  1. Title of this thread is ridiculous. This front office has made some great decisions. One area it seems Beane fell short is the OL. They underestimated the loss of Richie, Woods, and Glenn. Frustrating? Yes. Leading to total FO incompetence? Not even close. Back off the ledge. It's week 1. Lets see how the coaches, team, and FO rebound from this.
  2. I've been Peterman defender and I get the pressure. But he isn't making any plays regardless of time. When he's flushed out of the pocket his head doesn't remain upfield ALA what Allen does.
  3. lets put the defense on the field for offense. can't be any worse
  4. Beane needs to take the hit for the lack of OL. You lose Richie and Woods and you do nothing. This isn't a good look. The product looks horrible. Entertainment factor zero. It's not so much about 17-0 but more about the fact that the offense is doing nothing.
  5. One of the other papers did a piece with Sullivan a few months back that outlined a lot of this stuff. As a Bills and Sabres fan, I am well aware of the losing our teams have been going through. And yes, there were many years where we as fans were made to feel like we weren't intelligent enough to know what the front office was or wasn't doing. But after a while it just got to a point where no matter the good or bad, he was always negative. Something good would happen and he would always put a negative spin on it. Sports is sort of an escape for many fans. It doesn't pay their bills (no pun), it doesn't raise a family, and it isn't something that is required in order to live. We all have problems in life and face enough adversity from our day to day dealings, some more than others. The last thing I want to do is read an article regarding a topic that should bring levity to my day and have it be dark and hopeless. At that point, I would rather just stop and move onto something that is more uplifting. He was always looking at the glass as half empty. Whenever good news came out, there was always a caveat of negativity that he needed to remind us fans of. That gets old fast. That's why I stopped reading him. This is 2018, not 2008. He never got that. When I was in college I interviewed Jerry for a communications piece and he was one of the nicest guys I had ever met. He complimented me on my preparation and took the time to be interviewed and never rushed. So I know he is a good guy. But when it comes to sports writing, I just feel his approach is outdated, and as much knowledge as he has of sports, his negativity has turned a majority of his viewers off. I wish he would change, but as they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I wish him all the best
  6. He made his name on one play. Take away that 41 yard run, and he had 8 rushes for 7 yards. He did contribute on ST, but the Saints have a lot of young backs and he got caught up in a number games. Some will snatch him up or put him on PS. If it's the Bills, great. But I wouldn't do it because of family reasons. (Unless your Tim Murray and your name is Cal O'Reilly.)
  7. So in other words we are already preparing for worst case scenario when it comes to our QB situation. Gotta love Bills fans.
  8. I totally agree from the continuity standpoint. I also agree that there was a huge amount of pressure on Lynch. Elway took him with the thought that he was going to be HIS guy. When the other QB's didn't work out (Lynch was starting Week 4 his rookie year) that pressure was fast-tracked. I believe when things didn't go well for Lynch, Elway looked at it as HIS failure. That put even more pressure on Lynch. Multiple HC, multiple OC, and he could never deliver what Elway wanted him to. I saw every throw from that week 4 pre season game vs. Cardinals. He made some great throws, and showed some athleticism for a guy 6'7 and 245. One announcer even commented that Lynch was putting on a clinic. Aaron Rodgers didn't start a game until his 4th season in the league. In his first two years in the NFL, his stat line was 15-31 (48% completion) for 111 yards (7.4 yards per completion), 0 TD/1 INT, 6 sacks, with a QB rating in the low 40s. He was taken with the 24th pick. Lynch was taken with the 26th. There was no rush to put Rodgers on the field. He sat and learned, and became the legendary QB he is. I"m not knighting Lynch as the next Aaron Rodgers. But it's obvious that some QB's have different learning curves. Imagine if the Packers had cut Rodgers after two seasons because it seemed he wasn't "catching on'. Mind you, from his sophomore season on he has had the same HC. Some fans see a guy play for a game or two and think he's trash. Peterman was a fifth round pick for God's sake and after one start his rookie year everyone thinks he was garbage. Some fifth round picks don't even sniff the field their first year, and there is no theory that fifth round picks should be starting QB's their rookie year. But people who lack common sense don't care. It's ridiculous. Watching film of the guy, Lynch still flashes talent and skill. Some team will scoop him up and give him the time to correct some bad habits that he has created and possibly find a diamond in the rough. I am hoping that team is the Bills.
