He is already under contract. At least that was my understanding. -
12-28: Media Day - Anthony Lynn's Presser as HC
PolishDave replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no doubt he could. I am thinking that people would be going ballistic reading into it and saying that Russ is now involved in finding a new head coach. There would be a new thread about it on here for sure. -

If it is okay for you to post your opinion publicly on this forum - Why is it not okay for me to post mine? -
Then he will probably land a better job than he might have before. Still doubt it is with the Bills. But who knows.

Can you imagine how ballistic people would be going here if they had trotted out Russ Brandon for an interview about those topics? Terry would have been best no doubt. -

I will never understand why people constantly complain about ownership. It got old when people whined about Ralph Wilson. And it is already old when people whine about the Pegulas. They saved the team for Buffalo. They have zero experience in the NFL - Nor have they ever claimed to be NFL geniuses. Give them a friggen break. Wouldja? And you can't change it anyway. Nobody can change the fact that they own the team. So why are you focusing any of your energy and frustration on something nobody has any power to change? At least the other things are changeable. You are going to be miserable forever if you hate the Pegulas. And you deserve to be miserable if you do. -
A Lynn's slip up in the presser makes me think EJ is going to play half and Cardale is going to play half.

If no Tyrod Taylor, where do we go?
PolishDave replied to KRT88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You missed the entire point of what I tried to explain. Because you think you know why the Bills total passing yards are so low instead of looking at the evidence. The evidence is there. No Greg Roman designed offense has ever thrown the ball a lot. None ever in 6 years including his Superbowl team appearance. Is that not clear enough? They have never ever, ever done that ever no matter who the QB was. Even the San Francisco Superbowl team. If you are unimpressed with the total passing yards, then the root cause of your issue is with the offensive scheme. Because it was designed to do exactly that. Prior to that Miami game, the Bills lead the league in number of running attempts and were dead bottom in passing attempts. Every single one of Roman's offenses were similar in design. That is why they always had low passing yards and high running yards. It is the system. In the Miami game they opened things up and look what happened. How often would they play that well and how often would they stink - we don't know. A different offensive coordinator might show us. -

PolishDave replied to KRT88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The one thing missing in your takes which would make your argument resonate better is a better stat. You consistently use yards per game as a knock against Tyrod while discounting the fact that the Bills offense throws the ball less times than almost every single other team. In fact prior to the Miami game (where they opened up the passing game - and executed it at a high level by the way) the Bills were ranked dead last in the NFL in pass attempts. The team that throws the ball the least would be the most likely team to have the lowest yards per game. No? Go look at those stats. If you really want to make a logical argument - use his QB centric stats. Passing yards per game is correlated with number of pass attempts far more than you realize. His QB centric stats aren't stellar either, but they are a better representation of what you really had this year with Tyrod.
