It doesn't seem like there are any this year. But I wouldn't say anymore...Cuz that sounds like a permanent thing. You can bet there will be one next year. It won't be the Bills though.

I think the intent of the longer kick was to encourage teams to go for 2 more often. Wasn't it? With that being the intent, it might be better if they just did away with the kick entirely and made everyone go for it every time.

For those looking for a silver lining in the weed legalization trend happening across America: With the legalization of weed in California, it is likely that the demand for weed imported from other countries (especially Mexico) will eventually decline. One thing that Americans are exceptionally good at is agriculture. We should expect California to become a world leader in the production of Marijuana relatively rapidly. And with it, drive the cost down to a point where it disincentivizes illegal drug smuggling from other countries. At some point California will probably be exporting high quality Ganja to the rest of the world where American quality product is in demand. There will still be plenty of bootleg/contraband/black market weed circulating in the US. But, that weed will more likely be sourced from states where it is grown legally rather than sourced from drug cartels in foreign countries. Yay for free market economics!

I hate rebuilds and I really don't believe in them. At least not complete rebuilds. I get sometimes you have to change GM's and coaches and QB's. When you are changing GM's and coaches, yes you rebuild. As a season ticket holder of many years, I think rebuilds pain me (and other season ticket holders) more than say a fan who watches just on television. The pain is in my/our checking account. Because I absolutely hate paying thousands of dollars a year just to keep my seniority for the seats knowing that the product is going to suck. It is like going out to a restaurant where you hate their food and knowing that it is also a very, very expensive restaurant. It is maddening. When you watch from home at least you can turn the television off and do something else. That is hard to do when you have so much money already invested in your Sunday afternoon. You don't want to "skip every game" because it feels like you are burning your money. I went to the last Brown's game where Buffalo played down there. The fans were/are miserable about that team - even the die hard older guys who have been going to Browns games for decades. We tailgated with some longshoremen. They are a mentally/emotionally beaten down bunch. They do have a nice stadium, but they can really use a decent team/season.

Why are players still confused on defense?
PolishDave replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Smart man! If you have any friends from out of town - take them to the Polish Villa and watch their faces when they read the menu. They are like WTF is that? WTF is this? How do you pronounce that? Its fun. -
Haven't they been doing that? I wonder how many years they will have to do it before they will ever be good again? Maybe it should just be an every year thing so people will start thinking of them as the standby "worst team in the NFL every year". I'm cool with that. At least it won't be the Bills. I bet Cincy is happy about it too.

Yep and yep. Hey Yeezus, Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt. -

Positional Needs For DraftTek - Astro
PolishDave replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you draft him to replace Tyrod even if he is available when the Bills pick? No friggin way. Not enough upside beyond what you have with Tyrod right now. If you are going to bother drafting a Qb that you hope can replace Tyrod, you better draft a pure pocket passer. -
I remember more hate for Rob Johnson than there was for Flutie. As I recall it was the younger guys - high school kids and just out of high school/college kids who wanted Rob Johnson to play. Most of the people who had been watching football for a couple decades or more (basically pretty much anyone over 30 at the time) wanted Flutie to play and felt he was the better quarterback. When Jim Kelly was QB, as a fan you always had a sense that you could still win a game even if the Bills were losing late in the fourth. Flutie gave you that same feeling. Rob Johnson did not. I think that was the big difference between them. People "felt" Flutie gave them a better chance to come away with a win. And yes, the people who disliked Flutie used to use the "he's too short" argument constantly. It was a broken record. But even to this day I think there is still more love for Flutie than there ever was for RJ. And there is more hate for RJ than there ever was for Flutie. Just my opinion.

THE AMERICANS - all the way - effin great show. - if you grew up in the 70's and 80's If not, you probably won't appreciate it as much. Ray Donavan on Showtime is a friggin wicked awesome series too.

Well, I follow the belief system that you build a winner starting with the big guys on the line of scrimmage. So, I am okay with paying more money for linemen than most are. If you want to be dominant you have to have a great offensive line or a quarterback like Tom Brady. I don't think there are many Tom Brady's out there, so gimme a great line. Then run the ball by committee - any back will do if your line is good enough. It has been proven again and again and again.

De Nile is a river in Egypt brutha. And proud! Booyah! Free pierogi for everyone. It's really a great stoner food. -
If you want to be the best you have to be able to beat the best. Isn't that why you try to upgrade every position? Gotta get better there too.

Give Rex credit, the spike was brilliant
PolishDave replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. It was quick thinking on their part. I thought for sure the refs were going to say - Sorry - time expired - end of half. -

Ba dum cha! good one. I burned a lot of green in my youth. And yes, it definitely made me dumber than I otherwise could/might have been. Kinda wish I could go back and not do it, but we don't get that luxury. There are a lot of things I can say that about. With weed, you just don't realize how dumb it is making you when you use it regularly. Your judgement is clouded by smoke. It is easier to just deny it than to admit you are closer to retarded as a result of your desire to giggle more often. I must admit though, it sure does make music a lot more enjoyable. oh...and food. -
Good ideas. Yes, I think having a ref in the booth is a great idea. Let him be the arbitrator. Also - it wouldn't hurt to allow coaches to have one penalty challenge per half.

Dope makes you dumb. - Especially regular use over a long time frame. Is that even debatable? The only ones who would argue otherwise are pot smokers who don't want to admit it is making them dumber. -
Probably why they didn't flag him for personal foul on roughing the kicker.

+1 And let reporters throw tomatoes at them.

Move on with Tyrod, get rid of Rex
PolishDave replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When you say move on with Tyrod it sounds like you want to cut him and move on. -

Rex said Darby was sick coming into the game and probably shouldn't have played. Rex took responsibility for having Darby out there even though he was sick.