  9. EJ Manuel has been in the league for five seasons. Lynch has been in the league for two. Lynch completed 67% of his passes last year. EJ completed 56% I'd rather give Lynch a shot to see if we can correct some of the issues he was having then bring in a guy that you know after five years what your getting.
  10. I love this move. LOVE it. First off, Lynch is only 24. He has only played 5 games in two years. He had a great first game his rookie season, then the wheels came off second game vs. a great Falcons D where he was sacked six times. Last season, he was sacked 9 times in two games. That's 15 sacks in 3 of his 5 starts. Denver's OLine isn't anything to write home about either. First off, he is 6'7 and 244 (Allen is 6'5, 237) Both are athletic for big men and can move their feet. Both have strong arms. Watching the preseason game vs Cardinals last week, you can definitely tell this guy has lost his mechanics. With Lynch, the video I attached you can tell he is very jumpy in the pocket. There were many throws where he never really set his feet, nor his body angle. He was just throwing it to get rid of it. Secondly, he would look downfield for a second or two then just dump it off to the back. His feet again on most of these throws were not set. But you'll notice on this video he made some pretty amazing throws. One at the 1:50 mark where Lynch scrambled left and against his body looped the ball to the WR. IT was an impressive throw that he made happen with his athleticism. He made some other pretty nice throws as well. You can also tell he is very athletic escaping the pocket and moves well on his feet. His ability to move out of the pocket on a few plays reminds me a bit of Allen. The problem with Lynch was he was thrust into action his first season and he wasn't ready. His very first game his rookie year he had a 94.1 QB rating. He came off the rails against a good Falcons team. I'm sure the pressure of being the first pick and being viewed as the savior of the Broncos weighed on his since they had no one else on the roster who could play while he sat and learned. The more they lost with the other QB's, the more the pressure was on him to be ready. He was just never able to grow into the position naturally. That's why Peterman is starting for Buffalo. Because McD knows Allen isn't ready. Why rush him and create a situation where he learns bad habits by getting thrown to the wolves ALA Lynch. As for Lynch, this is a fresh start for him where he isn't expected to come in and be the savior of a franchise. He can come in and work with Daboll, who I'm sure will help him with his foot work similar to how they helped Allen. He can just sit and learn, which he couldn't do in Denver. In this league, you can never have enough QB's. McCarron is an example of this. Just for having him on our team we got a 5th round pick. If Buffalo can turn Lynch around and get him to drop some of his bad habits this might be a steal of a player. If not, no harm no foul cutting a 3rd QB on your team. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2018083051/2018/PRE4/Broncos@Cardinals?icampaign=scoreStrip-globalNav-2018083051#menu=gameinfo|contentId%3A0ap3000000957320&tab=videos
  11. There is a reason why he didn't punt all pre season. The Pats were trying to stash him. They wouldn't even let him punt warm ups on the main field vs. Eagles since the Eagles were looking at adding a punter. Sounds like a Belichick thing to do. Bills saw through it and moved in. Gutsy move. Props to Beane and his staff. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2018/09/buffalo_bills_claim_new_england_patriots_cb_ryan_lewis_p_corey_bojorquez_off_wai.html
  12. I'd be shocked if the Bills didn't put in a claim for this guy.
  13. With the Raiders rumored to be cutting Martavis Bryant. In only 13 starts the last two seasons he would have led the Bills in receiving yards in both 16 and 17 and TD's by a receiver in 17 (Hunter had 4 TD's in 16 compared to 3 by Bryant.) But facing suspension and durability issues
  14. With all the brilliant trades he's made, he has no clue.
  15. For Sal's sake hopefully no one crashes Wikipedia.
  16. It wasn't his best first half. But he had 5 throws that were to avoid a sack or kill the clock, a number of drops, and WRs that ran horrible routes on some pretty decent throws. And Chucky loves that grit. For a back up role he is a solid guy to have. Happy we got a fifth for him.
  17. Makes perfect sense. That comeback vs. Bears showed Gruden the type of competitor he really is. He is way better than Cook or EJ. Solid guy playing in a situation where he could be asked to play meaningful games if Carr gets hurt. Glad for the kid. All the best to him.
