  1. The title was just to make you notice or want to pay attention to the thread, just like what all headlines are for.
  2. When a NFL team drafts a player he is a unknown commodity, but when a NFL team cuts a player he is poison (for want of a better word) on the field or in the locker room. Sure, mistakes are made with roster cuts once in a while, but for all those who were wanting to sign Josh Freeman, the lesson is not to insult the intelligence of another organization. Witness Monday night. He was 20-53 with one pic for 190 yards. The 37% completion rate the worst for a QB since 2007. How would you like a Bills QB to put up those numbers.
  3. If Lewis plays great and wins, why is Manuel the UNQESTIONED starter? Because they are giving him all the money? Fitz had his contract sent down the road with him, so Manuel would not be the first, nor the last.
  4. Can!t really see the Dolphins as big favorites here; probably based on the home field and the bye week preperation as they have given up more points than they have scored (117-114) with the 3-2 record.
  5. A lot of good comments here, but I don!t believe we know that the real thought is, although I think it can change week to week depending on the QB game performance. Irregardless, I don!t also believe that Marrone runs the football operation, rather it is done by commitee with imput from Brandon, Whaley, Overdorf etc. and maybe even the janitors opinion. Very few coaches, especially rookies have complete say, I know Belichick does. Let Marrone win a few SB and maybe he will get that power.
  6. It is not that complicated. Whoever gives us the best chance to win on Sunday. Not next year or two years from now.
  7. Offense not bad, but it means nothing when the defense give up more. That is how they keep score, so what is your point? Would you rather have a loss at 51-48 or a win 10-9?
  8. You guys keep talking about a new regime. Brandon, Whaley, Overdorf, Littman, etc., etc. It is still the same old, same old and it will always be this way until ownership changes Flip a coin 13 times and it comes up the way you do not want it 13 times-impossible? Not at Ralph Wilson stadium.
  9. The last sentence means that we all need training when we start our careers, our professions, or our jobs. Many are lucky enough to get the necessary job developement in a College or University. unfortunately having one of only 32 jobs in the world, requires for the most part, years of watching and learning behind a good veteran QB&OC. Granted a Luck or a RG3 can step in and do a good job. However correct me if I am wrong but I do not recall a rookie QB leading his team through 16 games, plus the playoffs to the promised land. That is what the game is about, winning the SB. I know it is a bad anology but even a mechanic starting on the job has to learn and ask questions to know about different parts and sytems of different car models. It takes more than talent for a rookie QB, and I hope Manuel makes it, but how many more years of bad football do we need before he makes it, if he does, because with the Cap and Free Agency the NFL is a now league, so don!t you think a will develop better and faster behind a decent veteran QB and OC neither of which the Bills have?
  10. My bad, because if you go to buffalobills.com ROSTER there are actually 6 QB!s on it. Manuel, Tuel, Flynn, and Lewis on the Active portion, Kolb on the Reserve/Injured part and Dixon on the Pracice Squad
  11. Thad Lewis awoke this morning to find 4 other Quarterbacks on the roster.I guess 2 TD!s and no picks buys a cup of coffee. So now we have 5 QB!s on the roster. Manuel, Lewis, Tuel, Dixon and Flynn. I can understand San Francisco not wanting Kaepernick not looking over his shoulder, so Smith goes to Kansas City and he is the man. Wilson gets the job in Seattle, so likewise bye bye Flynn to Oakland. So was he the man there? forget it as they send him packing from there. So now we have 2 rookie QB!s, and 3 retreads who have each been released from multiple teams. Would!nt it have been better to get a successful starter from the Canadian Foot ball League who maybe would like to work with 4 downs instead of 3 and wants the spotlight of the NFL. Or maybe a success in the Arena League, if that league still exists today. What do you all think of the crowded QB siuation, and before you answer Manuel, do we really want to spend a few years devoping a QB with no proven veteran or OC to learn from?
  12. " a team on the rise. Can!t gain total roster depth in one off season." What about 13 seasons? Kansas City 2-14 to 6-0. I suppose they just got lucky, nothing to do with anything else.
  13. "Headed in the right direction","a rebuilding year". There are no such things because of the cap the NFL is a now league, not what may happen in years to come. A 2-14 season can turn into a 14-2 season with the right coaches and front office. There are no moral victories, you are what your record says you are. If you lose 16 games by 7 points or less, you are still 0-16. Horrible play calling means horrible coaching when you can!t gain 2 yards on 4 plays.
  14. The one who can explain that to you is the GM. He picks the players(probably with the help of Brandon) This GM is not exactly Bill Polian, so you have your answer.
  15. This is a rookie coaching staff; don!t you think there is a reason they have not been in the NFL before (or the DC never a HC) this is also a coaching staff probably at the bottom of the pay scale. Don!t you think that maybe that is why "Marrone and co. didn!t take that inhto account". If Marrone(and possibly Whaley & Brandon) had done the right thing Tuel would be the man Sunday, but as long as he is not, lets hope that Lewis is not pulled after 1 pick or a failure to move the offense. You can!t keep sending the wrong message to your team or they will quit on you.
  16. Neither one of these guys are going to Canton or even the Pro Bowl. The way you develop these young inexperiance QB!s is have them sit and learn behind either a top OC (like the Jets have) or a top QB and the Bills have neither and have had neither for years, so it will be a matter of luck who is the best in the coming weeks depending on many factors. That is a. How is the running game that day. b. How are the WR!s hanging on to the ball that day. c. A CB comitting pass interference penalties that day. d. What is the opponents D like that day. e. Who can be better in bad weather f. Is the WR running the correct route, etc, etc.
  17. Not good. Steve Johnson would be a No. 2 on most teams, cedrtainly not a No. 1. Grahm does not even belong in the league and the rookies have yet to prove themselves. If they had Peyton Manning throwing they would maybe be adequate. There has been no pro bowl QB since Kelly, so they just have to keep trying and maybe get lucky one of these years, and that guy will make any WR look okay.
  18. You guys and gals are missing the point. The NFL now is a passing league period. So a good game for a back is `150 yards, a good game for a QB is 500 yards. Backs are a dime a dozen and interchangeable. McGhee, A. Smith, Lynch, Jackson, Spiller; whats the difference as there is a no good offense unless the QB can throw it long and to a receiver who can actually catch the ball.
  19. It is the GM that provides the roster (players) to the coaching staff, so why no words from the GM on this and other items? Remember in pre season what the OC said about Spiller, how much they were going to urse him. How long did that last and why has Hackwtt never been available. How long has Marrone been coaching the team and he still can!t deceide between Brown or Legursky; Teul and Lewis until yesterday; between Hopkins and Carpenter yesterday. I hope he knows the NFL rules before he throws the red flag again. From the GM, not a football guy all the way down to the some of the coaches-pitiful. No wonder we are in familiar territory in the AFC East again. Our running game against the passing game? Maybe we get 150 yards on the ground, but is it a match for a 500 yard throwing QB? I don!t think so.
  20. You mean the GM did!nt know or he is just not talking. I don!t recall Whaley saying a word about the present QB situation either.
