I agree here, as well. It really baffles me why, with this particular player, Bills fans are so quick to get so angry to say things as dumb as "cut him or bench him!" Most of the calls on him are so soft. Sure there are some where he went too far, but a lot of them have been highly, highly questionable. I'm much more apt to support the Bill in question in that situation than to tear him down. As has been pointed out in this thread, refs have different standards for different players. The state of officiating in the NFL is an embarrassment to the game of football.

IMO this is what an amateur coach would do. Too good to bench, and I don't think it would make him better. But to each their own. I'll keep rooting for 55 while he continues to make game winning plays for the Bills. I trust Rex and co. much more than the Monday morning message board QBs.

I'm actually amazed how many people come on this board with their expert assessments of what went wrong following every loss complete with a list of who should be fired/cut (usually a long list) compared to how few come on to talk about the positives after a win. I'm personally much more motivated to be active on here after a win rather than a loss. Anyone else notice that? Agree, disagree?

Assuming Tyrod finishes the year healthy and as continues to play as strong as he has, I think we should look to the other needs. Unless someone really falls, then you have to take a QB. Otherwise, maybe draft a project in the 2-4 round.

Also, totally fine as long as Karlos is healthy and ready to truck some Jets. We're good.

We may be underestimating what Searcy did for this D... AW is an obvious loss, but I think Searcy was better than we realize. Corner play has improved tremendously, however, so maybe a wash.

He's not under pressure. Typical response from reactionist fans who want to call for someone's head after a loss. Bunch of Robespierre's around here. Unless there's a significant rift between he and Rex, I don't think he's going anywhere. Pegs seems to like his crew. Why would he start axing guys after one year?

Yeah, probably just a deep bruise or it dislocated for a second. Abundance of caution to shut him down for the day. No need to risk anything further at that point of the game, especially when you have a damn Clydesdale like karlos who can pound the exhausted D into submission to finish it off.

Leo's never been afraid to come up and stick his nose in there. Glad to have him back on the field. He's a hard hitter and a hustle player who can make big plays. I think, like Hughes, he brings an attitude to the D that can be infectious. Hope that continues to build up and the D tightens up down the stretch. I'm not sure if it can be overstated how much we miss Kyle right now.

I didn't pay close enough attention to him specifically. Happy to hear that he played well against the run. It seemed like there were BIG holes all day long for Shady and especially Karlos to run through. If you give Karlos Williams a hole to get a few steps downfield through, I feel sorry for your linebackers and secondary. That dude just trucks people. Miller got abused by Suh on a few pass rushes. But, it's Suh, so it happens.

Yeah... turning that pick into Shady McCoy makes it worth it. EJ is a bust, but he was a shot in the dark. Fans would have lost it if he hadn't taken a QB. Unfortunate that it was the wrong year to take one. Wish we had picked up Glennon instead thought. Much better backup material. Also, Tyrod... yes! Doug Whaley is a smart, smart man when it comes to finding talent that's languishing on other teams. That is not easy to do. And frankly Buddy did too.

Yeah, that was a bad one. Hard to gauge overall quality of safety play watching on TV when they'd rather show the constant shot of the QB in the pocket than zoom out and see routes develop downfield. On a semi related note, does anyone else wish that they did that more often? He was also step for step on another deep ball late in the game and had a good breakup. I'll be interested to hear how he did. I feel like next week, his sole job for the entire game should be to be the double team guy on Brandon Marshall. Fitz is going to just throw it at him constantly, and he can't read safeties well. Play robber and look for picks against BM. Make their other receivers beat us in 1:1.

Good post. I think people who have played the game kind of get that. You never want to see personal fouls, but you like the edge that player brings. It's a fine line, but Hughes is clearly on the side of "hell yeah" and it's not even close. Those "fans" should lose their opinion license. They're probably the same ones who still want to see EJ start because he's such a darn nice fella. Some folks would rather cheer for lovable losers than the type of play that you need to win.

Except his mental lapses have never got us beat, but you can make a much stronger argument that his play has been the single most important factor to win a number of games. There are very few defensive lineman who have that kind of impact in the league. I think coaches need to keep working with him to clean up the penalties, but he is by far one of our best defensive players. If you don't see that, I don't think I can help you. He is as responsible as any single player for a win yesterday. Lot of fans wish he wouldn't be so good so they could be right about him being cut or benched. In the meantime, he proves you wrong again and again. My general thoughts on people who have that ax to grind are something like this:

Seeing a lot of pessimism about this game. Allow me to be the first to go on record and predict that the bills kick the ever loving s#*$ out of the jets. Offense will face a tough D, but they haven't seen a QB like tyrod or a back like shady/Karlos yet. Their line is tough, but we gameplanned around Suh. We'll do the same for them. I think a big factor is if we can get pressure. Make Fitz do the Fitz things he does under pressure and playing from behind. If he has to push downfield to catch up... lookout. We've all seen that story before. Go Bills.

And still... held the team to 17 points. That should be good enough for a win every time.

Haha this is great. While I agree with the second part, I say let the dude play how he knows. What he's done his whole college and pro career has gotten him to this point. Let the man run the ball.

He is going to be one of the great ones as long as he has a QB to throw to him. He's on the level of players that you just need to throw at, even if they're covered. That's all Fitz does with Marshall. Marshall is making him look like an all star.
