This game just showed that Tyrod is not the #1 problem
PolishDave replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your words. Not mine. I give Roman full credit for designing this run first offense. He has always been good at it and did it again this year. And Lynn gets credit for calling the plays in Roman's offense since he took over at OC. But Lynn doesn't get credit for designing it. -

You expect a coach/gm to ditch the best QB on the roster. Then take a shot at a new guy - kind of like they did with EJ. Only hope that the guy is better than EJ. Because if that new guy doesn't perform better than EJ and even Tyrod within his first year as a starter, then fans are going to be calling for the head of the guy(s) who made the decision to get rid of an average QB in place of a worse QB. I don't see that happening. The GM would be setting himself up for failure and dismissal in all likelihood unless the Bills miraculously hit the jackpot with the rookie. If you want to have a job as a GM of a team, you don't do what you are suggesting they do. -
Anthony Lynn: Should he be the next head coach?

Watson was just a punt catcher. And a pretty good one. Wade said so. -

Wrong again. Greg Roman's offenses have never thrown the ball a lot nor have they ever achieved a rank higher than 23 in total passing yards even when they went to the Superbowl. And more times than not, his passing offenses ranked right where the Bills are now in terms of total yards. This stuff ain't rocket science. You just have to go check the stats. You guys act like nobody wants a better QB and you are wrong. Everybody wants an elite QB. When you show us a way that the Bills have a high percentage chance of getting one, people will get onboard. You don't intentionally downgrade at QB hoping that maybe you will get lucky with a draft. Go draft a guy first and let him beat the current starter for the job. Why is that such a bad way to do it? -

The QB who runs the ball the most is more likely to get sacked the most no? Because every time you get tackled or forced out of bounds for a loss, it is called a sack, even if it was a designed QB run. If you think Tyrod isn't among the best in the NFL at making defenders miss, then you are just dumb. I get it. You're a baseball guy. You don't understand full contact sports. Exactly what I said you idiot. Right at the cusp of average to bottom third of the league. Maybe you are just dumb. ESPN kinda likes him - but I guess ESPN has no idea what they are talking about. They think he is 9th best overall. But let's throw that stat out because you guys don't like it. Using QB centric stats like completion percentages - He is ranked 19th And YPA he is ranked 21 And those stats don't take into account the positive plays he makes with his legs. Like I said he is right on the line between average and bottom 1/3rd of the league. Apparently you can't read. And you also can't interpret NFL stats very well. Dude.. Seriously. Stick to baseball. You look so stupid trying to use your 31 ranked total passing yards to say a QB is bad when even a 7 year old knows the team that throws the fewest passes (or close to it) will have fewer total yards. You should find a random 7 year old to get your opinions from. -
Anthony Lynn: Should he be the next head coach?
PolishDave replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Lynn was interviewed publicly, and he came out and said -" My offense would be very similar to a Greg Roman style offense except with more emphasis on the passing game. A dominant offense needs to have a dominant deep threat passing attack that is used in every game. We currently do not spend enough time and emphasis on the passing game and we will change that next season." Then fans would be lining up to either keep him as OC or promote him to head coach. Unless he comes out and says something like that, I am going to be very apprehensive about what me might get with him at either head coach or offensive coordinator. What evidence do you have of anything Lynn has said or done that makes you think he wants to throw the ball more? Or not throw the ball more? It is a complete guessing game. Why would you automatically want to promote that guy to head coach? It seems like wishful thinking based on nada. -

It doesn't take a genius to see that the team that ranked dead last in number of pass attempts before last game would also rank near the bottom of total yards. But you Tyrod haters keep using that stat like it is proof the qb sucks. It isn't. And everybody (but you guys apparently) knows this. Before the last game the Bills ranked dead bottom of the league in pass attempts. And they ranked 31 in yards. Fewer passes = fewer yards passing. Duh. But you fricken geniuses say it is because of the QB. And you look like idiots because of it. When you look at his other stats, the meaningful ones that point to the QB in particular Tyrod is at the cusp between average and bottom third of the NFL starters. If you want to say he is not good enough because of that, then do so. But to blame a stat directly tied to number of pass attempts is just plain stupid. Maybe I give you too much credit for assuming even you would understand this. And you wonder why people accuse you of crusading. It is because you are. And you look dumb doing it using B.S. stats that aren't the QB's stats. Carry on. -
Punting on 4th and 3 with 4 mins to go in OT?
PolishDave replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. And yet probably a solid half (or more perhaps) Bills fans still in that stadium understood that, but somehow Rex didn't. It was the game right there. He conceded like a complete (*^*&%^$^#who doesn't care if his team makes the playoffs. If he really wanted to win that game he would have gone for it there. He didn't want it bad enough. He was more concerned about his image and how it would look if they lost because they didn't convert the 4th down. Hey Rex - F- U pal. Hope he invited Dick Jauron over for Christmas dinner so they could toast the smart decision. -
Anthony Lynn: Should he be the next head coach?
PolishDave replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How do you even know what Lynn's offense is going to look like though? And wouldn't Lynn be bringing in an offensive coordinator who would be designing his own offense anyway? I don't get the infatuation with making a guy a head coach when you haven't even seen his offense yet? How do you know what you would get? Don't you want to know that first? Assuming you are going to get a top 5 scoring offense by promoting the running back's coach to head coach is not a good assumption. Dude hasn't even tried to design an offense for the NFL yet - at least not one that we have seen. -

PolishDave replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wish someone in the media would interview Lynn about his philosophy in building an offense. At least then we might have a better idea of what an A Lynn offense would look like. Right now you are watching a Greg Roman offense with Lynn choosing the plays. And if you look at Roman's record, his offenses are consistently near the bottom of the league in number of pass attempts. So, if Lynn follows in Roman's footsteps, you will more likely see an offense that is heavily skewed towards running the ball again. That means another year near the bottom of the league in passing attempts regardless of who your QB is. Or maybe Lynn has a different opinion of what type of run/pass balance there should be. But if he does, he sure hasn't said anything about it and I don't think anyone has asked him about it recently. -
Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option
PolishDave replied to re enlightener's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent post. With a good defense, this team as it sits right now would be a dominant force in the NFL and would challenge the Patriots for this division as well as the conference. But they're not because this defense is fundamentally pathetic. Every year it is something unfortunately. This year is defense. What will it be next year? -

Tyrod haters still hanging on to the one stat that is truly meaningless when it comes to measuring quarterbacks. Because that is the only stat they have to base their case on. lol. You guys make yourself look more and more foolish every time your pinkies hit the keyboard. And I for one think it is just hilarious. Keep it coming fools. -
WIVB Josh Reed: Rex knows he's fired

Totally agree. Wish he would snap and go out into the audience and start kicking ass. Rex vs. room of reporters. Get all his rage out. Let them figure out whose teeth on the floor belongs to who. Complete joke of a press core. -

PolishDave replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. It was a completely boneheaded decision by Rex. He conceded the game right there with that punt. I thought for sure they were going to fake it when they sent the punter out. Instead we got Dick Jauron football. And in the post game interview, Rex said every coach in the NFL would have punted there. I call B.S. How can this guy not understand that he has to go for it there. Complete negligence as a coach in that situation. -

PolishDave replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes they do. They want to replace him with any rookie out of the draft which will have less than a 2% chance of being better than Tyrod - because those people are just stupid when it comes to math. -

Taylor 12th in Total QBR through week 14...
PolishDave replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And you are blaming Tyrod for ranking 32 in pass attempts? And those really low stats (the ones near the bottom of the league) except for sacks are directly attributable to that 32 ranked pass attempts. Dude. Get real. Who is calling the plays the offense is supposed to run? You can blame Tyrod for most of the Comp% and Yards per attempt ranking in the mid and low 20's but the worst stats on that chart are directly caused by the league low number of pass plays called. How can you guys not understand that? Forget about the quarterbacks name for a minute. How can you not see (it is ridiculously obvious) that those low total passing yards, passing yards per game, passing touchdowns and other bottom of the league stats are a direct result of running fewer pass plays than any other team in the league? Do you understand what those stats mean? You are just making yourself look unreasonable. -
Whatever happened to Manny Lawson?
PolishDave replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember him being the "star of the defense" in his last preseason game here. Bills were showcasing him hard. I remember thinking - Why are they leaving him in this long? Do they want him to get hurt? Then it became clear they were trying to drum up interest from other teams. -
Taylor 12th in Total QBR through week 14...
PolishDave replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where? Under his pillow? How is it so hard for you to understand? Kansas City has nothing to do with it. Roman wasn't the offensive coordinator there. You aren't very good at making points are you? Roman doesn't like to throw the ball on offense compared to other coordinators. Roman likes to run the ball more often compared to other coordinators. His quarterbacks (whoever it is at the time running Greg Roman's offense) throw fewer passes. Fewer passes = fewer yards passing. Go look at the stats FFS. I'm pretty sure that is easy enough for even a 7 year old to understand. Why can't you? This year the Buffalo Bills threw the ball fewer times than any other team in the NFL. No wonder they have the second fewest total passing yards. You know which team threw the ball the most times? New Orleans You know who has the most passing yards? Drew Brees The Bills offense is a run heavy offense. Roman's offenses have always been run heavy which is why his offenses have been consistently very high in total running yards while low in total passing yards. It doesn't matter who his quarterback has been. It has always been the same. If you think it is just because of his quarterbacks all 6 years, even when he went to the Superbowl, then you sir are just plain dense. I can't make it any clearer than that. -

Where on ESPN are you getting your stats from? Link please. What passing stat is he ranked 28th for?
